Chapter 29, part 1

"If they did, why are their things here, Captain? How can run away with nothing?" Jimena pointed out.

She still couldn't believe what had happened.

"Serena carried Lady Brielle who couldn't yet walk. That's why they left their belongings behind. They had to sacrifice something," he said with a hint of bitterness in his voice. He didn't see that coming.

Inwardly he blamed himself for this bad result. After yesterday's press on Serena, he should suspect it, and maybe he would have stopped it.

Did he want to stop it? He asked himself but had no answer to give.

But he certainly wouldn't let it go.

He felt pain and unconsciously touched his chest, where his heart was.

Why did you run away, Serena? We would find a solution.

He grabbed his aching head. When he woke up in the morning, Liliana was already gone. His head ached like never before, and he felt it heavy on his shoulders.
