Songs of Marching Fire. (Part 7)

Teardrops stop at my cheeks. The soft purple candles glow. And warmness that engulfs as time passes by.

Yuwei looks at me with a worried face asking, "Sova are you okay now?"

I wipe my face saying, "Yea, I think I am."

I stand with my heavy legs. My arms feel limp. Yet my heart feels clear and refresh. I look at Moriz folding his arms with his eyes glued to me and Saya still sleeping in the bed.

I bow down saying, "I'm sorry everyone. I wasted all your time beca-"

Yuwei pets my head saying, "It's okay Sova. You've been through a lot these past few days. A cry or two is fine."

I raise my head saying, "But it's going to be night soon because of me..."

Moriz holds my shoulder saying, "Don't sweat it, brother. Sure we may lose some time but I'm not gonna let some night time ruin my day. Now come on, carry Sarah and tell me what to do," he takes out a small white napkin with a cute jade snake sewn inside, "Here wipe your face while you're at it."

I take it, shaking my head and wipe my face with his napkin. I tried to give a bright smile saying, "Thank you."

Moriz suddenly blushes, scratching his cheeks as his gaze stray saying, "Yea, you're welcome," taking back the napkin he continues saying, "See Yuwei, there are still people that believe in my pure will to help."

"Good for you I guess. You're just lucky he doesn't know your reputation."

"Is it that bad?" I ask in worry.

Yuwei looks at me as she ponders saying, "You said you don't to be left in the dark anymore right?"

I nod saying, "Yea."

I see Yuwei stand and walk infront of me. I look at Saya's leg to see her bruise is gone... Yuwei folds her arm saying, "I healed her as you bawl. Don't worry about it. I'll tell you about him when we get back home."

"Oh, okay then," I place her on my back with Yuwei's help and carry her.

Moriz opens the door saying, "Hey if you don't mind I can tell you about myself with a nonbias view you know," and went out first.

I went out asking, "Really?" and go on deeper ahead with Moriz as the vanguard.

Yuwei clicks her tongue saying, "Don't believe it Sova, he may be HONEST but he plays with words to favor him so just don't."

"Oh okay then..." I answer back.

Moriz looks back with a half smile saying, "I'm hurt that you think so I can assure you that I make no such inequality but only the best fair-"

Yuwei looks at him with a disappointed face before Moriz cough looking embarrassed saying, "You're right, I promise."

Not knowing why I... I don't need to know. Next stop, Sis Rubeca's room... I've only been inside her room once, to be honest. And it's located in the deepest part inside.

Dust piled up as we walk. The cracks begin to worsen, the air damps as time pass. The purple kindling flicker as if something is suppressing them.

Moriz holds his chin saying, "Now I'm getting curious."

"Why?" I ask.

"Simply because of her title, which you should know don't you?"

As I remember what that old man Fyorga says in the interrogation, "Tyrant Gardener? Where did she even get that from?"

"I thought you should know it since you're her lil bro. Didn't she tell you anything?"

I shake my head saying, "no."

Moriz answer, "Simply because she is good at weeding out weak individuals and harnessing the strong. She shows no mercy in her choice and in one case, they say that she actually almost kill a royalty during training for disobeying her order and beating up both the students and his parents when they are secretly spoiling him during training. She is just like a very sadistic trainer with that strict tendency."

I gulp saying, "I can't argue with you there but I don't think she is that bad. Well, I think Rana says that she is a Military Police back in the empire I wonder if that's where it's from."

"Huh, she is!? A Military Police becoming a hunter? That's new and that's not even written too. Yes, that makes quite a lot of sense now. To be honest her background is really mysterious and the oldest record of her here is during her hunter exams."

Yuwei glares at Moriz saying, "Moriz I hope you don't stray too far. She is under my jurisdiction. Anymore than that I would really have to silence you according to my agreement. I'm only letting you see this here because I need your help right now."

"Whoa, Yuwei please don't say that. I get excited about those words, so please forgive me. Even after we fought side by side during the rebellion, you're still keeping info from me huh. Well, I guess that's fine since it's you, I'll hold back."

"Wait, you two fought in the war!?" I ask in surprise.

