The stranger in a suit

In a lecture hall, students were seated, their eyes all focused on the lecturer before themselves as she gave her lecture.

".... our country is rich in cultural heritage with various strong and famous characters appearing throughout history from the mystifying Okomfo Anokye to the warrior queen herself Yaa Asantewaa, who is one of my favorite historical figures. she once said 'How can a proud and brave people like the Asante sit back and look while white men took away their king and chiefs, and humiliated them with a demand for the Golden Stool. The Golden Stool only means money to the Whiteman; they have searched and dug everywhere for it. I shall not pay one predwan to the governor. If you, the chiefs of Asante, are going to behave like cowards and not fight, you should exchange your loincloths for my undergarments (Montu mo danta mma me na monnye me tam).' "*ring *ring* an alarm went off signifying the end of the lecture "okay that ends today's lecture. I want an essay about one of the many great characters in our Ghanaian history, this paper will be due in two weeks which is an ample amount of time."

The lecturer finished speaking as her students made their way out of the lecture hall, the lecturer proceeded to pack her things as well when she received a call. Looking to the caller I.D a sigh escaped her lips, "Hello Gloria" she spoke as she answered the phone.

"Hey Sam, so I just wanted to remind you about tomorrow"

"Tomorrow?"

"Yes tomorrow, you forgot didn't you."

"No, I didn't, I totally know what is happening tomorrow"

"Oh really?"

"yeah"

"Okay, then tell me. What is going on tomorrow?"

Samantha stuttered on the phone as she tried her hardest to remember what exactly was happening tomorrow. "Okay… so I might have forgotten" Samantha finally admitted after another minute of stuttering on the phone.

"Why am I not even surprised." "I'm really sorry but I've been caught up in my work lately and it must have slipped my mind", Samantha apologized once more as she finished packing up all her things. "Fine, tomorrow is Elvis' birthday and you are supposed to bring the cake. Oh my god the cake… you know what I think I'll get the cake myself".

"No, I'm supposed to get it so I'll get it"

Samantha argued, "but you know you're busy so I'll-"Samantha cut Gloria off, "Gloria I said I would do it and so I will". Gloria tried to dissuade Samantha but failed, finally relenting Gloria sighed "fine you can get the cake, but if you forget I won't ever talk to you again".

"Don't worry I'll get it today on my way home, okay bye" Samantha ended the call as she headed for her car placing her things at the back before hoping in the front seat and driving off.

Unknown to Samantha, a man was watching her from a distance. This man was dressed sharply in a black suit with a white shirt. His black hair was pulled back in a man bun, he had a mischievous grin etched unto his face which gave him a certain charm. His amber eyes gave a faint glow as they followed Samantha who drove off.

Giving Samantha's car one last look he disappeared at where he stood, surprisingly without drawing attention from the countless people walking right by him.

Later that night; Samantha had arrived with the cake she had retrieved from the baker at hand, walking to her door she unlocked it and made her way into her house. Locking the door behind her she turned the light on as she headed into her living room, "hey Samantha, I've been waiting for you. Chicken".

Samantha looked to the sharply dressed stranger seated on her sofa offering her chicken for a moment, before she began screaming her lungs out and dropping the cake in her hand in the process. "Right, what a waste of perfectly good cake" the stranger sighed as he put the plate of chicken down on a table before himself, then proceeded to wipe the oil of his hand with a napkin.

"Would you please stop screaming, your scream in absolutely irritating and also, I'm pretty sure you're going to alert the neighbors." The stranger in the suit spoke in a calm tone his voice surprisingly soothing. Samantha stopped screaming after that and proceeded to rummage through her bag which cause the stranger to look to her actions with confusion and curiosity clearly visible in his eyes.

Samantha soon found what she was looking for and pulled her phone out, "what are you doing?". Samantha ignored the man as she quickly moved to dial for the police but before she could press the final 2 her phone was yanked out of her hand and straight into the stranger's hand, "let's not, okay" with those words he placed the phone unto the table.

Samantha hadn't said a word as she thought back to just how the phone was yanked out her hand, she could swear she saw some sort of glowing thread yank her phone out of her hand. Gathering what little courage she had she decided to speak to the stranger before her.

"Who are you?" "Oh yes, where are my manners, my name is Anansi, Kweku Anansi… Odomankoma's Head-weaver; Master Craftsman in the Guild of Divine Craftsmen; Legend of Tailless Tales; One who manipulates creation from the fringes of a vibrant web; Hunter Extraordinaire; Member of the Cult of Cosmic Linguistics; Supreme Strategist; The Mediator between gods and mortals. At your service."

"What?!" was Samantha brilliant answer to all that.
