Chapter 74 - Battle/Editing LV6

*Change of POV*

In the center of the road, Ferdinand stared at Eliot with cold eyes. He held his sharp sword tightly. Around him, an aura of power rippled gently.

Eliot was about a meter tall, so the height of the two was very different.

Eliot's menacing metal claws reflected the sun as he swallowed his saliva.

Without warning, Ferdinand took the first step, teleporting in a split second to a spot next to Eliot. His sword came down in a deadly move, but Eliot teleported away at the last moment, reappearing a few meters behind him.

'Damn, that son of a bitch is dangerous.' Eliot shouted internally.

Eliot lunged forward, his claws slicing through the air with lethal precision. Ferdinand then jumped backward, out of reach of the sharp claws.

Ferdinand raised his hand, muttering strange words, and a fireball appeared. Eliot stared at it, not understanding. Eliot thought that only he could wield magic so freely, and the inhabitants of this world could only use pre-defined spells.

Ferdinand then launched the fireball towards Eliot, who teleported to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack.

Eliot then took the offensive, teleporting to Ferdinand and attacking with his metal claws. Ferdinand raised his sword to block, sparks flying as metal met metal. With a quick spin, he tried to slash Eliot, but he teleported again, this time appearing directly behind Ferdinand and hitting one of his claws on his shoulder. 

Urgh!

Ferdinand groaned in pain but bit his lip and endured the pain.

Using wind magic, Ferdinand created an air barrier that pushed Eliot backward, allowing him to catch his breath.

Blood dripped from Ferdinand's wounded shoulder, but his eyes were full of determination. With a war cry, he fired several bursts of fire toward Eliot, trying to incinerate him.

Despite not being fast enough, Eliot managed to move quickly using short-distance teleportation. He avoided almost all the attacks. Unfortunately, one of the fireballs hit him.

He didn't feel any pain because of his [ Pain Nullification ] ability, and his life didn't go down either because of his high resistance.

The battle continued fiercely, each one testing the other's limits. Ferdinand had an advantage because of his speed, but Eliot was managing to hurt Ferdinand little by little. His movements were calculated, always looking for an opening.

The ground around them was broken and also black from the flames. The monsters nearby had been killed, and those at a distance were afraid to approach. They knew they would be killed.

'His stamina is dropping a lot. He's close to his limit.'

Ferdinand didn't have SP regeneration skills. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he tried to think of a way to attack Eliot. The spider was much more dangerous than he had imagined.

Ferdinand then made one last attack, using almost all his remaining MP. His sword glowed with an intense light, engulfed in flames, and he teleported directly at Eliot, delivering a devastating blow.

Eliot looked at his flaming sword and felt that it was dangerous. But simultaneously, he thought that he didn't need to avoid the attack. They were conflicting feelings. Eliot's eight eyes widened.

Ferdinand's attack comes down towards him, and Eliot creates a shield using dark magic that he has never used before.

His eight paws were covered in darkness and created a powerful shield.

Ferdinand's eyebrows rose when he realized his sword had been stopped, and the flames gradually disappeared. The shockwave created by his attack threw everything away. Even the grass on the ground was ripped up.

Using Ferdinand's distraction, Eliot edited his status, removed the edit on his defense, and put everything at his speed.

It all happened in a fraction of a millisecond.

Ferdinand, who didn't notice the sudden change, couldn't keep up with Eliot's speed of over 120,000. His claw went completely through Ferdinand's defense, beautifully piercing the light armor he was wearing.

He was hit directly in the heart.

Ferdinand grabbed Eliot's paw and then fell to his knees.

"How? How is this possible? Why couldn't I see this attack?"

'You didn't expect me to be able to edit my Status, did you?'

"What do you mean by edit your Status? How..." Ferdinand used his [ Appraisal ] skill one last time. He then spat a mouthful of blood at Eliot. Eliot then removed his claw from Ferdinand's chest.

'It was a good fight. Don't worry. I'll put you to good use.'

Ferdinand rested his sword on the ground, his life slowly ebbing away as he struggled to get to his knees. He raised his eyes and looked at Eliot one last time. "I hope you're prepared for what will happen to you."

'Huh?'

Eliot didn't understand what he meant by that, but he knew he could get an answer when he revived Ferdinand and asked him everything he needed to know.

'I need to find out who sent you here. Was it the emperor or something? They must be watching me now that I've assembled this army. Speaking of which, I've lost a lot of soldiers~~ That sucks.'

'Eliot!!!!'

'Oh, are you all right?'

'And you, how are you?!' Kumoko was extremely worried about Eliot. She quickly approached him and checked every part of his body.

'I'm fine, don't worry. I'm waiting for the notifications to arrive.'

'Really? Tell me what changed.' Kumoko's eyes were shining.