Yuwei scramble for words as she says, "Shush! W-well it's not like I fought with my family name but- Aaah! It's complicated. I hate you Moriz," she glares at me next saying, "Sova please don't talk about your families past with strangers okay? Especially with that guy. No offense."

Moriz replies quickly saying, "I understand."

Confused I nod saying, "Okay, I'm sorry."

Yuwei face got worried saying, "Hey cheer up... I know, let me teach you the song our ancestors use within our armies."

I tilt my head to the side saying, "Huh? Your family has a song?"

Moriz ask, "You have an anthem? Wow! As expected from the main family. Hey, tell me too!" Moriz says sounding excited.

Yuwei cough out looking at Moriz asking, "You're actually interested in this kind of things?"

Moriz smiles gently saying, "Of course, how do you think Titania and me get along so well. We love hearing songs of each sec and learn a thing or two from each of them."

"Wait, don't tell me that most of the school laws and reforms are from you two learning those things?"

"Some yes, but mostly for me to get along with her. And to help her out in her gonna be position when we finally graduated. Though most of each sector's history is pretty public except for the almighty thirteen. You can guess who don't you?"

Yuwei breaths out saying, "Of course. But I suggest you leave her alone after that, you don't need me to tell you where she stands right?"

"Sure, sure~," he says sarcastically as he stares the darkness above.

Yuwei continues saying, "And just so you know it's their choice to read my anthem in the Central's Library you know. If you can go to our school, transportation are provided for free now thanks to your reform... I never restrain our ancestor's glory. You two never even bothered to ask me where to find one back in school or have you ever check there?"

Moriz sigh saying, "If only you can look in the mirror when you're at school Yuwei. I'm pretty sure nobody dares come close to you without a good reason. Especially with your background."

"What was that suppose to mean huh?" Yuwei glares at Moriz back.

I interrupt saying, "So will you sing it now sis?"

Yuwei smiles and pets me saying, "Of course, of course, are you interested in this too Sova?"

I smiled saying, "Yea! From each hero's saga, they would always sing a song or myths of legend. And learning a thing or two from your private libraries with... May, makes me interested more about your family too."

Yuwei hugs me from the back enveloping Saya in the process saying, "Aw, that makes me happy. If you always want to know about our families heroes why didn't you say so in the first place? I'll tell you everything when we arrive home."

Almost toppling over, I regain footing saying, "Well... I only got interested in heroes like a year back before training so I really don't know much of the new, local and unsung heroes yet. Only the very popular ones... I mean I was planning to visit you after I become a hunter and hope you're home but I guess I become a Martial artist instead," I look at my new weapon, maybe I shouldn't boast to Rana about that huh?

Moriz leans closer to us saying, "Well aren't you a lucky guy, like seriously. But, mind telling some of those to me too Yuwei?"

She hymns happily saying, "I guess, I could say the anthem to you at least. Listen well Sova, this is the song that is sung during the world invasion back then to inspire our troops to fight the foreign invaders."

She hymns a tune while the purple kindling begins to shine brighter and stop flickering as it starts to dance and produce small balls of light. Making a beat of drums as we march forth in the dark hallway.

"Oh, mighty phoenix,

The kindling starts to take shape and form to become small birds and lands on our shoulders.

Moriz was baffled and so was I. Can songs really do that much?

Yuwei lets go of me and ask, "So did that cheer you up? Cause it sure did to me."

I nodded saying, "Yea, I feel energized for some reason."

Moriz cracks his neck saying, "That was the real deal. I heard that if you sing the song right, the spirits will bless you and empower you in your journey... Sadly most of the royal family lost their songs incantations. This is probably one of the techniques use by Emperor Rucina himself."

I nod along saying, "Oh that's news to me. But yea, I feel energized too."

Yuwei nods, smiling as she says, "Good, cause we will need that in this quick trip if we encounter any," she looks infront saying, "Touch some wood, hopefully not."

I look infront to see a wooden door at the end of this hallway. I gulped when Moriz walks and opens the door as it creaks. Dust comes out in waves as if the room hasn't been open for years.

"Ha-haa-ha chooo!" Moriz sneeze as his voice starts to echo through. He sniffs rubbing his nose saying, "Excuse me," going inside first.

