“Why not Maggie?” Cam asked.
“She went through a lot in all this, too. She didn’t think she could be objective.”
Cam nodded and looked away.
“Maggie is a hell of a woman, isn’t she? She did a lot to find you. She and Paul were searching for you all that time.”
“I understand that. I’m grateful.”
“They’re good friends, aren’t they?”
Cam nodded.
“I’ve heard you call him Pauly. Where did that name come from?”
Cam gave a short chuckle. “The first time I met his parents, his mother said ‘Pauly did this’ and ‘Pauly said that’. I know he wished I hadn’t heard it but I did. He’s been Pauly ever since.”
“He seems to handle it well,” Norma observed.
Cam nodded. “Yes, I guess he does,” she added.
“I understand you’ve started physical therapy. Are you walking around, yet?” Norma asked
“I’m walking with a cane right now,” Cam explained, “But I’m getting stronger.”
