Chapter 1

Angie was sitting in her classroom, taking notes of her maths lecture when she glanced outside. A four-wingedcreature, nine inches long and two horns on his head flew past her window. She stared at it for a while and then looked around the classroom. Even though several of them were staring outside, none of them had the reaction that they had seen something, like that 'creature'.

The first time she had seen something like that, had been on her twelfth birthday. She was driving back to her home when on the street, for a second she saw a man, with two heads, both of them green in color and looked slimy. She blinked and rubbed her eyes and it was gone. At first, she had been sure that it was all her imagination and it might have been something to do with the fact that she drank too much sugar.

However, these occurrences were becoming way too common for the past three months. Several times she had seen giant creatures, with a very long, thin neck, tentacles for legs and a really big oval shaped face, with only teeth on it, walking down the streets. She would look at them several times to make sure that they were really there and then finally, they would disappear, all of a sudden. Leaving her questioning about her sanity.

She hadn't told anyone about this. Besides, if she did tell someone, she was pretty sure that she would be taken for a drug test. Sometimes she thought that maybe people taking drugs, going into overdose, could see things like these. This must be why they suddenly start screaming or maybe, when they overdose, and are able to see these monsters, get killed. The monsters might do anything to keep their secret safe.

Maybe she would be killed too.

The school ended and Angie walked back to her home. As she was walking with her friends, she noticed two men, dressed in suits following them. Now, she was sure that she was just being paranoid. After all, they could just simply be walking down the same path as her. However, her gut told her that they were following her. When she glanced back at them, one of the men smiled at her while the other men looked really grumpy and had a big scowl on his face.

Angie quickened her footsteps. Mid-way her friends separated from her and she didn't want to be all by herself. She could still feel the two men tailing her. Finally, mustering all her courage, she turned around and to her relief, found nobody. It made her feel so relived that she grinned, thinking how stupid she was to get so paranoid so quickly. She made it home.

When she walked in through the door, she didn't know why but, today there was something off about the air in her parent's house. Her mom didn't even glance at her when she walked in through the door. Surprisingly she found her dad at the table. Usually, her dad would be very excited to see her. However, today, barely a glance.

Yet, she pushed all this aside. Thinking about her recent paranoia, she was sure that she must be imagining all this.

"Hi mom. How was your day?" Angie asked.

Her mom just straight away ignored her. She had been five when she had fallen off her bicycle and broke her tooth. That day's hurt was nothing compared to the hurt she just felt. She had been right about it. There was something off about today. As if on cue, the doorbell rang and her mom walked past her, ignoring her completely to open the door.

A gasp escaped from her mouth when she saw that it was those two men. Her mom was talking to them in whispers. One of the men, who had smiled at her was smiling at her mom. This guy looked older, somewhat in his early thirties. While the other guy who was scowling looked to be quite young, around seventeen or eighteen. She could feel that the younger guy hated the older guy.

"Yes mam, rest assured we will take her away from your hands." The older guy said, smiling at her mom and then stepping into her house.

Angie retracted a little and looked horrified. The man stepped up to her and smiled widely. It looked like the creepiest thing she had ever seen in her life.

"Angie, there are some things that we need to tell you about." The man said, his smile widening even further.

Meanwhile the younger guy was looking angrier than ever. Angie turned towards her parents. However, she couldn't locate them.

"You wouldn't find your parents Angie." The man said. "In fact, you will never see them again."

"No!" Angie screamed, finally finding the courage and running away.

All she had to do was find her parents. If she could find them, she could escape the situation. When she arrived in the kitchen, she found them but, to her surprise, they were looking at her with disgust. As if her very existence disgusted them.

"Mom, dad." Angie said, as tears poured down her eyes.

Without her realization, the two men had followed her. The older guy seemed to be enjoying himself, as if he was watching a movie. While the younger guy had balled his fists and was exercising the greatest self-control to not hit the older guy.

Then right in front of her eyes, her parents transformed into monsters. Their skins became darkish red, while their bodies twisted and turned and looked as if iron rods had been inserted inside them. Their faces disappeared, replaced by a single thin stick. Meanwhile their arms extended. Their fingers grew bigger and merged into three.

Angie was too shocked to say anything.

"I will never get tired of this." The older guy said, clapping his hands and having a look of great satisfaction on his face.
