"Tsk! I won't sneak past them..." Kakashi grunted. The crowd of the zombies, just barely 20 meters ahead of him, made no room for him to go unnoticed between them.

He glanced at the time, it was 15:03 already. Longer than he estimated. Right now he took cover behind the wreck of a car that crashed in the side of the building. The driver flew through the windshield and smashed his head onto the wall.

Just over the wreck, Kakashi spotted a broken window leading into the staircase. It probably broke when the car hit it. Kakashi focused his hearing on the inside of the building.

It was quiet, the only sound was coming from the turned ones, mainly growls or grunts, but they were coming from the street.

He put down his bag and threw it over the edge of the window. The broken glass cracked under the impact, but not enough to alarm anyone. Using the advantage that the closest Zs were facing the school, Kakashi walked on the car wreck and grabbed the window frame pulling himself inside the staircase. He could feel the shards of broken glass under his fingers, but thankfully he wore tactical gloves, otherwise, his hands would be full of nasty cuts.

Now inside, Kakashi made his way to the highest floor hoping to get to the roof, but the doors were locked. Instead, he went to the window facing the streets.

In front of him was the wide-open gate, it looked like someone already escaped, or at least tried. The school itself was surrounded by three meters high wall making it hard for someone normal to climb up.

On the left side, excluding Zs, was nothing but the cars, some intact and some not. On the right were a few stores and a cafe, a place where previously youths used to hang out now had a smashed window with three walkers wandering inside.

'Main entrance is a no-go for me. If I can make it to the right side of the wall, I could climb over it.' He remembered that when Nino enrolled in the school, he made a round around the building and also memorized the layout of the facility. Just in the case of an emergency. Anyway, the right side should have some holes in it making it easier to climb from the outside. He hoped that the school didn't repair it yet.

Kakashi looked at the roofs of the two buildings inside the school perimeter. He hoped to see Nino on top of one of them and he did. She was together with four other students. He breathed a sigh of relief.

'She's fine at least... Damn it. Having stun grenades would be great..!' As he thought that, there seemed to be a commotion on the top of the building where Nino's group was. A group of the students was pushed back by the zombies that intruded on a roof.

His eyes widen when he saw that one of the infected ran past the two boys and one girl, and dashed at the pink-haired girl.

On the rooftop.

"Guys! Run to the observatory!" Nino shouted informing the rest.

Takashi took down two, as well as Rei, and Hisashi killed one, but there were too many of them. And unlike anyone could imagine, fighting was really tiring! Rei was doing the best out of the three as she trained the art of the spear for a long time, but she couldn't do everything herself. Plus, Nino and Tomoe didn't have any weapons to help.

The three were fending off the zombies while retreating towards the observatory. To their horror, the number of Zs didn't decrease, it was growing!

"Run! Leave them-!" Shouted Nino but was interrupted by Hisashi.

"Nakano! Watch out!" Hisashi cried out causing Nino to flinch.

Looking to her right she saw a zombie faster than the rest. An Infected slipped between the three and dashed towards the vulnerable Nino.

From her perspective, the time slowed down. She could take a good look at the face of the monster that will end her life. His greenish skin, black veins which made random patterns across his body. And those white, soulless eyes. She saw Hisashi and Tomoe rushing towards her for the rescue, but both won't make it.

'Why...' The sole question echoed in her mind. She closed her eyes, she didn't want to see it, the way she will die.

But her death didn't come.

*PAK!*

*Splash!*

Instead of a painful death she expected, she heard a strange noise and something wet was splashed on her clothes. Nino opened her eyes only to find dead infected with a hole in its head. The dark blood was flowing out on the ground.

'Eh? What happened? What was that sound?' She looked at Tomoe and Hisashi, but they were as confused as she was.

In the next second the same sound tore through the air. The undead around them started falling to the ground with holes in their heads or necks, some even get decapitated. Whenever they heard that sound, it was accompanied by another killed zombie.

In mere seconds, 20 of them were turned into permanent corpses.

The group was shocked at what just happened, Takashi and Rei froze momentarily as their opponents died suddenly.

"Don't stand there, idiots! Run!" Tomoe shouted bringing them back to reality.

Takashi took Rei's hand and both sprinted towards the observatory. More of Them started pouring out of the staircase.

Kakashi swiftly replaced an empty magazine and put it inside the pocket on his vest. He now has only four magazines left. Fortunately, the distance wasn't too great and he didn't miss a single shot.

The zombies below, alarmed by the noise he made, started walking toward his place. He could hear a few infected already banging on the door. It could be stupid from his side to do something like that, but the scene of Nino getting almost killed by one of those freaks made his blood run cold.

Kakashi knew he has to move quickly. His heart started beating faster. He leaned over the window and shot three times.

*WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO!*

The sound of a car's alarm was overbearing on the quiet street. Each of the three bullets was placed in a different car, breaking their windows.

Kakashi quickly made his way down to the window he got through inside the building. From there he saw that his improvised plan worked, most of the zombies went towards the raging car alarms.

*BAM!*

The old door finally gave in under the pressure from the infected. Thankfully, the staircase was so narrow that only one person could fit at once. Taking advantage of it, Kakashi prepared for the first opponent.

The infected woman charged at him as soon as she saw him. Kakashi didn't shoot her, he sharply draw his knife and after ducking under the infected's attack, he stabbed her right in the eye, damaging the brain. The infected's body instantly went limp, like a puppet with cut-off strings. Before her body could fall, Kakashi sent a powerful kick at her chest, sending her back to the stairs at the incoming Zs.

With that, he bought himself a few precious seconds. He jumped outside the window without a second thought and rushed to the right side of the wall. He couldn't use the gate as even more Zs were blocking it, because the ones from the inside of the school perimeter started heading outside toward the noise.

Kakashi ran with all his might. The bag on his back made it hard to maneuver between the walkers, so he had to shoot a few of them in the run.

'Come on! Where it is?!' Between his dodges and shots, Kakashi scanned the wall to find the right place to climb over. 'There!'

"Graaah!" The growl came from his right side.

He dodged a swing from the walker and swiped it off of its legs, he then killed it with a strong stomp on the head. With a quick look around, he noticed that they were closing on him. It seemed that the gunshots lured them from inside and between the buildings.

Headshotting another one, Kakashi hastily took his bag and using the short break from the fight, threw it over the wall.

"Raaaarh!!!"

*PAK!*

The part of the head of the incoming walker exploded under the power of a 7.62mm cartridge. Kakashi managed to kill 8 more freaks before the clicking sound came after pulling the trigger. The magazine was empty!

"Fuck!" Kakashi swore in annoyance but didn't reload, he didn't have time to!

He took a few steps from the wall and run towards it only to jump aiming his foot into one of the holes. When the part of his foot went inside, he pushed upwards with all the strength he had in his legs. Grabbing the edge of the wall, he pulled himself up and leaped over it, landing on the other side.

Resting his back on the cold wall, Kakashi breathed out in relief after he made sure that the area is clear. He could hear them scratching their fingers on the other side. Half a minute passed, in the meantime, he reloaded his AK and drink some water from the bag.

"Haah... Three magazines left, which means 60 bullets. Should be enough." Kakashi stood up on his legs and put the bag on his back. "Just wait a little longer..."
