FLASH

It's Monday morning and I woke up at 6 o'clock as usual. Rita was still sleeping while snoring loudly. I brushed my teeth and wrote in my diary which was my habit since childhood.

I was making breakfast when I saw Rita come into the hall with her messed-up hair. She followed me into the kitchen, asking for coffee and breakfast. I asked her to wait in the dining hall. After a while, we both sat at the dining table eating omelettes, bread and coffee.

We were about to finish when Rita said:

"It's our first day in the office, what should we wear? You need to help me choose a perfect outfit."

"This is what you thought of speaking on our first day? Wear anything. No one cares about it."

I answered irritably, looking at her with a questionable expression. I had no idea what was going on inside her head. She does things; that make me question her existence, or maybe she was a clown in her previous life. However, she took her moment to finish her breakfast and replied:

"It is indeed important. People care; when you look good. You should also change your habit of wearing pants and a shirt daily at work. You look boring and twice your age. Also, there might be some hot snacks for you to date."

Hearing her saying all these things makes me want to puke on her. It's been a while since I dated someone. I did try to date some guys in school, but they ended up breaking up from my side. Dating someone looks good for a moment, but after a while, the other person wants to be intimate with you; and I never felt like letting someone touch me physically.

It was all about feelings and a connection, which I didn't get from any guy yet. To be honest, I haven't had my first kiss at all. Also, I feel irritated when someone mentions or suggests dating. No one intrigues me romantically or physically, so talking about dating; irritates me.

Anyway, as for Rita, I rolled my eyes at her and stood up. I was collecting the plates to do the dishes and slapped her head on my way. She screamed and cursed me for a minute and left for her room to get ready.

I washed the dishes and went to get ready for the day. I showered and blow-dried my hair. I don't do makeup other than using a red shade of lipstick. For me, red goes with every outfit and can enhance your look.

After a few minutes, I gave a thought to what Rita said earlier about my clothes. She was right in somewhat way. However, I was too proud to admit it. There are; so many clothes I have; still, I choose the same outfit every day in India.

Living in a new place; directly indicates you to change your life for good. Life is good as it was but, I can make some alternations with clothes. So, I chose to wear something new; and ended up wearing a long sleeve red top, fully covered from the neck and a pencil skirt with a slit. I paired my outfit with block heels and an off-white purse.

Rita was already ready and calling out my name continuously. I shouted at her to wait for a moment and make my way out of the room. Once I stepped out of the room, Rita got shocked by my look and kept staring at me. She didn't utter a word and covered her mouth with her hand.

"If it is too much, I can go back and change. We still have time left."

I said nervously while stroking my neck. I touch and stroke my neck whenever I get nervous.

"Noooooooooo! Don't even try to do that. I was just amazed by your look. Are you the same person I used to know?"

She replied to me, explaining how she is mesmerized by me. Her saying those things made me more nervous and shy. I replied with a shy smile:

"Thanks. I gave a thought about what you said earlier and decided to change a few things about it."

"YES! Thank you very much for it. You look gorgeous. Now hurry; we are getting late."

Rita replied in a hurry. We rushed to the main door and opened it. We both screamed together as we saw Chan-yeol right in front of us. He was standing very close to the door with a grinning smile and a straight pose waving at us.

"Good Morning to you two," Chan-yeol greeted us; with an excited tone.

"What the hell? Are you trying to give us heartache? Since when have you been standing here?"

I asked him in an annoyed and shocked tone. Rita, however, hid behind the main door in shock. She is the most cowardly woman I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm confident; that she will run away when something scarce thing happens.

"I just came. I will be escorting you today, remember? Chan-yeol replied with a smile.

"Oh! Hi Chan-yeol," Rita replied with a grin; on her face as soon as she realized Chan-yeol's appearance.

I took a deep breath, asking Rita to move fast to close the door. The office was within walking distance which saves time for transportation. Both Rita and I were following Chan-yeol. When we reached the main headquarters of FLASH, we were both surprised.

The headquarter was so big and beautiful with glasswork. As you walk further, you will find posters and banners showing the type of work the company provides.

FLASH is a brand, and everyone; wants to be featured with it. I'm lucky to get a job here together with my best friend.

Chan-yeol glanced at us and smiled. He knows how everyone reacts while coming to FLASH for the first time. He snapped his fingers, bringing us to our senses. He took us inside the office.

As we set foot in the office, we saw the busy body of employees pacing here and there. It was amazing to see such an environment. You feel good when your life is going to engage with work; you've worked hard.

Chan-yeol took us to the reception, informing the receptionist about our arrival. She took a moment and handed us our badges. Then, we were taken to the Human Resources Department; to report our joining.

The HR of the department looks friendly and kind. She welcomed us and asked Chan-yeol to show us our desks. Rits and I were both placed near each other. It makes me more comfortable.

Since it was our first day, we didn't get much to do but the introduction with other colleagues. All the colleagues are nice, comforting and friendly. It keeps us away from any hesitation. Chan-yeol seems to be very popular among all the other employees. It explains; why he was chosen as a guide.

He introduced us to two other female employees in the same department. They all get along well with each other. It seems like they are good friends.

The other two female employees were Ae-Cha and Ari. Ae-Cha has long black and straight hair with a fashionable sense of clothing. Ari is sweet with a fox-cut hairstyle and very casual clothing. As we were talking, it didn't feel like the first time. It is the first time; I'm being very comfortable around someone.

As time passed, we learnt about our daily routine and work from Ae-Cha and Ari, and with a blink, it was time to leave for home. We all left the office together and went to our homes; as soon as we got out. Chan-yeol left with us so that; we don't get lost on our first day.

As we reached home, Rita invited Chan-yeol inside. We talked and ate together for a while until it was past ten. After Chan-yeol left, we both took a shower and called it a day. Today was exciting and fun, and I look forward to the next day.
