Prologue

My grandma told me to always stay strong and confident no matter the situation. I had the best life with her. She was my whole world. Every summer we used to go to see the lavender fields in Hokkaido. It was just me and my grandma, we weren't rich but we were content with our life. But god couldn't bear our happiness. Grandma had prostate cancer. I didn't know she'll leave me this soon.

I was devastated. With her gone I had no one. I didn't even know if I have any relatives. At least not before that day. I was at our tiny house, all alone, crying while holding her picture and a letter she left for me. Actually she knew she had cancer and didn't have much time. Instead of going under treatment she saved up a lot of money for me to live on as well as a insurance on her. I was reading the letter in utter shock when I heard a knock at my door. A tall serious looking lady was standing with a suitcase.

"Hello ma'am. How can I help you?" I asked while wiping off my tears.

"I'm guessing you're Doremi?"

"It's Dorothy." I said.

"What?"

"My name, it's Dorothy."

"Huh? But they said it's Doremi. What's your grandma's name?"

"It's Hanaka."

"Then I'm at the right place. Go pack your bags. Only take things that you need."

"Why should I? Who are you? Did you know my grandma?"

"Ok so I'm guessing you don't know about all these. Your parents live in California. And they want you there."

"MY PARENTS?" Bu- but they are alive?"

"Of course they are alive and well. I bet you wanna meet them."

"I do. But I can't go to California."

"Oh don't worry about that. We've got everything ready, just pack your things and we'll left for the airport."

It seems I had a visa ready. Grandma knew everything. I had a lot of questions. But didn't knew who to ask. And that's how at the age of 8 I moved to Los Angeles, California and met my parents as well as my TWIN BROTHER.
