Chapter 3

After catching up with a few more people we all made our way to the auditorium where everything would happen.

They brought in an item called a secret mirror where participants can conduct their tasks without technical danger to themselves, though they can lose their recruited soldiers if they aren't some what careful. That could be a disaster for their future and is an automatic failure.

I would have to go for speed kills and just get as far as I could and hope for the best I think. Thankfully most monsters would actually come for me as while mine are a decent tier they aren't dragons who have an aura of power and can send weaker monsters as well as mid tier monsters scattering away from them forcing a chase.

"Students!" A slightly aged voice commanded everyone's attention and everyone quickly shut up. "When the Secret Mirror opens up the assessment will begin. Each of you will enter a separate space when you enter for your own individual assessments. Do your best in this as there will be many alliances watching as well as the eyes of everyone in your nation, if you score well, you will be well rewarded!" The students cheered at the end of that, everyone loves rewards.

As the principal pointed at the mirror it began to glow lightly. "Remember students that you will be timed on how far you get and how fast you get there! Do your best for your future and your country! Now… Begin!" He nearly bellowed and everyone ran towards the mirror, their 'demon waves' would all begin once the last person entered.

Before we entered I did manage to bid some of my friends good luck, some of them would need it as they did manage to get trash soldiers.

As I stepped through the portal my mind was filled with the cave attributes and mission objective detail of the assessment, not that we didn't already know it for the most part.

[Destroy all demon waves as fast as possible and progress as far as possible for the best score.]

[Choose difficulty - Easy, Normal, Hard]

[The assessment will last until you quit or your first unit dies, losing a unit is an automatic failure of the assessment, knowing when to leave the battlefield is also important]

I sighed internally I was conflicted honestly. I wanted to choose the nightmare setting but I also didn't want to risk my soldiers, I also don't have plot armor. I figure I can probably have a good showing in the Difficult setting at least, though while my units seem to have potential, they are just starting out, barely level 2 as it is so they are at their weakest and I barely know what they can really do at the moment other than the very basics. Angels creatures of holy essence and light, there powers also revolve around such usually… they tend to be better in larger numbers and at range for the most part though some are close in fighters that can create light swords or spears. I had decided to choose Hard...

As soon as the light dissipated from around me, my four Angels were already surrounding me. They appear on every side of me already prepared to protect me from whatever dangers we would face, which kind of made me feel slightly emasculated as I should be in the low Tier-2 range regarding strength, that's not a lot even compared to my potentially weakest angels at tier 5 but its not a weak baseline human at least.

None of my Angels had any weapons as they didn't exactly need them as their attacks were all light magic based. My Angels used last night to pretty good effect as they had done their best to level up, though tier 1 or 2 demonic meat wouldn't do too much for tier 5-9 soldiers, at level 1 it would still help to move them up slightly.

[Irina - Angel- Seraph -Tier-8 - Level 2 - Skills - lightning based, Static, Holy Lightning bolt, Chain Lightning(will only hit enemies), healing.] these are the skills she started with as a Tier 8 existence, its a small blessing i guess considering the test is to kill as fast as possible.

[Kasandra - Angel - Tier 7 - Level 2 - Skills - light spear, light shield, healing.]

[Kendra - Angel - Tier 7 - Level 2 - Skills - light arrows, healing.]

[Indri - Angel - Tier 7 - Level 2 - Skills - Magic holy lightning, healing.]

Overall it was not really too bad, I am hoping we can go fairly far but I guess it will depend on what they throw at us. [Demon waves will begin in 10 seconds. Demon waves wont stop until you surrender or the assessment ends.]

With that the timer ended after 10 seconds and the first group of monsters appeared.... they were only slimes and I could feel not but pity for them. Irina simply looked in their direction, there were only 6 of them. They died with squeaks from the pressure of Irinas raw power as she focused her killing intent on them. I would have laughed if I had the time and this wasn't the place for that.

A few seconds later Large Plague Rats entered the field a few dozen meters from us, hissing away in our direction. There were 9 of them and they died from a negligent twirl of my new favorite Angels hand as large bursts of static launched from it, quickly engulfing the group before they could even think of fleeing or scattering, they lay twitching and died quickly after.

I guess I should mention that Slimes have no known combat potential and may as well be Tier-0 while most rats are Tier1, though these Plague Rats were Tier-2 but only level 10 at best.

The next group of monsters soon appeared in another flash of light in near the same spot and another burst of Static was already heading to the direction of where the monsters were forming. I guess I should also mention that higher Tier soldiers tend to have sensory abilities especially if they are of intelligent races like Angels or selves and such and Succubus or any other humanoids. So Irina could sense where they were forming before they even completely formed in this field.

And just like that a large cluster of Poison Spiders were snuffed out from existence, with the help of a volley of different holy magic type arrows from one of the other angels. They almost died instantly.

That is how it continued to go until it finally got to the nitty gritty and stronger and larger hoards started to show up. I am glad my Angels have extremely good perception and eyesight as they have been ending most waves before they can even really start no matter where the monsters showed up. Irina was a capable commander and basically pointed the others in the correct direction while i basically sat here and watched the busty Angels slaughter monsters in what amounts to fetish armor.

after 15 minutes of this and finally getting to the higher Tier monsters in the Tier-6-7 range i began to sweat. My girls were still killing them swiftly but it was beginning to take longer and longer to end the waves. It wasnt their fault really, there was nothing they could do but hold on and survive. Thats not to mention that im basically useless at this point, I cant kill a Tier 3 much less a Tier 6 or 7 especially not with my bare hands.