I walk inside as the birds stick to our shoulder. The room is how do I describe it... Flowery and frilly? And it looks weird with only the purple light. The walls have pink planks with cute dolls wearing different clothing. Sitting down in rows. A wooden shelf in the corner, a frilly pink bed with sewn dolls sitting on it. A sewing table on the side with baskets of yarn and a sewing needle stab on one of them.

When I look beside me, I see mannequins in poses wearing a different frilly dress with a flower pattern, and some wear a luxurious dress, with more wooden shelves beside filling the empty gaps. I flick the switch near the door when a window shines giving a morning feeling.

Yuwei looks at me with surprise asking, "Wha-what just happen?!"

Moriz looks at the window saying, "Ah, I can't sense any magic. An electronic, man you can't get this anywhere other than the empire or central."

I walk to her bed. Looking at the mountain of dolls, somehow one of them actually looks like Angie, that golden guy, May, and me... I remember my first time here...

Entering Sis Rubeca's room for the first time before my leave. Her long green hair sway covering my view when she flicks a switch near the door. Yellow lights shine giving a feeling of the morning sun.

As I arrive, I was baffled by the inside filled with dolls, yarns, and dresses. Not what I think of sis. While I was busy looking around.

Sis looks at me asking, "What's wrong?"

"I never knew you had a hobby like this sis. Did May come to your room before too?"

"Yes, a couple of times actually. I started sewing since I was a kid."

"Eh, Really?"

She pets me saying, "Come on now, follow me."

Sis Rubeca continues to walk to one of her many wooden shelves. Opening it to take out a doll.

"Sova, you should have this in your new room. I finish this one recently."

Rubeca hands me a sewn doll that looks like me. Complete with brown eyes, blonde hair and me wearing my green distributed clothes. It looks really nice with its eyes made of buttons and a smiling mouth made out of pink wool.

Surprised I asked, "Eh, Really!?"

"Yes, Take it as an opening present so you don't become too lonely in your new home."

"T-thank you so much, sis!" I take the doll from her hands. Hugging it I felt the soft and smooth texture, wondering. Where should I put this?

She scratches her cheeks asking, "Do you like it? I'm sorry if I didn't give you anything the boys like these days."

I shake my head saying, "It's okay sis, you made this with your own hands and passion. I love it!"

She folds her arms saying, "I see," looking away from me she asks, "You probably think this hobby doesn't suit me at all no?"

I decided to be honest and say, "Yea... B-but if you love it so much I won't say anything! In fact, you should ask me to help sometimes."

Her lips curls up, she pets my head as she asks, "Sova?"

"Yes?"

"When you become strong and learn to be independent one day. I want you to check the box under my bed."

"Huh? Why?"

"It will help you in your journey forward. My time in this room is dwindling as time passes by the day."

I nod saying, "Mhmm, I don't really understand but I'll remember that."

She ruffled my hair more when I ask, "Now then, I'm going to prepare my stuff too okay?"

"Let me help you out Sova, while May is working with Yuwei she will probably come home late. Let's prepare some dinner while we're at it."

I nod saying, "Thank you, sis."

I smile thinking, I ended putting up the doll in my bed... Until May decided to kidnap it and put it in her room instead. The last time I see it was beside a doll that looks like her. Before long I frowned remembering that, that was the last time I saw her in her room.

Yuwei walks beside me saying, "I'll be honest Sova... I haven't gone to Rubeca's room. May warned me not to. But this... This is just mind-blowing," Yuwei's eye leer toward the dolls when her eyes shine and plunge her hand inside. Taking out a doll that looks like her in her garbs. She says, "T-this is me? It's so cute! And this is really good quality too. I never knew."

Moriz smiles nodding his head saying, "Yuwei~ you don't need me to tell you, to not judge a book by its cover right?" saying in a sarcastic manner.

She grabs her heart saying, "Ugh, to be told lessons by you is hurtful. S-so do you know where it is?" She put the doll back at the pile.

"Yea, I do."

I decided to lay Saya on the dusty bed and kneel down. I lift the blankets and look below the bed. I see a thick leather book above a silver box.

I decided to take the silver box. As I pull it out, the thick book accidentally fall and dust fly everywhere.

I cough repeatedly when my eye looks to the book. It was opened and I could see a single large detailed painting made of the same paper as the one aunt has, with multiple signatures around it, a number saying 2787 and a sentence that writes Glory to Team Erindel in Owlian.

