Chapter 9 Wait for me

“Wait for you? Am I dreaming?, Alex please stop. I appreciate you buying all those fish from us but please don't come here raising my hope and beside you are leaving already.”

“Yeah you're right, I'm leaving, but you're wrong for saying I want to raise your hope for nothing; look, I just can't sleep at night and it's all because of you, so please say yes.”

  “Can I think about this?” she asked because she didn't want to appear desperate.

“Sure, you can take your time. But please can you see me off to the airport?”

 “ When, now?”

 “No, Next week, we are leaving next week”

 “Ok, yes I will see you off” she smile at Alex still not believing that the high and lofty Alex is in love with her.

“Thank you” Alex said and he draws her close to himself and hug her while both remain like that for some minutes. Alex phone rang disturbing the peaceful moment.

“Hello Alex where are you?,  I want you to come home right now” his sister's voice was hard over the phone shouting and given commands.

“Your mum is angry with you, I hope you are not going to be in trouble?” Sandra ask Alex hearing the way the person sound on phone.

“Trouble?... my mum?....” Alex scoff at Sandra making a face. “There is no way she’s going to be my mother”

“What? why are you saying that Alex?” Sandra asks wanting to believe that Alex is not only full of himself, he is also insultive of his mother.

For him to be saying this means that he doesn’t respect his mother. “No, this is going to be a mistake, falling for him is going to be a huge mistake” Sandra thought.

“ What is it?, why are you suddenly quiet? Alex and Sandra.

 “Nothing, but are you not going to honour your mother’s call?”

“She’s not my mother, but she always acting as if she's the one who gave birth to me. I just wish she got married and leave that house”

 “Oh I thought is your mother” Sandra said relieved.

 “My mum does not shout at me like that, is only my sister Clara that has the audacity to shout at me.” He said playing with Sandra’s hair.

    “I  think is time to go, can I see you tomorrow?” Alex ask making Sandra’s heart skip.

 “Tomorrow?”

 “Yes tomorrow”

“I..I…I..” she stammers.

“What?” Alex ask smiling at her.

“I… I… I.. tomorrow I will be helping my mum in the market”

 “Ok, but I would have loved to see you tomorrow, can I come to your house then?”  Alex ask.

 “No… no…. no… I mean you can but my mum will skin me alive”

 “Oh sorry but you are no longer a child” Alex said thinking that if she can be friends with Brian then she is no longer a child. So what’s the big deal if he visit her in her house or has Brian not been visiting her when they were  dating?.

he just smile at her instead and “ok it’s fine if you don’t want me to come to your house is fine with me”

 “No… no….no that’s not what I mean it’s not as if I don’t want you to come to my house, ok I will come out to see you tomorrow by 4 p.m.

“All right, that is fine with me. 4 p.m. then” Alex said happy that things are going his way.
