CHAPTER 4: UNEXPECTED MEETING

Mam it's an emergency in the office" the voice from the phone spoke frantically. after hearing the voice, she took her phone from her ear to her eyes and saw the caller id it showed Lilian.

She asked, " What is it? "

" Mam the CEO of the M. A. Company and the heir of the Hughes is coming to the office for the meeting."

" So? I don't think we have any business corporation with them and neither any deal to sign."

"Mam! but...."

" Ask the vice president to attend the meeting with the director."

"Ok mam " The secretary said, and the line got cut. Eugene who was still not composed didn't want to go out with this complexion.

Eric Hughes was done attending his meeting that lasted for several hours. Now he was sitting in his car with a photo of a woman in his hand the woman in photo had brown hair with big chocolate eyes, she had pale skin with smooth complexion her lips were pink and her nose small bit straight with high tip. She looked perfect.

He whispered, "finally I found you " And smiled, he kept the photo back. Gavin sitting on the driving seat was happy for his boss.

They finally reached in front of the really large building with a grand entrance. It was known that the owner of this company is a woman after her husband died, she took over the company and has been handling.

The woman had never been seen in public but the other thing that the public knew that the largest hotel chain in the country is run by her.

It was difficult for Gavin to get information about this woman because she was no less than his boss. All he could find was the company and some news.

Gavin got out of the car and walked to the other side of the car and opened the door for his boss. Once he saw that his boss was out, he closed the door and gave the car keys to the guard.

Gavin saw the secretary walked down the office she looked elegant with her royal blue shirt and grey checked skirt on and grey pump heels in her feet.

Gavin and Lilian shook each other's hands, Lilian bowed to eric, and they then followed the secretary and started walking inside. The secretary walked them to the private lift only used by the president.

when Eric and Gavin entered the office, they saw the team of guard walk out of the office. They didn't bother to look around and were silent and soon the guards disappeared and because it was normal for eric to have so many guards around him.

all eric could make out of the way the guard walked outside the office it must be the president who came.

The guards walked out the office and spread around both side of the entrance. As the black Mercedes pulled up approaching them, the guards marched behind the car and opened the door for the president.

"GOOD AFTERNOON! PRESIDENT!" the guards spoke in sync.

since Lilian couldn't make it to the president as she was attending eric Hughes she had asked the assistant secretary with her team to go to president.

the team of secretary approached the car when they saw the beige colored high heels out the car. they saw a woman in black walk out the car.

the woman was none other than Eugene. when she heard the name of M. A. company. she was in shock because she hated the Hughes empire. it was all because of them that she lost her husband.

it was because of this company that she had to take control of everything to protect her family. she never knew what would have happened to her family if this family were to take over the business empire the smith's built.

and most of all she hated eric Hughes. he was a no less, he was just a heartless jerk. he was ruthless if it comes to him, he doesn't give an ounce to kill the person and he proved it.

Eugene with her team walked inside the office. they went to the back door elevator and reached the fifth floor. she hastily entered her office; she walked so fast that the team had to keep up with her.

but when she entered her cabin, she met a face whom she wished to be dead. she wanted him dead and tried to everything in her power to make that happen but that never happened, and she hated Eric Hughes more than ever.

"YOU?!?!" Eugene who was calm till now finally spoke. with a slight shock in her eyes.

"YES! IT'S ME" Eric spoke with a smirk plastered on his face he didn't seem surprised, but he was unexceptionally calm.

he stood up from where he was sitting and started walking towards Eugene. he walked with a slow pace looked elegant which made Eugene more irritated.

Eugene tried maintaining her calm, she took deep breaths and finally calmed down. as she turned around to walk out the door, she felt a grip in her hand which was big but soft.

she turned around to the man who stopped her, gripping her hand. in defense her hand flung, and a slap landed on eric's face.

"SLAPP!!!!"

she never wanted to do this, but this man went too far; after entering her office than he even dared to enter her cabin and now he even dared to touch her. she has had enough.

"YES!! IT SHOULDN'T BE ME WHO LEAVE THE ROOM" Eugene spoke firmly trying to get rid of the grip. but she was still weak to get out of his grip.

"OH! then who should be it, ME? or them?" he pointed towards the team of secretary and her personal guards who were right outside the cabin but came inside after they heard the slap.

he raised his hand which had held Eugene's hand and said " well! you see i... CAN'T leave yet so it should be them." while pointing his fingers towards the guards.

"Huh...you really like to joke around, right?" Eugene spoke with a smug look on her face as she tried twisting her hand and tried getting close to him and whispered in his ear.

"DON'T even think of doing anything funny," then she got back on her feet and showed her hand to him which was now free from his grip.

"GAURDS get everyone from the M. A. company out of this building" she spoke while making herself comfortable on her chair.

