Nada gets a message from Bela saying that her stepmother is coming home because she has finished going to the salon. And now, Nada is ready for it.
Every corner of the house is clean and it is undeniable that this house is very neat and much more pleasing to the eye than before Bela's departure.
She prefers to relax by spending her free time watching television. Enjoying the spectacle of electronic devices, accompanied by packaged orange juice which she always buys to stock at home.
So many thoughts ran through Nada like a scary figure in a mirror. Of course, she couldn't understand her current fate. Already living with her stepmother who never gave her affection, and now she has to live with being haunted by some scary figures who terrorize her. If so, who would Nada like to turn to for help? She was 100% sure that other people would never believe what she said, even though what she said contained a truth that only he could feel.
Alex? That seems very unlikely. They are indeed close, but it is undeniable that this man will not believe his words. Alex didn't understand Nada's meaning. So, how can one believe in something that is unseen and has no evidence?
Knock
Knock
Knock
(door knocking sound)
"That must be my mom who just got home from spending too much money at the salon." Mumbling tone.
Bela's presence makes Nada uncomfortable. A woman who always acts as she pleases and always hides behind her father's body, this is what makes her unable to fight and in the end, looks like a pathetic girl.
"Mom's home!" Bela's exclamation was heard, it immediately entered Nada's sense of hearing, who now immediately changed her position from lying on the sofa to sitting up straight.
Just watch for a second, whatever Nada does will always be wrong in Bela's eyes. "M-mother are you back home?" She asked in a nervous tone.
Bela had reached the same room as Nada, but only a few steps away so she wouldn't get too close to her stepson. She looked at Nada, then her eyes turned to the television screen that was on.
"Who let you watch television? Didn't I tell you not to use electronic equipment without Mom's permission? Huh? Then our electricity bill will increase." Bela said, she walked over to pick up the television remote on the table opposite Nada. Immediately turn off the television to live frugally.
Nada looked at Bela because she could hardly believe what her stepmother was doing, who always limited what she did. "But, Mom. Haven't touched the ten minutes I've been watching television, but why is it turned off?" She asked, confused.
"You have a problem with your ears or something, huh? I told you to be thrifty."
"But this is my house, and the things in this house are also mine."
"So you want? Well, no problem. But you need to remember that your father only agreed with the rules I made in this house, so no one can argue, including you."
Nada is angry. Her life was in danger the whole day, now the fight with her mother irritated her like anger rose to the top of her head and after that spread throughout her body.
"I can't watch television, I can't play with my friends. Even in my daily life, I just go to college, do my homework, and after that, I become a slave. My biological mother was not rude, loving me so much. You are too cruel for the position of mother, even I was not given free time just to rest." In the end, Nada chose to express her feelings.
Bela does not accept that she is always equated with a dead woman as if she is a bad person when that is the reality.
"No pocket money for tomorrow! Use your savings, for today also no dinner for you, cook your food."
"Yeah fine, no problem," Nada said as if she didn't want to expect much anymore.
Bela who heard Nada's response made herself angry again, she snorted. "Oh, this kid wants to be locked up in a room." She said angrily, then walked towards Nada and grabbed the girl's hand roughly to follow her every step.
The tone grimaced, now she shook her head many times, she felt pain in her wrist. However, the pain was not the main thing. She was afraid that Bela would lock her in the room. Which is a sense... gosh! SOMEONE PLEASE, SHE IS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION!
Not even 5 minutes into her room, Bela had made Nada seem to have lost her mind because she could meet this annoying creature again.
"Mom, don't. Let go of my hand, Mom. Please really, I don't want to be like this... Don't lock me in my room, I'm scared." Said Nada as she struggled to free herself from Bela's grip on her wrist.
Bela took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. She would not forgive Nada, so she still dragged her stepson until now she was in front of the door of the room in question.
"I'll tell your dad later that you don't want to be disturbed in your room, say you study hard and I've given you food, snacks, and drinks," Bela said with a lopsided smile that graced the surface of her face.
Nada was already crying, she shook her head, even now she hit Bela's hand which was still holding her wrist to keep it from running away. "Please... sorry don't lock me up. I promise after this I won't argue with what you said, I beg you." She said with sad eyes, she didn't even mind if it was like begging for forgiveness now.
"No mercy for you, a rebellious girl like you should be taught a lesson, Nada."
Bela with all her might immediately dragged Nada violently, opened the bedroom door, then threw Nada's body without mercy. She quickly closed the door so that Nada could not escape. She also didn't forget to lock the door with satisfaction.
"Don't you dare escape through the window, or I'll increase your punishment!"
While Nada was in her room, now she brought her body closer to the wall. She sat huddled in the corner of the room, crying silently and trying not to make a sound that would invite the creature in the mirror to greet her again.
No, surely Nada couldn't help but make the slightest sound. Fortunately, she had completed all the assignments from the campus. So, she could calmly just sit in the corner of the room doing nothing.
With Nada now pleading with God, she recited a prayer to avoid the calamity that seemed to have been foretold to befall her. Bela is evil, and Nada doesn't like being treated unfairly. She wants Bela to be punished for what she did to her too.
However, since moving into this mysterious house, she prefers to stay away from punishments involving her bedroom and a room with multiple mirrors because 'they' can monitor what she is doing now or in the future.