It's a group of 5 people wearing the same fancy looking uniform, they stand on a place that looks like on top of a bridge with a very troubled face while they are all almost toppling over to the floor.

In the middle, one person with jet black hair highlighted with dark blue that covers his whole eyes making it hard to see his face and wonder how does he even look... Wait, Ezurus? The man in military uniform I met in the memories or dreams. Why is he there?

He pushes down two people from their shoulders making them in the middle of toppling over. One is a girl in her teens with her tidy green hair tied up like horsetail making a surprised face as she topples over, pulling another person as she fell, the one being pulled down by her is a brown haired girl that has her bangs comb to the side almost covering her eyes, with a cold glare as she looks at Sis. Is that... So Sis Rubeca, Ezurus and Coryn all knew each other?

The other person being push down by ezurus is a guy with gold blonde hair, he has a scar reaching from his right chin till it passes his nose. While the one that backs off from all of this is a girl with a large twin braided hair, wearing a large foggy glasses that covers her entire face, it makes you question if someone needs that big pair of glasses.

Is this Sis Rubeca's highschool life? Sis Yuwei gets beside me and looks at the painting.

She suddenly smiles saying, "No way! Is this Rubeca! She looks so lame," Yuwei grabs the book as she looks like a predator gazing down on its prey.

Moriz' eyes circle the room the moment he saw that and back off saying, "Well I can at least respect some privacy."

"Oh sure you do~" Yuwei reply sarcastically. She skims over the painting left and right.

Confuse I ask, "What's wrong Sis Yuwei, is there something wrong with that painting?"

Moriz suddenly snickers softly when Yuwei knees him in the side saying, "Cut that out."

Moriz kneels down holding his side saying, "Wh-why?"

She looks at me saying, "Sova don't you know the insignia on that box and the uniform they are wearing?"

Confused, I look at the box and see an insignia that look like it was carved on it. It looks like two blue diamonds on left and envelope by a black half-crown that look like the crescent moon, making it look like a mighty shield with thorns.

Not knowing I ask, "What is this?"

"That's the Aologi Empire's head of scientific research institute logo, basically the Ancient Grand Lunor Academy."

"Wha-whaaaat!?" This thing belongs to a place May always wants to go? Why didn't sis gave this to her instead?

"And this picture means that this five is the top group of students that were able to graduate in flying colours and-" flipping the pages as she skims over she says, "This is the Academy graduate photo album."

"Wuut!?" Moriz shouts in surprise.

Yuwei make a silent gesture saying, "Shush! I wonder if there something else I can see..."

Moriz scratches his head saying, "Well that's sad. To think she had such a bright future but choose to be a hunter instead in the end after becoming a Military Police. Sounds like she failed somewhere."

Yuwei flips the pages as she says, "I think you forgot that a civil war broke out 7 years before their graduation judging from the date. The war that would last for 14 years and a rebellion that will continue for 6 years after that. I'm more surprised that the empire is still standing after fighting for so long."

Moriz interjects saying, "Oh please, the world invasion last more than a century if there is one thing they can do its warfare."

Yuwei closes her eyes saying, "Of course the best job to have back then is in the military probably. Well, I never really know much since they isolated the whole continent and now after the rebellion ended and the democratic party rules the court. They have totally close all border and will not let anyone enter ever, not even diplomats..." she looks at me as she says that.

"First it was the powder and steel, then it was the rebellion's light. At least they still accept the runaway Owls that manage to escape their harsh lives."

"Yea," they nodded as they agree with each other.

Not knowing what to do, I look at the box and finally realize her words, "When you become strong and learn to be independent one day. I want you to check the box under my bed," I close my eyes and decided to put the box and put it back inside the bed.

Yuwei looks at me and asks, "What's wrong? Not going to open it?"

"No, she told me that I should open it when I become strong and independent but looking at myself recently I can't even survive on my own, I'm weak and I'm pretty much stranded if I never met you in that diner. So I think I should just leave this alone until I'm truly ready."

Yuwei smiles at me saying, "If that is your choice then I'll follow along."

"Thank you."

Moriz kneels down and walks beside me saying, "Hey why not just take that box and give it to Yuwei for now I dont think leaving it here is really that safe to be honest."

