The birds were chirping and many different beasts go be heard in the distance. Kane, all four of his Kazaki honor guards, and 4 orc scouts were riding along a path in the forest. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary but he still stayed alert.
He had ridden to the area where the orcs had originally encountered the soldiers. They were around 7 corpses in a pile. They wore a mix of leather and metal armor. They had what looked like Persian war helmets on their head. Most of their weapons looked to be claymores and broadswords with the exception of 2 crossbows. Kane did not know what kind of metal the gear was as it was an unusually dark metal.
One of his guards said that it was Myrite and it was pretty strong and common on the continent. No wonder Kane did not know it as it was never on earth.
The Kazaki were famous nomads and knew many things about the world and also had many handy skills. His guards lead them down a path where they had found tracks of the Kokar soldiers.
This could lead him to their camp so he made sure everyone was very careful. He would first scout the area then he would come back with more troops to take control of it.
"My lord there is much sound coming from past that cluster of trees. We can also smell smoke" said one of his guards while pointing in front of him.
"Ok, everyone be quiet and let's demount. We will need to be extra careful here," said Kane.
He then lead his troops to the cluster of trees. He could hear talking and laughing. He smelled what seemed to be roasted rabbit.
Peeking from behind the trees he saw something that definitely gave him a headache.
There were about 6 big tents with what seemed to be around 30 soldiers surrounding them. They were cooking using campfires and were chopping down trees to make a bigger clearing. It also seemed that they were trying to build fortifications.
It really seemed like they did not have friendly intentions. It was unknown if their intentions were toward Kane and his kingdom or another force like the orcs.
"What should we do chief?" asked one of the orcs.
"I am unsure what they want but we should find out. Let's head back and gather reinforcements."
"Their camp is surrounded by dense vegetation, your highness. We won't be able to bring many" said one of the Kazaki.
"hmm, your right. I want to gather at least 30 crusaders and see if we can have some goblins and kobolds wait in the trees to ambush them in case we need it. Hopefully, the troops we see in front of us are the only ones" said Kane.
"I will gather them when we arrive your highness."
"Good."
Kane and company swiftly left and mounted their rides and headed back to prepare to welcome their new guests.
