Chapter 44: Joe
Joe woke up early the next morning, well before sunrise. He lay there in bed, listening to the deafening silence of the house. When he got out of bed, he ventured downstairs into the kitchen. He could almost smell the fresh-brewed coffee his father made each day. He walked over and stood at the counter and looked to the horizon.
He could begin to see a light glow in the sky. He leaned on the counter taking a deep breath, then sighed loudly. Joe went into the living room and found his keys then started for the door and looked back to the kitchen to his father's chair. He took a deep breath and slung his camera over his shoulder, then walked out the door to his truck and drove to the hillside.
