Chapter 13

"Rendell let go of me now" Ariana said as they entered her chamber and Rendell freed her.

"I can't believe you just stood there and was going to watch her slap you, She is your little sister, You are the first princess, you should know to command authority" Rendell said.

"That is not how things work here, I can't afford to get my step mom angry, its less than a day since you became my personal knight and you are already causing trouble, I get you are new here but don't go around causing trouble for me. It was just going to be a slap. I am willing to take anything to ensure peace in this palace and you need to get that straight" Ariana said. "You are going to apologise to Belinda" Ariana added.

"I will do no such thing, I may not know who I am or anything about me but for as long I can remember, you are everything I got and I won't let her oppress you" Rendell said.

"Fine, but this must never repeat itself, if you don't care about your life, I care. From now henceforth I don't want you to ever be rude to Belinda or I will be forced to punish you" Ariana said.

"I can't guarantee anything" Rendell said and left.

Rendell was so pissed off by Ariana, He just saved her and yet she was scolding him. "If they try bullying her again, I will walk pass like I didn't see anything" Rendell said angrily to himself.

Rendell entered his room angrily and slammed the door, he laid in his bed, his room was large but not as large as Ariana's room or anything close to his room back in his palace. It was well furnished for a knight and comfortable. He couldn't believe he left his comfort zone although not that comfortable to him for this. Being here already averted is major reason of running away from home which was freedom. Rendell kept staring at the walls and finally slept off.

Ariana knew Rendell was angry, she didn't know why she scolded him, she is finally able to stand against her step sister with his help, she should be happy and not sad. But the least thing she wanted was for Rendell to get hurt. She could bear Badra and Belinda mistreatment but she fear she wouldn't be able to bear it if they lay their hands on Rendell or Aviva.

All the same, she felt bad for threatened to punish Rendell and saw the need to apologise to him. So went to his room to talk to him.

Ariana knocked on Rendell's door, but Rendell didn't open, He was fast asleep though he could hear the faint sounds from the door because of Ariana fragile knock, he didn't want to get up and speak to her.

Ariana was sad, she wanted to go back to her room but on a second thought, she decided to enter with his permission, he was her personal knight after all and he was living in her chamber. Anyone staying in her chamber belongs to her.

Though she felt bad about invading his privacy, she just wanted to apologise and to do that, she needed a listening ear. Ariana entered Rendell's room and saw Rendell lying on the bed.

She walked closer to him and knelt beside him. She watched him closely as he slept. He had a straight face even while sleeping but she couldn't help but admit Rendell was so handsome. His dark long hair covered his face. Ariana smiled at Rendell as he was trying to blow the hair off his face with his mouth. Ariana saw how peaceful and charming Rendell's soul was.

Ariana should have left seeing he was sleeping, but she took the leverage to watch him while he slept, she wasn't particularly busy. Ariana wanting to help, stretched her hand and hooked Rendell's strand of hair to his ear.

Immediately, Rendell felt the touch, the breath, the smell and the warmth of her and opened his eyes startling Ariana. Ariana was taken aback and almost fell but Rendell was swift in his actions and caught her.
