Liu Xiaolan followed the blood trail, trying to go as quietly as possible.
Thinking that the blood trail belongs to an injured animal, she decided to try to find it and observe from some distance quietly, in case if the animal that injured it was still nearby.
Eating meat after days of eating raw mushrooms and now rice would be great, but it's not worth losing your life over it.
Soon, she noticed the trail going to an area with bushes.
Liu Xiaolan looked back and forth, trying to see any danger nearby. "Ah… Alright, I'll just take a quick look."
She slowly moved forward going along the trail. Once she was at the edge of the bushes, her face palled and she almost fell backwards.
On the ground she found a handsome looking man dressed in dark clothes full of blood.
Truth to be told, she was really scared. After all, not many people in ancient times had to deal with these types of situations, and even less people in modern times had the opportunity to see a body, looking dead, full of blood.
However, after a moment, her instinct kicked back in and she slowly regained her composure.
Liu Xiaolan quickly kneeled down next to him and checked if it's a dead body. Feeling that it's not cold, she looked if he's breathing.
Upon feeling Mu Yuchen's breath on her hand, she looked for any fatal damage. After looking around his body for a moment, she noticed that his condition is not as bad as she thought. It looks really bruised and perhaps has some internal injuries, but it doesn't have many bleeding spots, and if they are any, they look pretty shallow.
With a pretty complex look on her face, Liu Xiaolan slowly tried picking his body up. Unfortunately, he was a little too heavy for her. With no other choice, she could only take him and her sack away by dragging them on the ground towards her house.
Even if she didn't know him, Liu Xiaolan felt like she couldn't just leave him here.
Although he could be a dangerous person, considering the condition she found him in, but on the other hand, he could be a good human that was just unlucky. The things she learned and the way she lived in modern days was still deeply implemented in her mind.
She would just feel guilty if she left him here, constantly asking herself what if…
However, bringing Mu Yuchen to her own house truly wasn't easy. Even if she just dragged him to her home, it still took her a lot of effort. Aside from the fact that Mu Yuchen is a well built male with a good weight, avoiding hurting him also took quite an effort.
With all the stones, branches and other stuff on the ground, it wasn't easy for her to safely move him on the ground.
"Finally home…" Liu Xiaolan was breathing heavily, barely moving.
Looking at Mu Yuchen, Liu Xiaolan thought deeply and made a small decision.
She picked her pot, barely managing to hold it. While modern day pots are pretty small and their weight is not too big, here she only managed to get one done from heavy iron. She took it to the river and soon came back to her house with a pot full of water.
"Apologies, handsome guy…" Liu Xiaolan muttered as she took down his robes before cleaning his body and wounds with some water.
She did think about heating the water up before using it to clean his wounds, but she didn't have any firewood to be used, and after moving him for so long she almost didn't feel her hands anymore.
Going outside to look for something to start a fire and keep it going? No chance right now.
After she was done getting rid of the dry blood, she moved his body to her bed and covered him with her blanket, hoping he would get better once he sleeps for some time.
Normally, she would go and look for a doctor right now, but there are none in the village. And even if there was one, it would be hard to explain where she found an injured man. Even more so when she didn't know why he was injured.
Outside, it was already slowly becoming dark. It took her a long time to get back home and she couldn't go back to the mountains even if she wanted.
At the same time, she couldn't sell the mushrooms she picked today. At least she found Mu Yuchen shortly after moving deeper inside the mountains, before picking too much of them. With how how it was right now and no good way to preserve them, the only thing she could do with them was to eat them tomorrow morning. Otherwise, they would probably go bad.
She looked at him for a moment before taking some new clothes and going to the river for a quick wash.
Once she was back, she picked up the straw from the corner of the house and tried to make it into a place to sleep. She picked up another blanket and lied down muttering, "Great, Liu Xiaolan. Not only did you help a random man and took him home, now he's even taking away your own bed…"
Liu Xiaolan moved her body a little and lied on her side, looking at Mu Yuchen sleeping on her bed. "Well, I guess at least he looks a little handsome. If he was living in modern times, he could even become a popular star if he wanted just by the value of his face…"
Thinking about it, Liu Xiaolan was slowly feeling drowsy and she soon fell asleep. What she didn't know through, was the fact that when Mu Yuchen heard her even breath, he opened his eyes and looked towards her.
The look in his eyes was both confused and complicated at the same time. However, after a few more moments of observing her, he simply closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
Alright, I'm going to sleep for now.
I'll upload another chapter once I'm awake.
