"If you get her phone number, I will bow to you and will give you a dinner party at Food Inn," Neeraj said, pointing towards a girl sitting next to us in CCD.

It's less than a fortnight for my SSB at Bangalore for SSC entry to the Indian Army. Neeraj, Sameer, and I were sipping Cappuccino at CCD near Eros cinema in Mumbai. After watching the "Avtar" movie we decided to have a cup of coffee at CCD. Where we saw two beautiful girls sitting next to us.

Sameer: how's your preparation for SSB?

Me: what to prepare yaar, I am, as I am.

Sameer: that's true buddy. You have it in you.

Me: let's see

Neeraj: Oye! Check out at 5 O'clock.

Me: Oh! She is breathtaking. Some of my heartbeats are missing yaar!

Sameer: It's your SSB task. Get her number.

Neeraj: If you get her phone number, I will bow to you and will treat your dinner party at Food Inn. Today's bill will also on me.

As I heard the word 'SSB Task' I made up my mind that I have to do it. I checked her out with the detective's eyes and found out;

1. She is wearing one earring only. Observation: she might be committed, hence difficult to fall for me.

2. Few books and a file is laying on her table.

Observation: she might be working in some office or institute, she will not be a student.

3. She is wearing heavy spectacle. A golden heavy chain. No rings.

Observation: She reads a lot, or watches TV a lot. She is rich.

4. A book 'Five point someone' by CB laying on her tables.

Observation: She like Chetan Bhagat's books.

And all the above just took 2 minutes.

Ahhh! I am good at observations.

Me: Ok! Done.

I stood up and just went to their table and picked up that book 'five point someone' and said, "I was searching for this book for the last one month" And I picked up that book, till now I have not made any eyes contact with her. The other girl said that you can get it from the bookstore next to the VT railway station.

Then I looked at her and said, "I went there today only but it was out of stock."

Till now the 'target girl' has not uttered a single word.

"Can I borrow it and will return you next week same place or you can give me your number in case I will finish it before" I said looking toward the book.

The beautiful girl said, "you take this book, I will get a new one."

Me: no yaar!

The girl wrote her 'orkut' I'd on the last page of the book and handed it over to me.

I thanked her. In beautiful green salwar kameez with dupatta on her neck, she was looking so beautiful.

I came back to my friends and left the CCD after finishing our Coffee.

By the time I had searched her or 'Orkut' a social media site. You can resemble it with today's Facebook.

That the information I got from 'Orkut.'

I checked all her posts and pics. She seems very simple and a good girl. But I didn't send a friend request. She might judge me. So I decided to send her a friend request tomorrow after 9 am only.

We had dinner at Food Inn as offered by Neeraj. By the time I have checked her all the posts, photos comments at least 100 times.

I can't stop myself from sending her a friend request. Laying on my bed at about 10 pm I sent her a friend request. The whole night I checked for a response but all in vain.

In the morning at 10, I was into my books and a message has popped up. 'Sinu Kurian has accepted your friend request.' That was the 1st best thing that happened to me today.

And the chatting begins:

Sinu: how much book is completed.

Me: 55 pages

Sinu: not bad

Me: I will finish it by tomorrow.

Sinu: that's good.

Me: have to read it?

Sinu: last 20 pages remaining.

Me: then why you gave it to me? You should have told me that only 20 pages are remaining.

Sinu: I gave it to you as I saw the passion and eagerness in your eyes to read it.

Me: that's so kind of you. By the way, what u do?

Sinu: I am working with LDH bank as customer support.

Me: that good. So you will open my account in your bank? A smile on my face.

Sinu: sure, I will. What u do.

Me: nothing much working with the call Centre presently. I Hope will join Army soon.

Sinu: Oh! Self-made man... I mean boy.

Out phone got discharged many times while chatting. I used to chat while putting it on charging even.

Now the step two. Getting phone numbers and meeting.

I didn't reply to her with any of the messages on 'Orkut' for 2 days. Lots of messages were from her side. Why r are you not replying? R u ok? U there? After 56 hours I typed a message to her 'I am very sorry. I was unable to reply as my internet was not working and I was not having your phone no. I am sorry. I am ok! all good! How are you?'

And the next message from her was her mobile no. That was an achievement... I called Neeraj and gave him an update on this.

We met many times in Marine Drive, watched movies, and spent a lot of time together.

On a very fine evening of a Saturday, I went to Woods Bar with my colleagues. As we entered the bar, I saw so many couples on the dance floor, high music, smell of booze. In the corner of the dance floor, I saw a couple kissing each other.

"Oye! She is your Sinu Kurian.' Sameer shouted.

I saw carefully and yes! She was Sinu.

I went to her and said, "How are you?"

She ignored me.

"She gave you Checkmate brother," Sameer said.

I came out of the bar, all my friends followed me. I deleted her number and then we went to our room and drunk till neck that day.

After, two years

On completion of my training at OTA Dehradun. I called my bank as there was a deduction of 1000Rs as a maintenance charge.

"Good morning sir, This is Sinu Kurian. How can I help you?"
