On The Way

Marcellus and Demi looked at each other, "Errrrr! We are taking our leave. Enjoy your time, guys." Demi giggled, pulling Marcellus by his hand as they ascended to the stairs.

"Why are you here? I told you that I need some time." Theresa spoke in a low voice.

"I was worried about you. I heard from Demi that you fainted so I....." Egan stopped right there, incompleting his sentence.

"So you decided to come here by flapping your wings, right?"

Egan was bewildered by her question, "I know Theresa, it's difficult for you, and honestly I don't expect you to accept me. If you wish then you can break your engagement with me, I wouldn't say a word but I cannot accept the distance between us. I cannot lose you." Egan's golden eyes hinted a sign of fright of losing Theresa. He kneeled down on his knees and lowered his head. His each words etched genuiness and love. Egan was shaking as emptiness swallowed his heart.

"Stop blurting nonsense things, Egan." Theresa also got on her knees. She raised Egan's head and cupped his cheeks, "You not being a Human doesn't change how I feel for you. You're my best buddy and you will always be. I accept you for being you and I am not leaving you Egan." Theresa's eyes were filled with tears, she felt relieved as she shared her true intentions to Egan. Theresa had been keeping this in her heart for the past days, burdening her peace.

Egan started crying as he hugged Theresa tightly by her waist. Theresa lightly pressed a kiss on his head as she affectionately brushed his hair.

The morning was warm and welcoming by the soft tweeting of birds. Last night was a bittersweet experience for both, Theresa and Egan.

Theresa was calling her mom but Thalia was not picking up the call. She was worried as well as sorry for speaking to her mother in that way. She resented herself, "I'm such a foolish girl, only if I wouldn't have talked rudely with Mom."

"Lost in your thoughts again?" Demi walked inside Theresa's room.

"Where are your manners, Demi?" Theresa raised her eyebrows.

"Well, you hadn't close your door so I decided not to knock the already opened door." Demi gave a wide smile. "Is something wrong, Ther? You look pale." Her smile disappeared instantly after seeing Theresa's worried face.

"Mom is not receiving my call." A thin line formed between Theresa's brows.

"You know how Mom is, her anger will cool down soon." Demi patted her sister's back.

"I see, she told you everything. It's all my fault, only if I hadn't forgot my memory then I wouldn't have talked rudely with her." Theresa sighed, staring at the wind-chime hanging in the rail.

Demi pulled Theresa in her embrace and squeezed her tightly, "It's not your fault, don't blame yourself."

Theresa nodded, sadness was still hovering on her face and heart.

"Anyways, we are going out for a trip. Pack your clothes and other essentials. Make sure to add a long skirt and a long sleeve top. Well, you can add a scarf too if you want."

"Wait, what?" You gotta be shitting me. Where the hell are we going?" Theresa was astonished by her sister's sudden plan.

"Well, I'm not. Hehe, we're going to Meteora. Yayy!!" Demi was super excited for this trip.

"Why all of a sudden?" Theresa knitted her eyebrows.

"Don't ask me questions. I need to get ready too. Meet me in the living room after an hour. Also, the boys will be joining us." Demi winked before leaving the room.

"Oh my god. I can't believe this, the four of us are going to a trip together for the very first time." Theresa took a deep breathe and opened the closet, scanning through the outfits, her eyes laid on a black v-line top and tube brown baggy jeans. She decided to wear it with a Daniel Wellington Petite Evergold Mesh Strap Watch on her right hand and a thin c-shaped bracelet on the left. Theresa carried a minimalist flap square bag, her hair loose curls and a pair of brown peep-toe sandals completed her whole look. Theresa packed up all her essentials, from her skincare to her clothes, she adjusted it all inside one travel bag. She descended down the stairs and found out her Dad, Darion, sitting in the sofa, seeping a cup of coffee and reading newspaper in the living room.

The living room was painted dusty rose colour on the walls and a brown colour on the ceiling. The dusty rose tint offered a warm and delightful feeling. The sofa is sepia in colour that blended very well with a halo embroidered silk curtains. The floor rug covered most of the room, a table was placed in the middle of the room. Facing the sofa, a 42 inch LCD television is wall-mounted and by its side, there was a bookshelf which hold a number of books and magazines. The walls of the living room showcased the childhood of Theresa and Demi, along with their family photo inside the white frames.

"Dad!" Theresa dropped the travel bag in the floor and rushed to hug her Dad.

"Oh my dear!" Darion put his newspaper aside and welcomed Theresa in a big warm hug.

"I missed you so much, Dad." Theresa giggled.

"I missed you too, my dear." Darion brushed his lips in Theresa's forehead. "Last night, I had my night duty so I couldn't return home but your Granny told me everything. I see you're being negligent towards your health." Darion's black eyes glowed with seriousness and concern.

"This, Granny." Theresa murmured. "It's not like that, Dad. I take care of myself." Theresa put her hands against the back of Darion's hand and comforted him.

Darion has always been an ultimate health junkie, he loved his daughters a lot and is super protective of them. Being in his late 40s, he looked young than his age and was in good shape.

"I heard that you, Demi, Egan and Marcellus are going to Meteora." Darion went back on reading the newspaper

"Well, yes, we are going now, Dad." Demi hugged Darion from the back, she wore a slip dress which showed her fine collarbones. Demi appeared out of nowhere in the living room.

"The boys are waiting for us, let's go." Demi glanced at her sister.

"Let me accompany both of you upto the car." Darion followed his daughters outside where Egan and Marcellus were waiting for them.

"Have a safe journey, guys. Enjoy your time in Meteora. Also, take care of my Theresa, okay?" Darion waved them a goodbye.

"Demi raised her right hand up to her headgear and performed a salute, "Yes, sir." Seeing Demi's gesture, everyone chuckled.

"This daughter and father." Brooklyn rolled her eyes as she waved them goodbye.

"Morning, girls." Marcellus greeted them. "Morning." Theresa responded with a smile but Demi decided to remain silent.

Egan stepped forward, "Give me your bags, I'll keep it in the trunk."

Theresa and Demi sat on the back seat while Egan sat on the front, Marcellus drove the car. The afternoon sunlight slanted through the window shimmering Theresa's brown eyes as she stared at the white clouds that drifted leisurely in the blue sky. After such a long time, Theresa was going out for a trip. Egan's lips formed a smirk as he peeked at Theresa through the rearview mirror. Demi caught him red-handed, "Someone has a great audacity to stare at my sister in my presence, huh?."

Egan was caught off-guard, without showing his surprisement, he diverted his attention to the road. His cheeks turned pink with embarrassment.

Theresa simpered, seeing Egan's pink cheeks.

"Anyways, where are we staying tonight?" Demi brought her head between the two front seats.

"I don't know." Egan answered, covering his pink cheeks.

"What do you mean by you don't know? Weren't you the one who planned this whole trip?" Demi frowned.

Marcellus cleared his throat.

"Wait, what? You planned this trip?" Theresa was bewildered after hearing Demi.

Egan raked his hand through his hair and remained quiet.

"Oops, that was supposed to be a secret. My bad!" Demi bit her lower lip.

"It's fine. The choice of location comes down to two areas: the town of Kalabaka and the neighbouring village of Kastraki. As the larger of the two, Kalabaka has more accommodations and restaurants. Kastraki, on the other hand, is a small village with a quaint atmosphere."

"If that's the case then let's stay in Kastraki." Upon saying it, Theresa closed her eyes to take a short nap, just to fall in a deep sleep.
