The Loner - The cursed fate

It was the day where everything goes wrong for Den. Den went to school as usual, early in the morning and he was waiting for Sam and Jenny to get into the school, standing like a idiot in front of the entrance. The school was already starting but he was the only one who came to school early and didn't go inside the school. He called Jenny, wanting to know that she is okay or not and why didn't come to school. But she didn't answer his phone. None of the them answer his phone. Finally, left with no choice, he went into the school and prepared for the lesson, as it was the only thing he was good at. But as soon as Den went into the class, all the students were playing around and chatting with their friends, not paying attending to the teacher in front of them speaking something.

He went straight to the teacher Khai and asked about "why aren't the classes starting? ".

Teacher Khai: Oh, Didn't you know? There was a announcement from the government to cancel all the works, and stay at home with family this morning. It was kind of late of announce that is why we are currently trying to send the kids home and contacting their family. Just in case, why aren't go gather your friends and head to the headmaster office, he said he want to talk to you about something important?

Den: Yes, I will teach. Uhmm~ teach, I think Sam and Jenny didn't come to school today.

Teacher Khai: What? I saw them early this morning in school. They came to school very early and they seemed very energetic to come to school. And I forgot to tell them that all classes are dismissed today, if you see them, can you tell them plz?

He became quiet and just nod his head. He was questioning himself that why they didn't answer the phone. In confuse, he started looking for them. He checked every room in school but he didn't find them. He started panicking because he didn't find them everywhere but then he remembered that the three of them used to play around in the building A which was rumored as a hunted house, he went into the building and saw at the corner of the corridor, there was a room with the light open.

His heart started beating fast, finally he got to see his friends after long school break. He wanted to surprise them so he quietly stepped to the door and opened it.

Den: "Surprise! Guys, I have been looking for you guys all morning why aren't answering the phone. Really..."

But unlike his expectation, Sam and Jenny were making love as if they knew each other as a couple. He was clueless and his mind went blank as soon as he saw them.

After a while, the reality kicked in and he started to ask question.

Den: Wait, what are you doing? It is some kind of a prank, Jenny, Sam, don't joke me like that?

Sam: Dude, just calm down. I will tell you everything. It started before this break. I am sorry bro. I really love her, i can't control myself.

Den: What the hell are you talking about?

Jenny; Yes, Den. I have been feeling that our relationship is empty. Now, i know, I didn't really have feeling for you, it was just admiration, i have upon you. Sorry, Den.

Den: Not you too, Jenny. U know how much I love you? Don't you? Don't do this to me.

Jenny: I m sorry, Den. The one i loved is Sam, I thought I have feeling for you. Look like I was wrong.

Den: What? What are you saying? Why are u doing this to me?

Den started to get closer to Sam and Jenny, starting to get angry and confuse at the same time. Sam stepped in and told him to back off and that he was making Jenny scared,

Compared to Sam, Den is smaller in body size and Sam is much stronger and muscular as well as handsome. He couldn't do anything against Sam and he was full with anger, sorrow and regret at the same time.

Den: Jenny, We are done.

Jenny was acting like scared, and when he said that line, her face leaked a little smile as if her true intention were leaking out a bit.

He hold his anger, with his red face, he slowly walked back to the classroom. But there was a voice whispering into his ear,

"Huh? Really, who do you think you are? I disgusted being with you? Alright, I never wanted to your girlfriend in the beginning, you are just my toy whenever I can play to begin with. If Sam didn't tell me to act like your girlfriend to take your money and make you pay for tuition fees for both of us, I wouldn't do in the first place. You looked like you can't even satisfied my desire. The name "Loser" suited u very well."

"It was a good idea that i told Jenny to be his girlfriend, If not, I have to work my ass off to pay for my tuition fees and don't have time to train for the first place in physical exam. It was a little bit disappointing, you were a useful piece. You should be called a "Loser", you should be called a "Slave"."

As if something was whispering into his ears, he kept hearing voices, he was walking back to the home building and along the way, he heard a lot of voices as if they were the people's inner voices. While he was lost in thoughts, teacher Khai approached him and told him to go to the headmaster office straight away.

The Headmaster: Den, I know you are hardworking child. But your grades have been dropping recently. And I think, we can't keep you as the candidate of the government program anymore, therefore, all your scholarships and supporting will be retreated starting from next months and you will have to pay for your own tuitions fees. Until now, Den was a scholarship student and he was working overnight to pay for his sister's tuition fees and he used all his saved money that he got from the "supporting program" for Sam and Jenny.

The government program is a mysterious program that gives various of full scholarships and support programs for healthy growth including fees for diet and extra cash, losing that means Den got nothing left as he knew it was impossible to take pay for both of Den Den's and his tuition fees on his own, addition to that, his family is barely surviving depend on his father retired salary and his daily wages.

Headmaster: So, we decided to give you place to Sam, the boy who got first place in the physical test and his academic grades also have potential. I think he is your friend, right? You should study and practice like he did.

