A quiet night
The house had finally settled into the quiet stillness of night, the laughter and chatter from earlier fading into soft whispers and the occasional creak of the wooden floor. After the impromptu celebration, the children, Ying Ying and Ning Ning, had insisted on sleeping with their parents. Despite their exhaustion, they clung tightly to Mo Xing, as if afraid that he might disappear in the night if they let go.
Anna had smiled gently at their insistence, understanding the lingering fears that still haunted their little hearts. She watched as they nestled into the large bed, their small bodies curled up between her and Mo Xing, their hands holding onto their father's shirt as they drifted off to sleep. Mo Xing had kissed the tops of their heads, whispering soft reassurances until their breathing evened out, their faces finally relaxed in peaceful slumber.
