Chap 6

Present day

Isabella's pov

Screams were surrounding us as I focused on stalking my prey. Years of endless bullying I didn't care if I would be punished at this point.

"Bella!" I hear alpha Henry yell as I closed in on my prey.

But something else caught my attention.

A smell.

A wonderful smell.

It was woodsy and very masculine. I turned in the direction of what I was smelling and begin a new hunt. I could feel everyone's eyes as I retreated back to the woods. The smell getting stronger.

His back was turned and I was quiet watching as he sat with his feet in the stream.

"I know you're watching me." He calls out not turning around. I huffed in frustration.

"I've been waiting almost 2 years now for you and your wolf." He says turning around… I stopped dead in my tracks.

"CAMERON!" I growled as my body and mind fought. I was happy to have found my mate but the past zoomed through my mind….

Before he could approach me I was taking off deeper into the woods. Tears brimmed my eyes as I pushed myself deeper into the woods. I came to a stop as I was now calm enough to to process my emotions.

I could hear them calling out for me.

"Bella! Let's talk!"

"Bella!" I heard it get closer and closer and my only way out was up. So I climbed the tree and watched.

"Her scent is strong in this area." I hear Cameron say to the few he brought with him.

"Maybe we should leave." Tyler says. Cameron and Tyler were next in line to take over the pack. However Cameron could not unless he had a Luna by his side. And the dread set in.

"Isabella, we need to talk." He calls out walking the trees. I tried to shift my weight but I slipped. I screamed as I fell out the tree waiting for impact. But warm arms were surrounding me instead.

"I've got you." He says. My eyes we're still closed but I breathed a sigh of relief.

"You can put me down now." I spoke calmly. I froze as his nose trailed my jawline back to my neck.

"I could take you right here mate." He spoke calmly sending chills down my spine.

"Or you could put me down." I huffed. He scuffed and begin to walk. He stopped abruptly putting me on my feet but caging me in between his arms, pinning my back to the tree. His head dipped down to my neck and he took a deep breath.

"You smell more amazing then ever." He says tucking my hair behind my ear.

See Cameron wasn't the average alpha kid. He was about 3 years older then me, so we only really saw each other in the pack house. Which was rare because alpha Henry and Luna Sarah kept me busy with chores. Even though I had matured and got my wolf very early on in life, I never sensed my mate.

But why now?

I pushed him away from me now angry. The teasing, the bullying and lies made me see red. I had to a

calm down.

Sensing my distress he placed a gentle hand on my shoulder

"You should sit down.I know it's a lot to take in." Kori was purring at the fact that our mate was touching us. I nodded letting him guide me to a stump.

I sat down and the whole room started to spin…

"Easy." He says leaning forward to catch me. "I thought you be happy."

"Happy?" I repeated in disbelief. "How can you say that? How can you be so gentle after all this time?! Where were you when I needed to be protected?!" I pushed his hand away and stood up. "All these years Cameron!" I whispered.

"I know and I'm so sorry."

I stomped my foot like a five year old. Frustrated was an understatement.

"Sorry?!" I repeated "years Cameron. I've given this pack years of being their personal punching bag. I've been spit on,lied to, lied about and you've watched from a distance. And all you can say is sorry?" I whispered.

He stood up and took a step towards me.

"Don't." I said taking a step back. "You don't get to stand there and beg for my forgiveness."

Kori whined. She wanted out mate to take us, but my human side wouldn't stand for this.

Not now.

Ever.

"Bella…" I stepped back again trying to put distance so I could calm down.

"Only friends and family are allowed to call me that." I said through gritted teeth.

"Isabella… please." He says tears on the verge of spilling over.

"Cameron…I'm sorry." I say before turning around and running away.
