Level Up

As refreshing as it was I was alone in that city, no family or friends yet, no one to come pick me up at the airport either so I picked up my luggage and walked outside to see if I would sight an airport taxi but on a second thought I decided to order an Uber ride. I was so focused on my phone when I bumped into someone. Look we're you're going, he said

I'm so sorry, I replied.

That doesn't change anything, you should walk properly with your eyes fixed on the road and not your phone, get off my way, he said.

He was a light skinned, tall, beard gang, broad chest, curly dark haired handsome guy but then who cares he was rude anyway. It was not like I spilled a drink on him or something, I just lost focus on the way for a while and stepped on him accidentally, but mehn those were real luxury shoes, he's probably some rich spoilt kid I thought.

I heard a notification sound on my phone, the Uber driver had just arrived and I was headed to my new apartment somewhere in Ottawa the company had provided free accommodation and an official car for me, that was a spicy package more reason I started feeling good from the airport.

About 45 minutes drive I got to my apartment, it was at the 35th floor, a one bedroom flat with so much space and yes it was fully furnished and at that point I thanked God aloud. I liked my new apartment, it was comfortable and the view from the 35th floor was so beautiful. After I settled in and arranged my properties it was late already, I had to call home to inform them that I landed safely and also tell them about my new apartment, I was so excited and hungry so I decided to go down and take a walk for the main purpose of getting something to eat, I was so hungry at that time. A few steps along the road I spotted a restaurant, I had my dinner and headed back home because I was to report at 8am to the office the next day.

Grinnnnn grinn the loud buzzing and beeping sound of my alarm covered the room it was 6:30am , a day that already seemed beautiful or who I say I perceived it to be. I jumped out of my bed to start preparing for work, I wasn't gonna be late for any reason whatsoever and I had a very huge problem with picking outfits every time I had an occasion to attend and mum wasn't there to help me or asked why I had to try on over four outfits before picking one or probably end up picking none of them, yes it was that bad. So I decided to pick just one outfit, which I dropped on top of the bed before I went for a shower. A few minutes later I was set for work, I starred at myself in the mirror for a while. I had a blue dress on, black heels and bag with my hair tied up in a bun. I loved my look, it was smart and i looked so curvy in my bodycum dress, I smiled as I boldly headed to the parking lot, I had so much confidence.

When I got to the office I had to go for a brief orientation before I was taken to my office proper, it was on the 7th floor of the building. It was a nice space and well organized too, I was handed over a file to go through before the end of working hours. Later that morning the receptionist at the office came to introduce herself to me.

Hi I'm Helen you're so beautiful, she said.

I returned with a smile, thank you I'm Laura. I'm new here and it's my first day at work.

You'll like it here, feel free to call my attention whenever you need anything ma'am she responded. Thereafter I took a tour around the office and exchanged pleasantries with some of my colleagues and then headed back to my office to upload my data page on my system, it was a calm and less stressful day, I didn't get to do much or even any work at all so I just sat and was seriously reviewing the file I was told to go through with my face pointed seriously down at the file, I tried to look so focused as people passed by and stared and yeah I was quite observant of my surroundings I noticed the people that stared and whispered to each other and also those that stared and waved to greet it was a transparent glass so I could see them and they could see me too, meaning there was no room for any privacy.

I heard a knock on the door and it was Helen, how do you like you're coffee ma'am? Cream or sugar? Cream I responded with a smile and shortly after she returned with a cup of coffee for me, how kind I thought because I really have not had anyone serve me before so it felt really good. She was about leaving when she turned around and said Miss Laura we'll be expecting an important person before the end of the day. The CEO and some partners just came into town and have a meeting scheduled for 2pm, I just thought to keep you informed ma'am. Thank you very much Helen I really appreciate, I responded.

A few hours later they had arrived so we were all asked to come down and welcome our guests, we assembled in a role as we welcomed our board members greeting them one after the other with a handshake. Welcome to Sharclar limited Sir, welcome to Sharclar limited ma'am was heard all over the room. There after we headed to our various offices respectively, I felt this calmness and joy inside of me, it was a good day for a start.
