Chapter 29

Yoshi was writing on his book while remembering the events that happened to him on the day.

"So the first one is, I didn't go to school because I woke up late and blah, blah, blah. But it's not my fault I woke up late, it's the dream's fault. Second, the fight at the Dango shop. I have suspicion on who they were, but without proof, I can't be so sure. Judging by their speed on attacking and of course the kunai itself, means they were trained. No ordinary villagers are allowed to carry a weapon unless they are on disguise. Looking back, I remember there's some people that seems suspicious. I fought two people and while I fought, I saw a person stood at the entrance while watching me. Was his job to stop me if I decided to run away? He let me through after I finished fighting though.

Bleh, whatever. But I wonder, what does whoever sent them wants from me? Sending men to fight a kid? A eight year old kid at that. I'm an orphan, at least in this world, and a nobody." as Yoshi rambling to himself, suddenly there was a knocked on his door.

The sudden knocked stopped Yoshi on whatever he was doing, and looked at his alarm clock beside his bed. It was 8:45 p.m. Still not late in the night, so Yoshi doesn't suspect anything.

'Maybe it's Kakashi or Iruka. Jeez, I should put up a sign to not border me at night.'

While Yoshi was walking out of his room to answer the door while grabbing the key on the way, at the other side of the door was a unknown man in black moved swiftly away from the door to the one of the house's window without being seen which was the kitchen's window.

Back to Yoshi, he's already in front of the door and about to open it when he felt the chilled of someone watching him from the back, but he quickly dismissed it and open the door to see whose the visitor was, but sadly he didn't saw Iruka or Kakashi faces, instead he saw nothing. The cold wind blew on his face made him shuddered a bit, he then checking around the outside of his house to make sure nobody was there before he went back inside.

Fate or coincidence, no one knew, because after Yoshi closed the door of his house, his key suddenly slipped out of his hand to the floor made him knelt down to retrieve it back. But while that happened, he doesn't notice a slash coming straight to his neck that was of course missed because he knelt down. The wind that the slash made cause Yoshi to finally noticed that he was not alone in his house.

He then quickly rose up and turned around to face his enemy. Unfortunately, the said enemy's face was covered so Yoshi can't recognize who was it. All he can deduced was that the person was a man based in his height and body shape.

When Yoshi was busy figuring out who was behind the cover, the man suddenly ran towards Yoshi and attempted another slash towards his neck. Yoshi with his fast reflexes, knelt down on time and started made his way away from the man. Since the living room was not big and had furnishes made the space more smaller than it suppose to, Yoshi couldn't ran away and distanced himself from the man very far.

The man now back facing the door, looked at Yoshi for a second before he dived for the next attack. Taken another kunai from his back, the man tried to stab one into Yoshi's stomach while the other was on his face. But luckily for Yoshi, he was fast enough to hold the man's hands causing both of his attack unsuccessful. But since Yoshi was young and that meant smaller, he doesn't have so much strength to hold on them for a long time. The man who was probably three times larger and stronger than him started to realized this and put a little bit more of his strength and tried to stab Yoshi with the kunai knives. Yoshi on desperate moment doesn't have any choice but to do one thing that all the kid in the world probably did, and that was kicked at the private part of the man, and so he did. But then the man realized what Yoshi about to do, so he let go one of his kunai to grab Yoshi's leg and threw him around, luckily he landed on the sofa, so no harm was done yet.

Without wasting any time, Yoshi got up from his position and started running towards his bedroom where all his weapons were. The man with a fast footwork, ran towards Yoshi with a kunai ready in hand. Arrived at his bedroom which was not that far from the living room, he hurriedly took two kunai which were on his table and fend off a strike from the enemy. Many strikes were thrown at him, but he dodged all of them and stay on defenses as long as he can.

After about 5 minutes doing the same thing over and over again, Yoshi finally made his first attack to the unknown man. He dug down from a slash and ran towards the man as fast as he can then attempted a slash at his face. The slash left him a little scratch on his cheek. Without wasting any time, Yoshi stepped back a little and took his stance and did a tornado round house kick, but to no avail, he was not fast enough as the enemy caught his leg and throw a punch at his face. Yoshi dodged the punch but his leg was still in the enemy hand so he did the wise thing that would free his leg and also hit the enemy on the face. He used his other leg to roundhouse kicked the man and it worked. The enemy was caught off guard that Yoshi would ever pulled such a stunt, and so he did not expected that. Because of that, Yoshi's attack hit the man right on the side of the head, caused the man to feel dizzy for awhile. Since they were in Yoshi's bedroom, he took this chance to jump onto his bed, straight to the man and locked the man's neck with his hands. The man was using all his might to let free from the suffocation but so do Yoshi who used all his strength to choked him till he unconscious, not dead.

