Marriage proposal

“My dear Valerie have a sit” the king gestured the sit in front of him.

“Thank you your highness I came to formally apologize for not attending the party yesterday” Valerie apologized but that wasn’t the only reason she came here it was also an opportunity to get out of that house.

“ We both know that’s not the reason you came here my dear and also how many times have I told you about being formal with me” King Samuel said with a smile knowing how she was.

“ I know it’s been hard for you my dear since your parents died you’ve had it rough for you, you’ve been keeping it all to yourself but I can’t see you like this my dear I promised your father I’ll look after you like my own child” the king was always found of her and wanted her to be the happy girl she once was knew.

“Thank you uncle but I can’t really on you, you’ve done so much for me already” Valerie knew the king was going to do anything for her but she had to do this on her own and not border him with her problems.

“This time I can’t take no for an answer because it will benefit both us” the king said with a convincing look as if what he was about to say could not be refused.

This made Valerie think of what could possibly benefit both her and the king, curious she asked “And what would that be uncle what would be of benefit to both of us”.

“I think you’ve already met my second son and I presume you met he lives in the states and has a few businesses there” Valerie already knows about all this but how does that have any thing to do with her.

“Yes I do know all this but how does that help me in any way” she doesn’t understand what the king was planning to do and where all this was heading to.

“I would like you to marry my son” once does words left the king mouth Valerie could not comprehend it was clear but sounded like a foreign language.

“I don’t understand this how can I marry the prince of all people your highness, I mean look at me and of what benefit is it to you or to the prince, he won’t accept this and I can’t accept it I’m sorry”.

This was not favorable to anyone even if she married the prince he won’t be happy, what if he loved someone, what if he doesn’t agree to this, all this thoughts were running in her head.

“Let me explain my dear calm down and listen to me, I’m not sure if you remember this but you and my son have met before when you were younger but he was a sick child he had a rear illness so he didn’t come out of his room very often”.

“What illness is it your highness and what do I have to do with it, I don’t even remember seeing him before” Valerie was still confused about what was happening.

“Calm down and listen like I said your were still young so you might not remember but you were the only person that gave us hope back then there was an incident that occurred and it traumatized him, he didn’t talk to anyone for months he became distant to us but later he started recovering from it or so we thought, when his mother tried touching him he got scared when she would touch him his nose would bleed and he would faint.. ” the king paused and took a deep breath.

It must have been hard for him to say it he was visibly in pain but he continued “his own mother couldn’t touch him it was hard for all of us but not only her but no female could touch or come close to him without causing an allergic reaction to him but then you came with your parents for a visit ,we went to the study while you and Alex went to play”.

“We suddenly heard a noise in room when we went upstairs we found his room in a mess but he wasn’t in his room we panicked and started looking for him like crazy but we found with you and to our greatest surprise he was hugging you and you were stroking his hair calming him down and nothing happened no allergic reaction nothing it was like there was hope again both for me and the queen” Valerie was trying her best to remember but to no avail but the look in the king’s eyes made her believe what she was hearing and she trusted him.

“When the doctor checked him they said you calmed him down and that you might have had a positive effect on him they said that you could cure him if you were by his side but we didn’t want to burden you with such a responsibility at such a young age so we sent him abroad for treatment, I want you to help my son Valerie please your my only hope”. This was the first time she had seen the king in distress he was sad and she could not see him like this it broke her heart.

“I will do it I’ll marry him for your sake and I understand that you are trying to help both of us so I will do it if the prince accepts to marry me” she said with a small smile.

The king was so happy he wanted both of them to be happy he couldn’t help but hug Valerie and tell her about everything else about how the prince illness was only triggered by something and that he would help her in her father’s business were he was a partner in.

They talked about a lot of things but Valerie only hope that she wasn’t going to regret her decision and that she wouldn’t be hurting anyone with her decision.

She never expected her visit to the king to be a proposal but what she never expected most was the life she had ahead of her.
