Chapter 33

Black heavy clouds had gathered in the distance of the horizon. Lightning fell vertically into the sea, tearing the air, and the thunder that followed could be heard as far as our ship was.

"We don't have the time to avoid it," said the captain. "We have to go through it," he clenched his fingers on the steering wheel, glaring at the oncoming storm.

The men looked frustrated but not scared. After years at sea, they would indeed have gotten used to the storms, and once they had survived, they would know what to do in such situations in order to emerge victoriously.

But Brielle and I had no idea what to do, and that started to worry me.

The wind started to rise, and the humidity it carried made me shiver. Gradually it began to grow stronger, whipping our faces.

The dark clouds pushed by the air were getting closer to us. The sky darkened, and the sea got darkened as well, getting the color of the abyss.
