"You can just call me Ari"
"Okay, then call me Theo"
The kids were on the herb garden, sitting inside the gazebo. Evianna's middle name was Aristelle and Sean's middle name was Theodore, this is where they got their nicknames for each other.
"How old are you?" asked she while playing with a chamomile flower.
"4, you?"
"I just turned 3 last May, how about you? When is your birthday?"
"November 11, you? What day is your birthday?"
"May 23" she replied as she flashed a light smile
"What do you like to do? I like to play the piano and read books" He said
"Well, I don't know how to play any instrument but I would love too and I also usually just read books" she replied
"Y--You can already read?" he asked in surprise
"What's up with that reaction? Aren't you also too young to be able to read?"
He scratched his head, "Well, I was tutored by a specialist ever since I was a kid. Are you also? "
"No, it came to me naturally" she boasted
His eyes squinted, "Yeah right"
She giggled, "What books do you usually read?"
"History, Philosophy, Maths and some novels" he replied
"Philosophy? Are you sure you're a 4 years old boy?"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Ahh... Nothing, I just thought old people are the one usually interested in that stuff"
"Hey! That's rude! You can say that WISE PEOPLE are the one usually interested in this stuff" he said puffing his chest up
She jokingly scoffed, "Wow, so you wanna say that you're one of those 'Wise men'?"
"Hmmp, Of course! " he exclaimed
She rolled her eyes in response, "Want to go visit our library? "
"Yeah sure, it's getting kind of boring here" he replied
"Hey it's not! Just look around and you'll find interesting stuff!" she protested
"All we can see are herbs! What's interesting with that?"
She grunted, "Whatever, you just can't see their beauty" she said as she lead Sean inside their house.
They saw their parents in the middle of a discussion, "Mum, we're just going to be on the library" Ari announced
"Sure my loves" Evelina replied as the two kids went to the library.
When they entered the library, Sean was shocked to see how big the library is, "I say! You have bigger library than ours"
"Really?"
"Yup" he replied as they scanned the bookshelves
"What do you want to read?" she asked him
"Hmmm, what do you suggest?"
"Well, OK currently reading about etiquette, how about you?"
"Etiquette?"
"Yeah, haven't you studied that?"
"I did, but I only had a teacher coming in our house to teach me basic etiquette and that's it"
She jokingly sniffed as if she was crying as she ranted how unfair it was, "NO!! How can this be! I also have a tutor for my etiquette but I was also expected to know the theories, history and stuff. Bohohohoho~" she faked cry
"Stop that, that's so not cute" he said
Ari stopped and froze, her mouth open, "A-- what?! Hey! That's rude! You can't say that to a girl!" she complained
"Oh! Sorry, I forgot that your a girl" he teased
Jaw dropped, "A--- wow Theo, wow" she said shaking her head as she heard him chuckled.
She rolled her eyes, "Hmmph! Whatever, don't talk to me" she said as she went on her table to pick up her book she was reading a while ago and sat on a bean bag chair. Sean giggled as he scanned the book shelf until he saw a book about philosophy and then sat on a bean bag chair beside Ari. The room was engulfed with silence but flipping of pages could be heard from time to time. Sometimes, one of them would talk but after that small talk, silence would again fall, but the silence wasn't awkward, it was a comfortable one.
"Hey, do you have any friends of your age?" she asked while holding her book
"None" he replied not roving his gaze from his book he was reading
"Same" she said
"Then let's be friends" he said and then he looked at her
She looked back, "Hmmm, now that's difficult"
"hey! You should be thankful that you'll have such a handsome boy being your friend!"
She scoffed, "No, YOU should be grateful that you'll have such a beautiful girl being your friend!"
"Okay, then we're friends"
She shrugged, "Okay" she replied and the silence continued.
Minutes after, " Theo what's your email by the way?"
"Why?"
"So I can contact you! Duh!"
"stheodore.scotts@royalkingdommail.com"
"Oh wait" she said as she stood up and went on the gable to get a note and a pen, "What was that again?"
"stheodore.scotts@rohalkinhdommail.com" he replied and Ari wore his email to the notepad
"Thanks!"
A knock came outside of the door and then it opened to reveal a young maid, "Young Miss, Lady Evelina said that it is fine for tea" she stated
"Okay, thank you. Well be there" she replied and then looked at Sean, "Let's go! I'm starving" she said and Sean nodded in reply. The two went to the dining hall and saw their parents already sitting around the dining table.
The two families then started eating and they would start a discussion from time to time. After they ate, the Scott family went back to their home.
"Bye, Anna please come again" Evelina said
"Thank you Evie! We will" Anna replied as they hugged each other
"Why don't you guys come to our house when you have time" Joe said
"Yeah, sure" said Arthur and the shook each other's hand
Sean waved at Ari, "Bye"
"Bye, It's nice meeting you"
"Also a pleasure in meeting you" he replied and smiled at her
She smiled back and the family went out.
Ari was now sitting beside her window staring at the sky with her book on her lap. She never expected that she and Sean would click since Sean is a child but she never expected that Sean was very mature for his age.
She smiled gently, "What a life! I made a very good friend today and I have such a loving family! I couldn't be more happier" she thought
And this is the day where she met her best friend for life.
