Chapter 43

"Sir it looks like the orcs are getting more and more upset with us" laughed Jag. It had been several days and with the help of his new orc warriors, Kane knew where all the scouts would be. He had been sending troops to kill them and the hunting parties. The orcs were getting so upset that they had launched a few attacks on his men or the wall but with not much success.

Urg had sent messages to meet up with Kane's men. This is how he learned much about the orc tribe's plans. Urg and Grat had also apparently recruited a lot of the warrior orcs to their side. A lot of them were unhappy with the current leadership which benefited Kane. A lot of the savage orcs were fine with the current leadership though. Apparently, if Kane defeated Gashna though then it would not be that hard to get them on his side. At least the weaker and crazier ones.

Urg also sent a message saying that Gashna would attack soon. Looks like the orcs were now getting desperate. Kane was elated. It seemed like it would not be as hard as he originally thought to defeat these orcs. The numbers may be a lot but Kane had the Iron Kingdoms wall and very loyal troops to defend it. He could also ambush the orc army by having the orcs who were on his side betray the rest during the battle.

The men at the goblin camp had also sent some great news. The goblins had not bred to a huge amount but they had also been trained and geared up to fight much better than an average goblin. They would not just be great cannon fodder now but a great swarm of craziness and steel.

The goblins had been very busy. So busy that they now numbered in the thousands. Kane made sure the give them better equipment and trainers to make sure they could use it. They were killing machines now.

Kane would set up a bunch of them to hide in the forest and ambush the army with spears, traps, and crossbows. This would help weaken the army before it reached the wall. He would also have some kobolds join them.

Kane would have the rest of his men on the walls ready to rain his fury down on the invaders. The Iron Rose Kingdom did not have any siege weapons so Kane had some built. Kane did not have enough people to build them and the dwarfs were pretty busy with making weapons and armor. He ended up with 4 catapults which was fine but not much. Luckily Kane had the trolls. He would have them throw rocks covered in oil into the masses of orcs. They would also be lit on fire.

Kane all made sure that all his men would train with a bow and arrows. They would need to be able to hit the orcs from on top of the wall. Kane also gathered as much oil as he possibly could. He wanted to coat everything in it. He also planned to pour it onto the orcs while setting it aflame.

"Jag I want to send a rider to meet with Hyatt Chan. He has been busy with business but I need him to buy more oil for us. Also, I want to check how the selling is going. I hope he has found some buyers who are up for ongoing trade. Would you have some of your men accompany as guards?"

Jag nodded "that will be fine. The orcs have already tried to attack some of our men so we must be careful."

Kane was glad about this. Things were going well but his soldiers were spread thin and things would get even busier. It was a shame that the mission would not give him his reward ahead of time.

Kane had some shop points but it would not make much of a difference currently so he would just save them.

Kane decided that he had done everything he could for now. He wanted to have a drink and have a servant give him a massage. After all planning, a war could make one's muscles really tense up.
