As time went on classes continued, as usual, Knightmare tactics got more advanced but there were still no actual fights, however, they all did get to practice on Knightmare simulators.
George had stopped his attempts as soon as Leylin hinted that Cornelia was annoyed and after that.
Leylin and Cornelia were now well acquainted with each other, having been paired in most Knightmare simulations against each other.
Leylin made sure to lose a few times as there were no bets, but still won a majority of the fights. This led Cornelia to have a higher impression of Leylin as both of them always defeated everyone else in Knightmare combat.
Soon Knightmare tactics started to involve larger groups sparing against each other in larger spaces. It was now time for the whole class to be split into two and both sides having a mock battle.
Leylin and Cornelia were the respective leaders of both teams and the class was divided in a mostly fair manner.
The venue was to a hilly countryside with both sides starting a few kilometers from each other. The aim being to destroy as many of the opponents Knightmares before the time was up.
Leylin had stored the map on his AI chip and had already come up with a tactic. Thanks to him having talked with Cornelia much more these past few weeks he had a better understanding of Cornelia's character and the AI chip could predict the tactics she would use.
"AI chip whats the simulation results," Lelylin asked
[Beep… 5% chance victory with no losses…. 60 % chance victory with less than 50% losses … 25% chance victory with greater than 50% losses … 10% chance of victory with 99% losses]
"Well princess best of luck," Leylin said as he and Cornelia split up to go to their groups.
"Luck has nothing to do with this, you may have beaten me more, but from now it's gonna change" Cornelia replied.
Then they both left to meet their team for a talk.
Leylin was standing in front of his 11 people group. He knew of all of them however had not interacted much with many of them.
"Let's do this, we have a princess to beat," Leylin said trying to raise the morale.
George was not part of his group along with most of the Area 1 nobility. Still, he knew they would listen as the instructor had made it clear what would happen if they don't.
"Now for this, I have a few tactics, however for now just follow my orders as they come. I want to see what princess Cornelia has planned and will give my orders accordingly"
The students all nodded, while a few looked discontent, they had to follow his orders for now. He was the best in Knightmare class followed by Princess Cornelia and so he got to be the leader.
The game started and most of them started to move in a diamond formation with Leylin in the second row. He knew better than to be in the front row, as the army is useless without its commander.
Leylin had sent a couple to scout and another six as another unit acting as the vanguard.
Soon he got a transmission.
"We got one incoming"
"Just one?"
"Yes maybe their scout"
"Good engage with them, keep your distance, and attack with your guns"
Soon the scout was destroyed however he knew that Cornelia now knew his vanguard's position.
"Move southeast from now," Leylin told the vanguard.
Soon they had encountered Cornelias's main force of 10 Knightmares. It seemed she had decided to stay together expecting Leylins attack.
"We have them now, it seems they have divided their forces foolishly, we have them right where we want them. Charge!!!" Cornelia yelled as she charged headfirst into the fight.
"Vanguard engage but keep retreating, show them what you can do!" Leylin said over the com.