Eric didn't do anything he just stood there watching the girl speak and sit on her chair gracefully. a smirk was still plastered on his face. it was as if he was enjoying the situation and slap didn't have any impact on him.

he then moved to the sofa he was sitting before anyone came and sat on there. they both stayed silent for several minutes when eric broke the silence.

"So, you're not going to speak. "

Eugene stayed silent with her eyes focused on the documents and emails on her computer.

"You really hid yourself well after the accident and the case. " Eric spoke again and waited but didn't get any response back from the girl.

he tried holding a conversation but failed, he wanted to tell her things that she didn't have any clue about. but he knew she wouldn't believe him, so he stopped speaking and walked to her table.

he kept his palms side on the table and tried getting close and said, " you're still beautiful and more when you're silent like this."

" I love it." eric spoke and left the room.

Eugene who felt annoyed by the man's presence threw her files and pens everywhere in the room and went to the washroom to wash her hands.

Eric Hughes got into his car and asked the driver to drive the car. he felt relieved that the woman was fine but still he had to see her for the sake of the promise that he made with someone.

he loved that woman just to protect her he takes all the hatred. he knew how much she hated him. somehow his heart was on other side even if at one time he loves her but the other second, he would be annoyed by just looking at her.

so much so that even he didn't know about, Gavin who watched his boss knew about the feelings of his boss, but he didn't dare speak a word in case he loses his job. his job was more important to him than anything.

soon the car reached a huge building with a grand entrance, the guards already lined up for him to get out. Gavin walked behind his boss explaining him everything about the documents.

they went inside the building to his cabin. Gavin knew his boss was not listening instead he was enraged and the only person who made him like that was Eugene smith.

the day went in a blank for eric and soon came the time of his departure from his office. he still had work piled up so he decided he would stay in the office to complete his work.

2 YEARS AGO

"I'm heading towards the shooting range once you're re done check me there."

" I might have to stay overnight to complete all the piled-up work."

" If you have so much work bring it home, we can settle it together."

" But-"

" No but's rather than staying in office come to the shooting range. I'll be waiting." after saying this Eugene hung up the phone.

IN THE SHOOTING RANGE

*SHOOT*, *MISSED*

" Let me show you how to shoot the target." Eugene spoke calmly by taking the gun from the boy's hand.

" Do you even know how to shoot?" the boy spoke.

" Well, you'll know once you see." Eugene spoke calmly.

the boy still refused to allow Eugene shoot from the gun. he still didn't believe that a girl like her can shoot, to him she seemed some rich spoiled brat who just came for fun.

but before he could think more, he heard the shooting of the gun and when his eyes landed on the target, he was shocked to see the bullet hit the target.

he denied and said, " it was just your starters luck."

*SHOOT*

*SHOOT* *SHOOT*

*SHOOT* *SHOOT*

Eugene shot again and again but every time he saw, the bullet always landed in the center of the target. he couldn't process the things when he heard a voice from behind.

" Well, you could never win against her" the man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties spoke. he had hazel brown eyes and dark brown hairs with pale skin.

he walked towards them after removing his overcoat he wore the shooting vest, gloves and head wear and with a gun in his hand he walked towards one of the ranges beside his wife.

he started shooting with sync in between both the guns. Eugene noticed that Luke came to the range and gestured him for a challenge.

the couple started competing with each other and the results came to be Eugene winning and Luke losing by half a second.

the couple then came out of the range as everyone present their clapped for Eugene, Luke then leaned towards his wife and spoke " you always surprise me Mrs. smith. "

then he kissed his wife in between the public, as the public went in squeal Eugene hid herself in her man's arms. with all the embarrassment she had, she didn't dare lift her head up to look at the people present there.

Luke again whispered in her ears " I love you and I missed you so much. "

this time Eugene replied back to Luke " I love you too, and I missed you."

as the words escaped her mouth, she immediately regretted it because after seeing the face of her husband she knew she would be eaten alive tonight.

although, she didn't hate the idea, but she knew that her husband has a lot of work, so she wanted to help him in finishing it.

the boy watched the couple with the blank stare, he didn't even notice that the couple approached him and were standing in front him.

as soon as he realized he bowed his head and apologized, but Eugene stopped him she knew he was rookie and new here and he mustn't have known this shooting range is run by the same couple whom he offended.

that they were once the national players who got their names remove because of all the problems and cases they were facing. anything related to them would have landed them in trouble.

but rather than telling him the truth Eugene held her husband's hand and said, " it would be better if you work hard "and after saying this the couple went away from the shooting range happily.

the couple reached their villa but as soon as the door shut. Luke kissed Eugene making her hit the wall, but the wall didn't touch her since he had his hands behind her head.

they deepened the kiss and never once broke the kiss. the couple reached their room and Luke started kissing his wife everywhere. their hands laced together as they embraced each other tightly in their arms.