Of course, he is. That bastard was looting everything from me from the beginning and I didn't know that. What a idiot am I. So, all his excuse about his mother being in the hospital and his club activities are all lies. Moreover, he betrayed my trust, why? why? why? why? why? what the hell? Is this really happening?

Den was slowly walking down the corridor as if his soul is leaving his body, by that time, he saw Den Den walking towards him, chatting and laughter together with her friends he reached his hand towards her and was about to say something and then

Den Den's friend1: Den Den, that guy over there is your brother right? What a weirdo, why is he so different with our Den Den, school queen, right? Are you guys really brother and sister? He has a weak body and on top of it, he look like a uncle, if i were you, i can't stay in the house as him, because i am afraid of him trying to do something to me.

Den Den's friend2: I know right? I heard that his girlfriend Jenny is cheating on him with his best friend, Sam. I am not faking it, it is really, my friends saw them kissing and hugging each other in the boys' toilet back then.

Den Den's friend1: Really, but wait. Why is your friend in the boys' toilet?

Den Den's friend2: She is with her boyfriend from Class-A, u know that? The only thing couples do in the toilet, right? I think you are not a no clue idiot like Den, right? She said that she heard their chatting. Apparently, Den was set up from the start, Sam and Jenny were already couples back then, and they were just trying to mess with him. Really, I heard like that from my friend.

Den Den's friend1: Yep, I were her place, then. I wouldn't think of dating someone like Den, that guy is speechless, dull and always alone all the time. Sam is far more better than him and Sam and cheerful and handsome as well. Hey, Den Den, is your brother adopted? OMG, look look, he is pointing at us.

After hearing their saying, Den retreated his hand and silently standing while waiting for them to pass him by the side. But something was whispering into his ears again, "what is wrong with him?" "staring at us" "creepy" "his height is average but he is ugly as hell, I would never date a guy like him if i were Jenny". He was shocked and when he looked at Den Den, "pathetic!" "To think that a loser like him is my brother" "I hate him, I wish i never had a brother like him".

After hearing all that, Den had nothing to say, the light in his eyes was long gone, tears started to drop one by one, as he continued walking, his soul was leaving his body slowly.

That day was raining outside, Den was going back home, slowly walking in the rain, without an umbrella, his clothe, bag and his body were dripping wet. And the pair of mother and child passed by,

Child: Mom, look, look. That onii is walking in the rain without an umbrella.

Mom: Shuuu... Don't point at him. It is none of your business. Remember, if you saw a guy like him in street, be aware to avoid him Ok?

Child: Ok, but i want to play in the rain, can't I?

Mom: No, I don't want u to be sick. U don't want to be look like pathetic like that guy, don't you?

Den couldn't stand that anymore, he suddenly ran to the nearby hill where the shrine is built at the top of it. He ran up to there, when he reached the shrine, he screamed,

Den: "Ah....., this world is fucking crazy, what do u want me to do? Huh? Go die yourself, I want to die. What am I? A loser? Fuck you! Fuck your standards, fuck your world!

After shouting, Den's mind was blank, his eyes were lightless and he took sharp pencil and tried to stab himself straight to the neck, and then, the multiples of flashback appeared in his head, he hesitated,

Den's father: "The man duty is to protect his family, don't worry, den. Father is strong even if I m retired, I can still work for my child. I won't let my child to be look down upon in the so called society".

Den's mother: "I nearly died back then,

Den: Why did you do that mom?

Den's mother: I had no regret, I didn't give up so that I can take you twos into this world, Den and I think I had done the right thing, you and den den are my most precious treasures. When mom and dad are gone, you have to take care of your sister, ok?

Den: But i didn't want mom and dad to go, I want to live forever with you guys.

Den's mother: Promise me that you will take care of your sister, den den even if we are gone, You don't want mama and daddy to worry about you guys, don't you?

Den: I promise, Mom.

Den's mother: That's my son. Now, come here, let me pad your head like a baby.

Den: Mommmmmm.....

Then, he remembered his sister first talking about him, Den Den called him "Brother".

I can't die yet, I promised my mother, I promised myself not to make my family suffer again. I will rise, even if the world doesn't want me to. If anything dares to block my path, i will destroy it whatever it is, whoever he is. What is this? Earthquake?

Then suddenly siren went loudly as far as it can reach, and everything was shaking as if the entire earth was shaking to the core, Den suddenly went down the hill and as he was running back to home, he called his mom and dad, sister.

Den: Mom, are you ok? Where is dad? Is he at home? Did Den Den come back to home yet?

Den's Mother: Your dad? He is on business trip, where are you? Why didn't you come home? Stay in the plain field, don't run into the building? Son? Son... SON!

While talking to the phone, Den was hit by a car, driving recklessly on the street, he flew away and hit on the ground as his consciousness was fading away. Mom.... No, I can't die yet. I... I.... I.. am sleepy, want to sleep..... ! I wish everything happening today was a dream...