"I guess you're right. Let's get going to your home now Yuwei," I take the box and decided to give it to her.

Moriz makes a thingking gesture saying, "Still I'm impressed Yuwei. I heard rumours that your sector's crime rate is the lowest out of all. It must be nice to be able to hide things under your bed. Where has those time gone?"

Yuwei takes the box saying, "It's simple actually. Unlike most of you, I stationed all my Guardians for public order. And since I don't put heavy taxes, people could really move and motivate themselves and the economic problems in my sector starts to recover from that stinking corruptors after I lope their head off."

"That only work if you actually can isolate yourselve and have the name to do so. Can you imagine what would the other expensionist family do to my small sector if the Guardians are scattered everywhere like yours? I'll be dead in hours. Your economy, authority, and control are blooming but your diplomatic ties are rotting. Becareful Yuwei, my territory is small yet it's full of traitors and ursurpurs. Who knows how many or what lies with a territory as big as yours."

Yuwei faces the glowing window saying, "I'll keep that in mind."

Moriz smiles saying, "But hey, who am I to talk. You got your ways of doing things and I got mine. Besides I got a promise to keep too."

Yuwei sighs and looks at the box from all side asking, "Say, Sova this box is locked with an advance science technology lock and needs a key card or special needs to open, how do you even plan to open it up? Are you even sure this is the right box she told you about?

"Now that I think about it. I don't know. She just told me to open the box under the bed."

Yuwei sighs saying, "I guess I was able to keep this stuff safe for now. About your Aunt Palka's safe, that will need a special requirements to move. I think we will move all the items in the house in my treasury in probably two days time."

I look at Yuwei saying, "Thank you sis."

She pets me saying, "That's what families are for. Don't worry about it."

Moriz strecth out his hands saying, "*Yawn*, Finally we're done, can't wait to go home. It's going to be late when I got home to my sec," he slouch infront saying, "Haaah, Lilu will scold me again."

Yuwei puts the book on the bed and walks to the door saying, "No. This is not over until we or should I say Sova and me, arrive at my house so don't lose focus just yet maybe you could have dinner with us if you want to and thanks for that tip."

Moriz smiles saying, "Really? But no thanks, I have someone waiting at home for me so let's get this done," walking to the door as he went and Yuwei followed suit.

I look at Saya and look back at them saying, "Wait, help me out!"

Yuwei looks back saying, "Oh right."

Moriz smiles maliciously, "So who's losing focus now?"

Yuwei blushes as she helps saying, "Shut up, I'm still focused."

Yuwei help me carry Saya to my back. I decided to ask what I just realize, "Now that I think about it. Why didn't we send her back to the car with that scar face guy?"

Yuwei ponder saying, "Huh? Oh yeah."

Moriz interjects saying, "There's no point, scar may be quite strong from normal standards, but if his hands is tied with her on his side then even monster may even to take him down."

"Then why don't you or Yuwei go with him?" I ask.

"If I go with him then we will be leaving a royalty without her escorts which is not something we need to do now should we?And you know what? We should really go now there is no point in arguing."

"Sorry," I apologize as I bow my head.

Moriz looks through the door with a sharp gaze, he pets my head saying, "It's okay. Now I'll be going on ahead if you don't mind."

I nod saying, "Sure."

He walks out when I was about to follow Yuwei holds my shoulder asking, "Sova, what do you want for dinner tonight?

I stop in my tracks saying, "Well I don't really know but I guess something sweet would be nice."

Yuwei smile and nod saying, "I see. I guess I could allow that for today."

"Eh really, you will?"

She walks ahead saying, "Of course with all this things happening. I think you deserve a treat or two."

"Thank you sis."

Yuwei pets me saying, "Okay, okay, we better follow Moriz now. Let's make up during dinner for all the time I evade you I'm sorry."

"It's okay sis, we can talk during dinner."

She smiles saying, "Stay behind me alright?"

I nod and Yuwei starts walking ahead with the box. We walk in a straight line in this hallway. As we walk out of the hallway into the forgery.

As soon as we arrive at the forgery and nearing the stairs, a bright white light flashes. Engulfing us with a person's shadow.

