Chapter 20: Meeting the Protector 1!

"What about the swinging trapeze..." Damien Norman pointed again to another contraption.

"No..." Alex Bayly responded flatly while staring at her phone for the umpteenth time.

Damien was becoming frustrated. He had asked her about all the contraptions around but she couldn't give a positive response to any of the available contraptions, all she does is look at her phone as if waiting for someone to call.

Damien could guess that she was hoping that somehow Azrael would call even though he didn't get her number.

He was trying his best to not start a fight but her actions were really frustrating him. Imagine taking a girl on a date and all through the time you spent together with her, you could feel that her heart is elsewhere, this would frustrate anybody.

"Just admit that you love him..." Damien suddenly spat out.

Alex Bayly looked up at him in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"That boy named Azrael, you love him, you could as well just go to him and stop trying to hide..." Damien was pouring out his frustrations without holding back.

"Who am I on a date with?... you, Who am I going out with?...also you, I was supposed to be in school studying, instead I gave that all up to be here and you're here yapping nonsense... you know what, I am tired of all these..." Alex Bayly was making her voice heard while folding her hands and scrunching up her nostril in disgust.

Damien became quiet immediately when he saw that people had started staring at them. It was at this time that Alex continued speaking.

"You left me, Damien... You left me for about 9 years. I was sad, broken, and in pain and you didn't care. I'm 31 now Damien, I can't even love, it's like my heart is broken or something."

"Do you know how many men approach me on a daily basis? Lots of them, and some are very genuine and kind but I simply can't love them. After leaving me as a wreck, you suddenly popped back into my life and you see a homeless person that I'm giving my home to stay as your rival, isn't that stupid...?"

"In fact, whatever this is, it's over, please go back to wherever the fuck you creeped out from..." After shouting, Alex Bayly turned and started to walk away.

By this time, a crowd had gathered nearby and was watching the scene like one would watch a live play.

Damien felt totally embarrassed as he saw numerous judging eyes on him. He ran after Alex Bayly and held her hand while kneeling before her like a person about to be knighted.

"Lexy, I've told you so many times that I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you the way I did, I was young foolish, and sorry, I've told you this again and again. I was just jealous because I couldn't bear to lose you again."

"I was very foolish to leave the first time... forgive me..." Damien spoke softly, trying to appear sincere.

Alex looked into his eyes and softened. He had this way with words, always knowing the right thing to say to get her. She stopped moving and folded her hands.

"Can we at least try the swing..." Damien suggested again. This time Alex nodded in agreement and they both turned to move toward the swing.

Those watching were making "awwwww" sounds as they felt it was a happy ending to their dispute. Some felt they were doing it for publicity's sake and it wasn't real, others felt it was just a show.

While this was going on here, in the town square...

Wolvescamp, Townsquare...

The person. assigned to drive Azrael Herrington was initially heading towards the town square when he suddenly made a right turn and started heading in another direction.

Azrael looked at the driver in confusion. "Are we no more going to the town square...?" He asked as a number of questions started popping up in his mind.

"The old man initially wanted me to bring you to the town square, but he felt you might be exposed there so he changed his mind and prepared a remote place instead..." The driver responded.

Azrael looked at him unsure if to believe him or not, nonetheless, he remained silent and watched as the car continued down a quiet and empty street.

The driver around a bend into a bushy area with a very narrow path. The car was forced through the path into a certain clearing.

In this clearing, there was only a wooden house in the center with nothing else around.

The driver brought the car to a stop and put off the engine. "He's in there, go and meet him." The driver nodded

Azrael Herrington got down suspiciously, while occasionally staring back at the driver. He then closed the door of the car and started to move slowly towards the wooden house.

He suddenly heard the engine of the car turn on, the driver turned the car around and drove off.

"Wait....." Azrael shouted, but the driver had gone before he could complete his statement.

He sighed heavily and continued towards the wooden house.

He opened the door of the wooden house and entered slowly, as his feet creaked on the wooden floor of the house.

As he wanted to move, he heard a certain roar from behind him, he turned to see a big black werewolf in its half wolf transformation.

It stood on its two legs while baring its teeth. Azrael had his heart in his throat as he looked at the gigantic creature.

"Please I didn't mean to intrude, I am looking for an old man he asked me to see him at the town square but the driver brought me here instead...uhmmm" Azrael started mumbling as he backed away from the werewolf.

As he moved, the werewolf also moved, and this was really creeping him out. The werewolf suddenly burst into a sprint that made it seem like it wanted to pounce on him and devour him, but it abruptly stopped mid-air and transformed back into its human form.

Standing there was the old man who had a mischievous smile on his face.

"You did well. You're the first one not to faint after seeing my werewolf illusion. that's impressive." The old man said as he clapped his hands and smiled broadly.
