Chapter 45

"Everything ready?"

"Yes, your highness. Everything is set up. The troops gathered and all defenses are accounted for. Also, we have received reports that our ambushes have been very successful at thinning the orcs numbers."

"That's good to hear. Guess it's time for our second big battle."

"They will bow before you or die"

Kane smiled at the Roman. The information was useful and the soldier's confidence was inspiring.

Kane walked up to the tallest part of the wall he could find. The battle was nearing and he wanted his troops to look at it with fire in their souls and wills of steel. The best way to do that was to of course give a motivational speech.

"TODAY IS THE FIRST OF MANY BATTLES WHERE WE MUST DEFEND OUR HOME! WE WILL SHOW ALL WHO TRY AND TAKE WHAT'S OURS THAT ALL THEY WILL GET FROM US IS A TRIP TO THE AFTERLIFE!!! I ASK YOU ALL TO FIGHT FOR YOUR HOMES AND FOR THE GLORY OF THE DEUS BELI EMPIRE! BRING DOWN THE MIGHT OF THE WAR GOD AND SHOW THEM THAT YOU ARE TO BE FEARED MORE THAN ANY DRAGON! STRENGTH AND HONOR WARRIORS!"

Kane looked at his people. A second of silence went by before a storm erupted from all who stood on the allure.

"STRENGTH AND HONOR!"

"LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!"

"FOR THE EMPIRE!"

"YARAAHHHH!"

"KILL ALL WHO OPPOSE US!"

"NOTHING WILL STAND IN OUR WAY!"

"HAHAHAHA LET'S MAKE THEM REGRET BEING BORN!"

"FIGHT FIRST! DRINK LATER!"

Now his troops were truly ready. Even the trolls seemed to have had their morale risen. Their clapping and yelling were so loud it probably made the surrounding troops deaf.

Kane got his lance and took a deep breath. He knew that any minute now a flaming arrow would fly somewhere from the forest into the sky. This was the signal that the orcs were about to attack.

Sure enough, loud yells and horns could be heard. The trees shook and it sounded like a stampede. Many beasts came flowing out like a stream with orcs riding on top. They had many weapons and definitely looked ferocious.

Arrows flew both ways. Both sides immediately suffered losses and blood was spilled everywhere.

A group of orc cavalry who had just exited the forest and were heading towards the wall was stopped by a giant boulder that crushed them into meat paste. The sound of a laughing troll could be heard afterward.

Kane was looking down at the orcs. The force had started to gather now and the constant attacks had died down. It looks like they were having trouble as usual. The Iron Rose Kingdoms wall was really could and holding them at bay.

The kingdom would be safe as it was pretty easy to stop the orcs from using tools or other methods to get over. Thanks to the wall the orcs had never made it inside the kingdom. The only problem is that the kingdom relied so much on the wall it did not have enough power to defeat the orcs.

Kane saw a huge ugly orc with a metal hand leading the orcs. This must be Gashna. He looked furious. Kane smiled at the orcs. As usual, they had failed at their pesky invasion.

Things may have gone well but now the real work had to be done. Kane wanted to completely defeat the orcs once and for all. He had many troops head down from the wall to prepare to charge out at the orcs. He made sure to keep on bombarding them with arrows, fire, boulders, to make it easier for his ground troops. He would head down as well to charge out with his men.

He had a crusader prepare to hit a big drum that was on the wall. This was the signal for the orcs on his side to backstab the others. The kobolds and goblins who were not on the wall or getting ready to charge outside it were hiding in the forest. They would also attack from behind. The orc forces would be completely surrounded.

When the last of the boulders had been thrown and a bunch of orcs had been flattened Kane gave the signal for the drummer to start the orcs final stand.

"Let's finish this!"

The gates opened which greatly surprised the orcs. They would have been happy about this if not for many of them suddenly dying. One of the leaders even had his skull crushed by his blood brother.

"What is happening!?!" yelled Gashna.

The orcs went crazy and started killing each other in a frenzy. They did not seem to mind that a fully armored cavalry was headed towards them.

"We have been betrayed!" said an orc right before a spear pierced his neck.

Kane was in the zone and so was his warg. While his lance was making a kabob out of the orcs his warg was mauling them. He had charged through the main force and they could do nothing about it as they were already confused with the traitors.

"Keep pushing!" yelled Kane. They had encircled the surviving orcs and were slowly killing them off. A troll who had come down from the wall had also started dealing with the beasts who had escaped.

"You will all pay!" yelled Gashna.

"And you will burn," said Kane before throwing a spear made out of his fire. It hit the orc leader in the eye and the rest was history.

"Surrender and you will be given the chance to join me. Many others have and it will be much better than becoming fertilizer for my crops. Do not be even dumber and try and resist. Become my sword and shield and you will never again suffer from hunger or unfair treatment. You will become my citizens and soldiers and help me conquer all in my path!"

The enemy orcs looked dejected. They had lost. Some saw hope though and decided it would be best to join the human who had defeated them. He was a true warrior and they saw him as a much stronger presence than any orc.

"We will serve the new chief! We will slaughter his enemies!"

Many orcs joined him that day. Some who were unsure were quickly persuaded by others who had already joined.

Alas, there were still some who stayed defiant. Needless to say, they were quickly killed.

Kane looked at the orcs before him. Some stood tall like warriors while others howled like savages. These troops would be perfect. A great boost for his power.

He would have the orcs join the horde with the goblins, kobolds, and trolls. The savages and warriors had their differences but also complement each other in battle. With proper training, they would become an extremely efficient killing force. He would have Hogar handle all of the horde matter for the time being.

This victory demanded a celebration. Kane would make sure it was as memorable as the battle. After all, he had received one of the best rewards ever thanks to the victory.
