Chapter 18

I glanced around the school noticing a few cars were still there so I held a neutral expression as I walked towards the bus stop. I waited as he spoke, "There a new job for you, the details are here." He dropped the flash drive on the ground and I nod dropping my phone before reaching down to pick up both. I glanced at Marcus with a neutral expression, and he sighed saying, "I'll walk you home."

I shook my head, "No, people will get suspicious of it, but I need your help with something." He looked at the road nodding, and I asked, "I want to take self-defense classes, find me a decent gym without thugs." He glanced at me asking, "Why not just use the one we have?"

I scoffed asking, "You think I would be safe with a bunch of felons?" He smirked saying, "I would be more worried about them." I glanced at him then the bus as he said, "I'll find one by Friday." I nod before getting up and on the bus as he followed behind be but got off a few stops later and I took the bus home.

I went over the documents he gave me, it similar to the other job but this time she wanted a message to go across. I sighed, looking at the person's information "James Lanes, a truck driver age 47."

I sighed looking at the medical records then at the family report, he was divorced with two kids 17 and 19 years old. His wife was a teacher in Florida and his kids were also living with her, so they probably didn't want to have any connections to their father. I looked at the other page and why they would want an example to be made of him. "Drug trafficking in our tuff," I noticed that was the last thing on document. I sighed placing it away as I turned to my school project.

I finished it within a few hours and sent it over to the boy so he could do the rest of it. It was around 6 when I got up and went to get the children who would be dropped off near the apartment. I smiled as I picked up their bags and carried Ava as the two boys walked.

"So, how was your day?" I asked in a gentle tone and Leo held a neutral expression while Ace smiled saying, "Fun, I wanna go every day." I nodded as asking, "Leo what did you think?" He smiled saying, "It was enjoyable, and I got to finish my homework too."

I helped the children change before giving them my phone while I cooked dinner. I made their lunch and then served them as they came running to eat. Mom walked out from her room around 7 and had dinner before she left for work. Then we spent the rest of the night reading books before I placed them in bed.

The week went by in a blur as I waited for my target to return to Memphis. He had a load that should be dropped off at a warehouse near the river and I took up a shift on Friday so that I could take Sunday off and take care of him that day.
