11 Mozart

Ruby listened carefully as Sungwoo played a piece she had never heard before, this music was relaxing and entrancing. It was like she was the only thing that existed, just her and this perfect melody. She wanted to hear it again,no she didn't want it to stop.

"What did you just play"Ruby asked Sungwoo

"Piano Sonata No. 18, it was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as part of a set of six for Princess Frederica Louise of Prussia in 1789. It is often nicknamed "The Hunt" or "The Trumpet Sonata", I wish it was called "The soul searching sonata". Sungwoo replied

"Soul searching " Ruby scoffed

"it took me more time to learn this piece than it did to learn how to perfectly play the piano"

"That's why your allegro had more life than the adagio" Ruby said.

Sungwoo gave her a surprised look, he thought he was dealing with a novice but he thought wrong.

"I didn't buy a grand piano to just look good in my house"

"Of course you didn't, what was I thinking "

"Ever heard of..." she was cut off by the doorbell.

"Excuse me " Ruby said and went to check the door and surprisingly it was her mother, she opened the door and Madam Lee walked in.

"Your impudence only gets worse by the day and trust me this was the worst so far....."

"I have a guest over Mom, not now" Ruby said and walked into the house with Madam Lee following closely.

"This is your audition, work with it they'll contact you" Ruby gave a music sheet to Sungwoo who went through it immediately.

"Allegro vivace? wow, I've got a lot to do then"

"They'll contact you. That will be all for today Thank you " Ruby said.

Sungwoo packed his sheets in a leather bag and left.

" That's the guest you had? For God's sake Ruby, Your brother hosted a housewarming party tonight and you decided to invite a pianist over and drink wine. I want to understand what is wrong with you!" Madam Lee expressed utter disbelief.

"You didn't expect me to show up all glammed up, beautiful smile, chatty and happy, No Mom that kind of pretense is beneath me and you know it. All these Yeong Jade wedding shit is a farce I shall not be taking part in and you shouldn't expect me to!" Ruby stated matter of factly.

"Great, Just great, So that's why you invited Zen to almost ruin your brother's night, is it?"

"I don't know about Zen ruining anything,but we can both admit that she was able to keep Yeong happier than now, or is his happiness not a point to consider in you quest to find a 'perfect' match for him or rather for your business "

"LEE YOONA! You shall seize to test my patience, the wedding is next month and you will attend every second of it, no discussions"Madam Lee stated and left.

Before Ruby could process what just happened her phone rang and it was her dad.

"I just woke up and your mother is not here, she didn't take the driver so I think she's coming to your house. be careful not to get scolded, her ears are smoking" Chairman Lee said over the phone.

Ruby sighed. " She already left, not quite long"

"What did she say"

"Hmmmmmm, she called me by my legal name"

Chairman Lee clicked his tongue. "tsk tsk tsk, something else must have happened apart from you being a no show at the party".

" Zen went to the party and that must have infuriated her. I don't see what's wrong with an invited guest showing up at a party, I mean she wouldn't go if she wasn't invited "

"I see you shouted at her" Her father said calmly.

"Just a few bitter truths "

"You're both very alike, you both are too stubborn to understand reasons. But I hope you'll both stop fighting and slowly talk things out, wouldn't that be great"

"When next is your doctor's appointment " Ruby casually changed the topic.

"You're indeed more stubborn than your mother. Ji eun is going to come over to check on my condition since it's nothing serious".

" Okay good " She said. Lee Ji eun was her cousin who left the family business for med school, at that time she had disappointed her father whom wanted his only child to join the family business.

"You must be very disappointed at Yeong for deciding to marry Jade"

" Not exactly Dad, I just need him to be happy, and coincidentally Jade isn't where his happiness lies, but what can I do when Mother refuses to see reasoning".

"Marriages like this that benefit both families are common in our society, so you can't really blame her"

"You must be tired today, get some sleep and call me when Ji eun visits for your examination "

""Alright goodnight" Chairman Lee said and hung up.

"What a shitty night you're having " a voice said behind Ruby which almost made her jump out of her skin. She turned to realize that Zen had been standing there.

"I should change the password of my door" Ruby said.

"You must be in a lot of trouble because of me, I won't apologize though instead I'll ask you to accommodate me for two more days"

"Problem with your apartment?"

"Well, my Mom picked me up from the airport this evening, then the party so I didn't have time to settle. I can't go there alone at night what if there is a creepy neighbor or a rape and murder stalker "

"That's if you're not the creepy neighbor "Ruby scoffed

Zen started walking to the kitchen. "That's true. Wow lots of side dishes in the fridge, Madam Kang must have been here recently" She said as she started scooping food in plate. "You've had dinner right?, cause I don't mind having everything" She said and turned on the microwave.

"It's going to be a pain to host you for forty eight hours, I should shop for more groceries"

"You cooked these?, when do you have time to cook" Zen expressed her surprise.

"When I want to relieve stress".

After eating and cleaning up, Zen laid on Ruby's bed.

"Here". Ruby handed Zen a mug. "You won't be sleeping on my bed right?"

"Why won't you ask me anything, it's frustrating that you won't get angry at me for ruining your brother's family.... Look,I was going to tell you everything but things kind of panned out this way and one way or the other here we are".

"Please say something " Zen said when Ruby did not give her a reply.

Ruby took a deep breath after taking a few seconds to consider what to say. "The wedding is going to happen next month, whether or not you do anything,but I really hope you don't get hurt in the process and 8m not angry or anything like that.Get some rest I still have some work to finish, good night".
