Chapter 1: Terror (Ryek)

I awoke feeling cold, thinking to myself that I was absolutely sure that I had closed the window before going to bed. So I get up to check the window, just to make sure that it's closed. As I sit up I notice the faint metallic smell that accompanies blood. I sort of panic a little bit, as there have been reports of rogue vampires lately. So I get up off my pallet, and no sooner do I get half way up, I find myself flying towards the wall and my vision goes black immediately upon impact with said wall. As I come to, I see a man walking towards me. My heart races with fear as I see blood dripping down his chin. I subconsciously flinch as he reaches his hand out to caress my cheek. He smiles as I flinch.

"Ah finally awake I see," he says in a tone completely belying his demeanor.

"Mmmm, I'd bet you are the sweetest tasting of the whole family, I'm gonna enjoy you. After we're done with the rest of your family you are going to be our dessert. And if you play nicely we may even turn you." He said as we slapped my cheek lightly. "Now be a good girl and stay right there or I'm afraid I'd have to waste all that precious blood by slicing that pretty little throat of yours."

He walked away from me with those parting words, thinking I was sufficiently scared enough to accept my so-called fate. I gathered what little courage I had left just in time to see my father and brother already dead and drained, and the three of them busy feeding on my mother and sisters. Figuring they were totally immersed by now, I happen to notice out of the corner of my eye, that they left the door wide open. Call me cold hearted, but I have no time to grieve. I'm sure they assumed that I would be too frightened to move, so they didn't bother to close it. With one last parting glance towards my now deceased family I silently beg their forgiveness for abandoning them. As silently as I know how to, I move towards the door. I know if I don't make it, one way or another I'm dead. Seconds seem like hours as I make my way out of the house. As soon as I clear the door I stand up and run as fast as my cramped legs will go.
