Things keep getting weird

"Me?! How the hell am I supposed to go up against that!" Samantha screamed as the mist formed a whirlwind and began to transform back into its physical state. "With this" Anansi brought out the Akrafena once more. "We don't have much time just take it!" The panic in Anansi's voice was clear for all to hear.

Hesitating no more, Samantha grabbed the Akrafena and turned to face the creature which had began charging towards them. With the blade before her Samantha responded to the roars of the creature with a war cry of her own, at that exact moment all her fear had temporarily vanished replacing it was burning fury towards the creature before her.

In response to her anger the blade in her hand released an energy blast that sent the creature flying back before reducing it to ash. Behind her Anansi who had just witnessed everything had a wide grin as he muttered underneath his breath, "I knew it".

Samantha who remained standing with the sword at hand was absolutely confused as to what had just happened. She had witnessed the sword lighting up as well as the blast which seemed to originate from the sword wiping out the monster with in less than a second, heck some of that energy had actually travelled through her.

Forgetting the world around her, she stared at the akrafena in her hand which had lost the glow from before and returned to its original state. Even though it had reverted to that state, Samantha could feel something, something which could only be described as mystical.

"Samantha, Samantha we need to go! now!" Anansi had come up behind her tugging on her arm. His actions had brought her back to her senses allowing for her to finally hear the sirens approaching her. "come on", following after Anansi the two quickly left the scene before the police could arrive.

*******************************

At Kumasi south hospital;

Samantha stood before a hospital bed looking down at Gloria who laid unconscious in the bed, with numerous tubes connected to her. Samantha took her friends hand into her own and looked down at her with tears welling up in her eyes. The commotion had luckily drawn the attention of the neighbors who had called for the ambulance.

Samantha had first checked on Elvis but his injury wasn't all that bad and he was expected to awaken the next day or by the day after by the latest. As for Gloria... her injuries were too severe she had a hole in her stomach after all, the doctors had done everything they could to keep her alive but they were unable to determine when she would awake or if she would even awake at all.

When she thought back to how the day had began none of them thought something like this would happen, 'why did this have to happen?' Samantha couldn't help but think to herself as she tightened the grip on her friends hand. At this moment, at the corner of her eye she caught sight of Anansi who stood in the hallway watching them.

Letting go of her friends hand she stormed towards him, "You're going to explain to me what the hell is really going on!" Samantha screamed into Anansi's face. Anansi looked down at her with eyes which she could clearly see contained some sort of guilt before speaking in a soft tone. "I'd advise you to lower your voice as you are the only one who can see and hear me."

His words allowed for Samantha to realize something looking around her, she was able to confirm her thoughts, doctors, nurses and people alike were all staring at her after her earlier outburst. Her messy hair, ruined make-up, dress with varying amount of damage as well as the bright red gash she was spotting on her forehead drew in a lot of questioning gazes.

Without a word she simply turned around and began to walk away and like she expected Anansi proceeded to follow after her silently. Samantha finally came to a halt after arriving at a place where there was no one present, "okay now you are gong to tell me, what the hell is actually going and no half ass explanations like before", Samantha spoke in a tone that seemed to leave no space space for objections.

Looking into her eyes and seeing the determination, Anansi was reminded of a woman he had met a hundred years ago. *sigh* "fine, if you are going to be fighting them, I believe its only fair if you knew who they were, the creatures we are up against are Sasanbonsam."

Samantha's eyes widened at the revelation as she muttered to herself, "Things just keep getting weirder and weirder don't they".