Surprised, I look as the light dims and see Moriz laying down on the broken wall behind us with his suit's right sleeve torn apart to show scars in his toned arm. His suit now ragged and torn, his tidied up hair now messed up. The surrounding is blown away and the forgery is now like a broken ship.

Multiple individuals suddenly appear in silver full plate armor wearing pauldrons shape like tiger heads decorated with golden lines and they are all wearing a white tabard with golden patterns and a roaring white tiger insignia on it. Each of them holds a different weapon ranging from short to long range. Scarface stands blocking the stairway wearing the same garments as them.

When my hands starts to shiver uncontrollably. Moriz do a kick up, smiling widely as his qi burst like a raging tornado, blowing away the debris. He moves his hand around saying, "Geez what is it this time I wonder."

Scarface draw his unequal lenght sword saying, "Under the order of the White Tiger Family. I have been ordered to arrest the traitors within, which is you Moriz Chenghu. You have decided to make a deal with the Head of the Surnova family, Titania Surnova with proof from the guardian cams. Surrender now and give your self quietly. You don't want this to get messy."

Moriz sighs saying, "When did she get so infamous. It feels like it was just yesterday when she piss herself during the entrance cerimony," Moriz move his left leg backward, bending his knees slightly, he took out a meter long metal rod from his suit and raise both his arm to cover his cheeks saying, "Sova let me show you how we traditional Martial Artist fights."

Scarface clicks his tounge and all of their armour starts protruding from their back and chest, covering their head to form a helmet. Scarface raise his swrods high and takes a low stance with his twin unequal size blades. All the knights surrounds Moriz quickly. Moriz suddenly breath out a sigh of relieve and breaks his stance. Raising both his arms saying, "Nevermind... I have a promise to keep," he drops the metal rod and he puts his hands down.

They all suddenly stand straight and Scar face stands aside, a man in his teens descend from the stairs. His short jet black black hair, pale white skin, paired with his deep red eyes gives him a feeling of the eternal night, like the vampires... I look down on his feet to see there is no shadow. This feels like a de'ja vu.

In contrast with his long fancy white coat pattern by golden lines and decor while wearing a golden tiger medallion on his left chest giving it an angelic vibe.

Moriz smiles enthusiasticly shouting:

"Maomi!"

When I see a vein pop on his forehead, he suddenly becomes elusive then vanish. A shadow suddenly make a spinning hook kick on Moriz' face shouting:

"Don't call me that!" shattering the earth as it hits Moriz.

"Whyyyy!?" Moriz screams as he flung far behind us and crash into the wall.

He forms back, brushing his coat off and walks closer to us. Yuwei push me back and give the bird to carry the box. pulling out two metal rods from her long sleeves and hold each with both her hand.

The man walks closer to us, he bows down saying, "Firstly forgive our untimely intrusion and let me introduce myself, I am the second son of the white tiger family and Master Guardian in my sector. Xunyan Baihu."

Yuwei's hands catch on fire saying and the metal rod starts to glow in purple, "Get out of my Sector! You bring in Martial Artist into my sector without permission, break inside the house of my sworn family and hurt my friend. I should have execute you right where you stand if you're not part of the thirteen."

He still bowing down, with full of sincerity he say, "I know and we are very sorry for that. With you isolating your sector and cutting of diplomatic missions had made it impossible for us to make an appointment, and with a traitor from the opposition going into your territory we have no choice but to act as a good neighbour. We will send you deluxe gifts and reparations for our rash acts and palatial gifts for our sudden visit. Since we're here please let us do our job. Besides with the recent events, I'm sure you'll need it."

Yuwei face gotten furious. Moving her right foot back, Raising her right hand above her head and her lowering her left hand to her right saying, "You-" Moriz appear beside me with no visible damage after the hit, he raise his hands and walk forward stopping Yuwei from speaking.

He moves his body around saying, "I'm sorry Yuwei, it seems I brought trouble along the way," he look back at them saying, "We can settle this outside her sector."

Yuwei suddenly interject saying, "What's the meaning of this?"

Moriz nods his head saying, "Let's just say I decided to help a friend in need back at school. But I never knew my action would take me this far."

"Are those people in the diner not actually yours?" Yuwei looks dejected as she say that.

"Nope they become mine just this morning and they are one of the most loyal and fun people to be with, I guess now I know why she wont let them go. I guess I better stay then.