The plan to make him unconscious gone astray as suddenly Yoshi's back being grabbed by the man, and as a child he had no way to fight that, so he got thrown out of the window of the bedroom. On the outside, the night was gotten dark, but Yoshi still could see his enemy jumping from the window, meant to crush Yoshi with his legs, but luckily, reflexes kicked in and he rolled to the side and got up to prepare for the next attack. But the attack didn't come, instead they were looking at each other, or more like the man was looking at Yoshi up and down like he was analyzing him.

At this point, Yoshi was beyond tired 'cause he already used all his strength on the last attack, not to mention that his stamina was not so good since he was still a child and the blood from the injury on his head added the pain and tiredness to come over him and made his head felt dizzy like he was about to pass out. But he won't, not now, not in front of the enemy that he knew nothing about.

"Who are you?" Yoshi asked in tiredness.

"Are you really that rumored soul? Not that impressive to me." said the unknown man with his deep voice.

'Soul? What soul?'

"I'm sorry but you don't supposed to be here. So, die."

As soon as the man said that, he ran towards Yoshi with a kunai knife in hand, ready to stab him, but out of the blue, came someone who stood in front of Yoshi and gave the man a kick. The man avoided it and stepped back to keep the distance between him and the newcomer.

"You shouldn't hit a kid, you know. Especially an innocent one."

The man gritted his teeth in frustration because there's another obstacle that he need to go through to get to Yoshi, while Yoshi who was behind the newcomer, stared at the person who was identified as a man and his white hair cannot be missed as Yoshi confirmed that it was Kakashi.

Back to the unknown man, he was about to attack but stopped on his tracks when 4 other people started to come out from nowhere. He clicked his tongue and made a decision to run away for now, and so he did.

'Tch. If not because of the restriction, I would already kill them all.'

As the man ran away, the Anbu went after him but one of the Anbu, code named Tenzo, was being stopped by Kakashi from following the pursued, instead ordered him to report the event to the Hokage. Tenzo nodded his head and went on his way, leaving only Kakashi and Yoshi.

"Your head is bleeding, let me take you to the hospital." Kakashi said while looking at Yoshi.

"You're late."

"Ah, about that, we're sorry. You see, we got something to do earlier."

Lies. Yoshi knew they knew about the attack even before it happened, but the reason they didn't take any action was because they need to observe the situation first before making any decision whether to jumped into the fight or not. From the Anbu's and Kakashi's perspectives, they must thought that Yoshi could handle the fight and decided to come out at the last minute which was when Yoshi was tired and possibly couldn't protect himself anymore. The reason must seemed nonsense to Yoshi because a sane person would've help a kid who was in danger, but to them, the reason was clear. Observed first, than fight if necessary.

"Anyway, don't worry about the injury, it's just a scratch. I will clean it myself." Yoshi said to Kakashi while walking towards his apartment.

Kakashi just nodded his head and watched Yoshi from afar until he safely made it into his house, then he waited for a few minutes to made sure that nothing dangerous would happened again. After that, he made a decision to go back to his night patrol job even though he doesn't supposed to have one that night.

(next day)

*Rinnngggg* *rinnnggggg*

The sound of the alarm clock gone off as a boy woke up from his slumber and turned off the clock gently. Yoshi got out of his bed and made his way to the bathroom. He washed his face, brushed his teeth, and took a nice cold shower before set himself in front of the bathroom mirror.

His focus was on his head which where the supposed injury was, but as he searched all around it, he can't find any. Only what was left of it, the scar. Though it was no shocked to him that the fact his injury healed, he still couldn't got used to it. Calling himself a mortal with self-healing power was the last thing he ever wanted on his list. After checking himself on the mirror a couple of times, he went out of the bathroom to his closet and picked some clothes for him to wear for the day.

It's 7:15 o'clock in the morning, the academy start at 8, so Yoshi got about 45 minutes for himself to do whatever he was supposed to do. The usual clothes wear was on, he then went to the kitchen and made himself a toast and a nice cup of coffee to help him got through the day. Yoshi was tired and sleepy this morning because last night he couldn't sleep peacefully after knowing that someone out there was trying to kill him. He became more aware of his surroundings and always thinking of the worst scenario possible that might happened to him if he's not being careful.

After he ate and put away the dishes, he went back to his bedroom and grabbed a roll of bandages in his drawer then wrapped it up around his neck to hide the scars. He didn't put on any bandages on his hands because he wore a long sleeve shirt, that's enough could hide them all. Next, he grabbed his school bag and put on his shoes before opening his front door to find a yellow haired boy on his doorstep.

"Yoshi! I woke up early just for today! Let's go to the academy together!" Naruto said with a loud voice that almost startled Yoshi.

"Don't need to shout, Naruto. You'll wake up the neighbor." Yoshi said while rubbing his ears to ease the pain from the shout earlier.

Yoshi closed and locked the door and walked to the academy alongside Naruto. Nothing interesting happened while they're walking, but they did bumped into Shikamaru and Chōji who were just coming out of a store. Short greetings were exchanged between them and Shikamaru decided to walk along with Naruto and Yoshi while Chōji just followed.

Few minutes later, they arrived at their destination which was the academy then went straight to their classroom.
