That's Perfect!

Vera Gilmore had been with her aunt long enough now that she was used to the way things were but still wished she had more kids to play with. She loved spending time at the shop learning about how to restore antiques but that didn't mean she didn't want to do stuff with other kids too. 

Their neighborhood didn't have any her age most of the time. Mr. and Mrs. Hill across the street did sometimes but not other times. 

The first time a friend her age had been able to sit by her on the bus had been nice but that only lasted for two months and she didn't understand why until Tilly explained what foster parents did. 

That was when Vera realized that she was one of the lucky ones. Her dad was a bad parent but her aunt had been able to take her in. Not everyone with bad parents had that so they had to live with strangers and keep moving around.
