Life With Cats

Life With Cats is a novel I've worked on for about a year now. It's a warm hearted story about a woman who dies of old age surrounded by the cats she loves with all her heart. She longs to continue living with them, forever. Thankfully and unknowingly the God of Laziness cared for her life enough to grant her another chance. She decides to continue her Life With Cats. Updates coming soon!

It's Okay

"I heard about you from Rodrick, I pass by sometimes to have him look at my weapons. He doesn't specialize in weapons but he's got a good eye. He takes a look to make sure it's not going to break on me suddenly while I'm out and about. I'm an adventurer by the way, names Bran. I usually do small jobs around here, I'm not super strong but I'm not super weak either. Bout level D, I guess. Adventurers have different levels and all, I ain't up there very far. Higher than E or F, but not a level A, you know. He told me about a young girl who came in, looked like she was from a rich family, had some magical tools. Two of 'em, he said. Offered her a ride to the Capital. I asked him, oh a young miss? Brown hair? He said yep." He seemed like he could go on forever, it was kind of calming.

"He told me about how he was worried she'd end up attracting the wrong type of people. The criminal kind, you walk around without a single escort, and people notice. I don't know how a young miss like you doesn't have at least one person lookin' out for you. It must be scary sometimes." He's right, I hadn't thought of it because I felt fulfilled with my cats, but being alone here… maybe I need to be around people. Maybe leaving to go to the Capital is a bad idea, should I stay here?

"Do you think I shouldn't go to the Capital?" I wanted his input on it. He's been thinking about my safety, more than I have, probably. All I thought about was money and shelter.

"No, I think you should. But I just wanted you to know that we're out here. We're willing to help you when you need it. You're just a young one', so us older folk should help out when we can." He smiles and messes my hair up playfully. Ahh, I just brushed it earlier. Hearing what he said, really helped me calm down though. He's right. It's okay to rely on others, I've started to accept relying on my cats but also other people. They can also be relied on. I've met some very nice people these past few days here, and I feel thankful.

"Thank you, Bran." I shuffle my feet in the dirt, embarrassed again.

"It's okay." He simply replies. We had been talking for just a bit, though it felt very fulfilling. We had arrived at the Tailor Shop a moment ago but I hadn't entered yet.

"I should go inside, thank you for walking with me, Bran." I watch him wave goodbye and walk back the way we came. I guess he had something to do at the Adventurer's Hall.

"He's a good man." Mystic commented, rubbing up against my leg.

"Yeah, thank you for supporting me earlier. I appreciate it." I give each one of the cats a couple head pats. Velvet purrs loudly, nuzzling against my hand. She seems to be a bit tired, well after we leave the Tailor Shop, we have one last thing to do but then we'll get home.

Inside the Tailor Shop, there's a young boy on the teller. He looks up at me and welcomes me to the shop, saying something about how they're not currently open though. I hand him the note from Areth and he nods his head rapidly, seemingly happy at my arrival. He lets me know that he'd been over his head with all the different notes and couldn't make sense of it. So I sit there with him, going over the different notes for an hour or two.

Meanwhile, Team Break had continued to scout out the forest. Silk and Frankie were both taking the far left, and the other two were taking the far right. They'd meet up in the middle to update each other with any findings. So far, there were just a few Rambits, not many. Frankie had gotten one kill, and Snake was getting the most out of the four. He was in his element for sure.

"Be careful up ahead, this is around the area where the big guy was supposedly at." Shiver made sure to remind Snake multiple times, just in case. Snake was just too excited at the prospect of being able to massacre anything in his path. It was a bit intense. She's so glad that she got paired with him, cause if it was Silk, he'd probably just go along with the madness. Shiver shakes her head in amazement. She had only been able to subdue one Rambit so far. The Rambits seem to be one of the more common monsters in this forest. The others ones they've ran into were some with green skin. Those were a bit more tough, but easily defeated if both of them worked together. Shiver and Snake managed to take down two of them so far, but afterwards needed a breather.

"No need to tell me again, what is that the fifth time you've reminded me? Don't worrrrrry about it, I got it mom." Snake marks another tree with his claws. He decided to do that to every tree so that he could remember where he had already been, but Shiver is sure he's just trying to scare people.

"Okay, Snake." Shiver watches around the forest area carefully, spotting something far away.

"Aye, what's that?" Snake notices it too, running towards it quickly. Shiver's jaw drops, unable to move forward.

"SNAKE! Get back right now!" Shiver tries to catch up with Snake, yelling as she runs. When she catches up to Snake, he's looking up in shock. They hadn't ever seen this type of monster until now, it's a large black snake, the size of the trees. It looks down at them both with it's large eyes, slithering it's tongue around, hissing.

"Uhhh, I think.. We might be in trouble." Snake gulps, looking over at Shiver who is trembling.

"RUN!" Shiver yells, they both run as fast as possible. Hoping to meet up with the other team in the middle, they head in the direction as quickly as possible. Behind them, they can hear the snake following.
