She Who Caught His Eyes

Duncan was happy. There were no words that could describe how he felt other than happy.

It was a bit early and premature to call it a victory, but he could take each smile Julie wore as a token of hope. He sounded like an old man, but he WAS an old man, so be damned if the world judges him.

It was a blessing that he learned how to cook. This little family that he had claimed was happy with what he had prepared. He looked at the woman who snared him.

No, she did not use any sorcery or anything. Julie was normal. A normal woman had the guts to take on a man half her size and pull out a gun.

He grinned remembering that. Heck, she was sexy as hell that day. But the comfy dress she wore that same night made him rock hard every time he recalled how it clung and showed him all those curves that he wanted to explore.

The dress shirt she had on looked old and well-worn. It covered her body, but it still showed her ample breasts that from the looked of it, were free.

Duncan groaned. What he was doing to himself was torture. Pure and simple. What man in their right man would spend time with a woman who made it clear that getting her would not be easy?

Him.

Claude and Nicole were fast asleep. The excitement of seeing him after one week had finally caught up with them. They were tucked in their beds, while he and Julie were in the living room. Looking at each other.

He had to hand it to her. Julie met his eyes head-on. Although, she faced looked flushed and he could see that her whole body was as aroused as his.

Her nipples were hard and from the way she kept on moving, he would bet all his assets that she was wet. Why was he even thinking of her being wet?

Ah, yes, he desired her. He wanted her. Julie Madrigal.

He could see her, laid out on his bed, wearing nothing but a satisfied smile on her face, while he leaned down and...

"Whatever thoughts you are having, let's keep PG." Julie's voice broke his daydream. Duncan could feel she was looking at his lap. Can he blame it for growing?

Duncan faced her, erection and all, and reached out to touch her hair that she unbound when entered the living room. She was beautiful. The lamp on the side of the table cast a warm soft glow that made her look vulnerable yet strong.

"Ah, lass, it had a mind of its own. I canno' really stop it from reacting when there is a lovely woman around." He said.

"So, that thing in your pants will grow to whoever you see?" the woman replied in a dry manner.

Was she jealous? His grin widened, and then he moved closer. Julie could not do anything other than lean back on the other side of the sofa.

He knew he was crowding her, but he made sure not to cage her. There was a brief flash of fear in her eyes, that was replaced with irritation. She could still roll away, she could still push him.

"No, he will only react to you," he said.

"You are contradicting yourself," she replied.

Julie's voice sounded a bit husky in his ears, and upon closer inspection, he could see the rapid beat of her pulse at the base of her throat.

He reached out and brushed the back of his fingers on that beating pulse of hers. Julie looked so inviting, yet Duncan knew the difference between looking inviting and having consent.

"When I say 'lovely woman' there is no one else but you."

"So, did you use those lines to all the women you picked at the bar?" she asked in a skeptical voice.

Her eyes never left his, even when they were almost a breath away from each other. He could feel the warmth of her breath. Duncan could also see a whole lot of conflicting emotions flashing across her face.

Fear, trepidation, irritation, a very very quick flare of desire. Duncan eased away a bit but rejoiced with the last emotion that he saw. Even if Julie felt the same emotions, accepting him in her life was the challenge he would gladly take on.

"Ah, Julie, lass, you wound me with your words," he said. "Do you think so low of me that I would be that desperate to pick women at a bar?"

"You sound weird. You do know we are in the 21st century, right?"

[Ah, she was a remarkable woman.] Duncan thought. For a man with good social status like him, women would throw themselves in his path. If he was another man, he would have glorified it.

However, he was not just a man.

"Would you permit me to kiss you?" He asked.

Something inside him stirred when Julie's eyes suddenly widened I panic. Duncan saw that she was not ready, not yet. It never hurts to ask though.

He drew back. As much as he wanted to taste those plump lips of hers, he would wait for her to be the one to ask for a kiss.

He was not an arrogant man to say think of that like it was a form of surrender. No, for him, Julie asking to be kissed was a form of acceptance of him.

He could see her demons at the very surface of her consciousness. He doesn't know the full extent of the pain she her and her children had endured. Mental and emotional scars were the hardest to heal.

When he saw her relaxed by the distance he had put, he picked up her hand and kissed her knuckles. Duncan saw how the hair on her arm was s raised by his action. He expected her to withdraw her hand but she didn't.

[One step at a time, Duncan.] he said to himself, as he watched Julie curl on her side of the sofa and read a book.

Julie Madrigal was worth waiting for. It doesn't matter if he got blue balls. What mattered was her.

Her needs, her wants, her desires. Her comfort and her children's too. Because for Duncan McLaren the greatest satisfaction was seeing them happy.

He looked at Julie who looked so peaceful. Duncan stood up and kissed her forehead before lifting her so he could carry her to her bedroom.

Soon...

So, Duncan's POV will be written in 3rd POV while Julie's will be in 1st. This is to have that authentic feeling of the FL.
