"I should have bitten him even harder," Hazel grumbled under her breath without thinking twice, which was easy to be heard by Gillian and this left the shifter stunned.
"You bit him?!" Gillian was shocked. For a shifter, that kind of thing was an intimate gesture. Something you shouldn't do recklessly to someone else, especially to your opposite sex.
The king would definitely lose it when he heard this…
"Yeah, I bit his hand when he tried to stop me from leaving," Hazel replied innocently, not even realizing the gravity of the situation, but then she realized Gillian shifting about uneasily in his seat. She asked him about it. "What is it?"
"Hm…" Gillian was hesitant to tell Hazel about this, since he was not sure how much she knew about their world. "I suggest you to not say anything about this to the alpha…"
"Alpha who? Micah?" Hazel tilted her head. She heard Archer call the man an alpha, as if it was some title for a high ranking person or something.
"Yes."
Hazel didn't understand why she couldn't say anything about that, but she agreed without any scruples, since she didn't think the topic would even come up. "Are we going to meet him?" she asked him after a few moments of silence.
"Yes, but the alpha is in his own residence, so I think it will take around two hours for us to reach there." Gillian informed her of the estimated time.
"Two hours? Where does he live?" In the mountains? But, Hazel didn't voice out her last question, since it didn't sound appropriate.
"The alpha doesn't like to hear the city crowd or meet a lot of people," Gillian said and then mentioned a small city a little bit far away from the capital city, which was famous for its beautiful nature.
Well, he was indeed living in the mountains then… Hazel thought.
"What happened to your lips. Did that man hurt you?" Gillian only realized it when Hazel touched her lips subconsciously. He couldn't help dreading the king's reaction.
"No, nothing." Hazel waved her hand when she answered that, because talking about it would only make her feel upset. Not to mention that she was completely homeless, broke and hungry on top of everything right now.
Was it possible to sell the wine? From the name of it and her family members' reactions, she was sure that it was expensive stuff…
======================
Gillian stopped the car right in front of a huge house that could easily pass as a castle-like house, where the alpha had been waiting.
It was a rare sight to see the alpha waiting for someone, with the royal beta next to him, since he had never done it before for as long as one could remember.
Once the car stopped, Micah immediately came to the backseat and opened the door for her, only to find out the girl had fallen asleep.
"This trip seemed to take a toll on Luna. She fell asleep," Gillian said and then explained about the wound on her lips.
"Wound?" Micah furrowed his brows and immediately brushed her hair that curtained her face away, and there, on her bottom lip, he could see a glaring wound that had dry blood on it. "How could this happen?"
His voice sounded so cold and distant, until it was able to send shivers down their spines. Knowing the alpha, this was not a good sign.
"My apologies, but I don't know. You gave an order to not pry into the Luna's thoughts and Luna didn't want to talk about it as well." Gillian had tried to ask, but Hazel didn't to tell him about what happened.
On the other hand, Micah's blue eyes turned a few shades darker. He didn't remember something like this happening in the past, but indeed, he had done something that he didn't do in the past either.
He sent food and wine to Hazel because she told him she was starved during that lunch, since her family ordered her seafood.
Did it result in this?
It had only been a few hours and she got hurt…
Gently, Micah gathered Hazel into his arms and then carried her out of the car. She was still fast asleep. He remembered that she was a heavy sleeper, so probably she wouldn't wake up until midnight, seeing how tired she was. Emotionally and physically.
[Wait in my study,] Micah mind linked Gillian when he walked past him, with Hazel in his arms. He looked very protective, as if he was ready to tear anyone who was daring enough to touch his woman apart.
Let alone seeing the anger on the alpha's face because his mate was injured, Gillian was not even able to stand straight when he strode past him.
It almost felt like death just missed its target by an inch.
[Yes, yes alpha…] he stuttered when he answered, yet the king had long disappeared.
"What is it?" Jaxon asked Gillian, as they walked back to the house.
"I think Luna has a complicated life…" Gillian mumbled. His brows furrowed deeply.
========================
Hazel woke up when she felt her stomach hurt. She was hungry. The last meal that she had was this morning, a plate of breakfast that was made by a sexy and hot man for her, but after that she didn't get to eat any lunch.
"Wake up and you can eat."
This soft and hoarse voice caressed Hazel's ears and sent a delightful shiver to her stomach, as she found herself gasping for air when she felt this tingling feeling on her skin.
"What…?" Hazel peeled open her sleepy eyes to see that man right in front of her. His face was so close, until she could feel his warm breath on her lips and breathed in his scent.
Oh, bless my eyes to be greeted by such a sight…
Hazel was still muddle-headed when she felt that way, since she was too exhausted to remember that he could hear that or she had to filter her thoughts.
