Chapter 28

Sitting in the office. there was an awkward silence between Riley and her father as she waited for Aiden to come. she waited for almost an hour because Aiden had something to finish " you guys didn't even give him a break " she broke the silence

" he doesn't need one " He responded. Wilson didn't what Riley and Aiden to get too close. He knew his daughter was stubborn and Aiden is the type that can not be controlled easily. before he got total control over Aiden, he had to insert a chip inside him so whenever he messed up he will suffer from pain for days as his punishment. Aiden has tried to commit suicide several to end the pain but never succeeded. if Riley and Aiden get too close Wilson fears that things may go wrong " what do you want with Aiden anyway"

" that is not your business?" she said

" I am your father " he reminded

" no. my father died two years ago. my father is a businessman and will never put people's life on the line to active something. my father is a sweet gentleman who loves his daughter so much and will never leave her all alone " she spoke sadly, trying to hold back her tears

" Princess I said I was sorry "

" And you think that is enough? you faked death and just showed up after two years. telling me all these crazy stories that I....." she hesitated. Riley bit her lower lips, then leaked it " I want to see Aiden. Because for now, he is the closes person I have. and I have some questions I want him to answer "

" ok. if his presence will help you calm down then...." she cut him off

" I am calm. I just need time to process all this. first, my best friend and her mother took away everything I had. the school weirdo turns out to be some spy protecting me. all of a sudden, from my messed up life, I become some important person being chased by scientists. suddenly I find out my father is alive. he turns out to be a scientist that used his daughter for a science experiment." she listed " I have had enough fucking surprise for one year "

suddenly there was a knock on the door " come in " the door opened and Aiden entered closing the door behind him. his eyes fell on Riley who looked glad to see him, immediately he looked away to Wilson

" you wanted to see me sir " it felt so good to hear his voice again. it wasn't even a day yet and she missed him that much

" I want you to show Riley around. let her get her mind off things " he instructed

" me? sir " Aiden was shocked. he never thought he would get to see her again after they got here. now he was letting him so her around. something doesn't seem right

" yes, you. I don't know what you did but my daughter seems to want you more than her own father " Aiden's eyes fell on Riley in shock. he thought that she would be angry with him when she finds out the truth

" oh " was all that came out of his mouth. Riley got up and walked up to him " I will make sure she is safe "

" Please do. " he smiled. Aiden was about to walk out " and Aiden " stopped him " you know the consequences of defying me right "

Riley noticed the fear in Aiden's eye. this was the first time she have ever seen fear in him. there is something she was unaware of. she has to ask him

" Don't worry sir " with that they both left the office. As they came out Riley reached for Aiden's hand but he immediately moved his hand away from her reach and started walking. Riley was was shocked at his behaviour and followed behind him. what is going on with him

" what's wrong?" she asked

" it's nothing " for some reason his answer hurt her. nothing? he just didn't want to hold her hand? she wondered to herself

" but why didn't you let me hold you," she said in a low tone " did I offend you?" instantly he stopped walking and so did her. turning around to face

" you didn't offend me, Riley. we just can't hold hands here "

" but my father is not here " with an eyebrow raised

" There are cameras everywhere " he informed. Riley lifted her head to find a camera directly above them

" holy shit " she cursed " no privacy for fucking sake "

" your language Riley "

" what are you going to do? kiss me? " she mocked

" oh yes, I will. just wait " he started walking again. Riley blushed hard and followed him

" I thought you will be upset with me," Aiden said feeling a bit nervous

" why?"

" Didn't your father tell you everything"

" he did "

" and you are ok with it?" he was confused

" I need some time to think " she replied. " I just wanted to know why you didn't tell me about him," she said looking down as they walk

" I was told not to " she nodded in understanding

" I see " looking around " is there a place we can go? this place has to my eyes "

" I know a place" he smiled. Aiden leaned down to her ear " my secret hid out " he whispered to her ear. Riley's face was filled with excitement when she heard this

" ok " she whispered. she followed him quietly until they took a turn. walking pass the quiet hallway. Riley wanted to hold his hand but she noticed the camera, which made her frown. he lead her to a door at the far end and opened it, revealing a staircase that led down into the dark " I can't see a thing"

" I know " Aiden offered his hand

" but the cameras "

" no cameras down here " he information. with a bright smile, she took his hand and he slowly led her down. it was so dark. that she could barely see a thing but Aiden seemed to know the way so she trusted him to protect her

the lower they got the darker it became till the stairs finally came to an end " here we are " he announced

" I can't see shit "

" again with your language" Aiden corrected. Aiden reached for the handle of that familiar door, turned it and the door opened. finally, they saw light " here " gesturing for her to go in first. Riley entered

" wow " they were in the engine room and it was unbelievably big " this is your hid out "

" yeah. not what you expected right?" he smiled

" Nope "

" no cameras here. no one ever comes down here unless it was an emergency. I come here when I want to get away from everything " looking around

" you must come here a lot " she had a worried tone

" year. life gets tiring sometimes "

" trust me I know that feeling " Aiden smiled at her words
