A New Hope

"You are kidding, right?" The Sheriff asked in disbelief. He couldn't believe what Raiden just told him.

"No! Toshi, I and Sheila really came here from Shibuya. And, that night, we wondered for what reason we didn't encounter any zombies. We thought it was just our luck. But, it was because of you and your comrades, Sheriff. We survived that day because of you," Raiden said.

"Yeah.. Now it all makes sense," Sheila said. "That's why you guys had no problem arriving at Raiden's house. Sheila looked at the Sheriff and said, "It really is true, Sheriff! You did save them!"

The Sheriff had no words to say. He never thought he would have actually saved someone. He finally came to know that all his efforts were not in vain. Even if it was just a single life he saved, he was happy.

"I see.." He gently let out those words and a smile showed up on his face which showed that his heart was finally at peace.

"Yeah. So don't ever say what you did was in vain," Raiden said.
