Kane watched as the incoming Sparrow Knights brought down two guards. His group was now all that stood between the manor and the invaders.
"Please hurry Helen!" yelled Samuel who was in between the mage and the attackers.
"Working on it!" said Helen before returning to preparing a spell.
As interesting as magic was to Kane he knew he had to focus on the current battle. Along with Ida and Akak, Kane ran to Samuels's side. They were waiting for Helen to close off the current passage. It would be difficult and risky for them to fight the knights for too long. All agreed this would be the smartest move.
Kane ran toward the nearest knight and carefully slid past the man's incoming attack. Then he lifted his two daggers into that air before turning them toward the opening between the chest plate and helmet. His blades like hawks, found their target and swiftly put the knight down to eternal rest. Akak was right on Kane's heels and parried a different knight's attack that was headed right toward Kane. The knight lost his balance which gave Ida the perfect chance to swing her axe down onto the knight, knocking him down onto the ground and killing him.
"They really seem to have brought their entire army" commented Samuel as he and the rest of the group started to slowly retreat further into the manor.
"I'm ready!" Helen's hair was billowing and strong gust was felt by everyone in the surroundings. Around 12 blades made out of pure wind had appeared around Helen.
Kane grew excited to see a spell in action. He saw Helen use a bit of magic at the begging of the battle but her wind blade then wasn't as powerful and she only casted one at a time. Seems this long chant was worth it.
"FWOOOSH!"
The blades cut threw the knights as if a scythe was cutting threw wheat. Kane marveled at the skill and vowed he would learn more magic in the future.
"Now's our chance! Let's retreat back inside!" yelled Samuel. Just in time too as despite Helen's spell more knights seemed to be appearing.
The group headed deeper into the manner hoping that some of the groups fared better than theirs. Kane was deciding on what he should do if things get worse while also impressed by how many warriors the White Sparrow Kingdom had. They would truly be useful to him as long as he makes sure not to screw anything up in this battle.
"Over there!" said Ida.
Kane didn't have a chance to be relieved at the sight of ally troops because, in front of them, the only living ally was Captain Jevis who was kneeling on the floor. There were others but all seemed to be lying lifelessly on the marbled floor.
"Captain Jervis!" called Samuel who began to run faster towards the captain. Ida and Helen tailed closely. Kane sensed danger through his battle sense and slowed his pace. Akak saw this and slowed himself as well as Asice.
Samuel didn't even look back and see this instead the man seemed to be worried about the wounded captain. In fact, the emotions running around his soul seemed to cloud and sane judgment. Helen and Ida seemed to trust Samuel that their experience was blinded by their caring and loyalty.
"Swish!" "Plop!"
Samuels's head flew away from his body as if it had just been shot out of a cannon. Helen's face looked on in horror at her friend's lifeless body. Ida tensed and quickly realized that they had made a rookie mistake. They had walked into a trap.
IMPORTANT INFO?
(Sorry for being gone and I know I said it before but I've been very busy. Also, the illness I had kept accruing since I think I got several colds and bugs so it was unlucky for me. Also, I went to Peru for vacation. Now I am back for good. I promise to write more.
Also, I want to clear up a few things and talk about stuff that should probably be mentioned. For one as you guys know I introduced Battle arts into the story. Well, I realized it may be confusing because due to being an inexperienced writer I had previously added weapon arts for Kane like the one for his lance. Well, I think I'll just come up with a reason now haha. Weapon arts are less powerful than battle arts as they don't use battle energy which is what makes battle arts so powerful. (Not sure if I should keep weapon arts as I have not really mentioned them in the story properly and I can just add them to the list of things I need to fix with older chapters) I will go more in-depth with the arts later. Also, battle arts can be for weapons, body improvement, magic, and more. As we have seen it's more versatile. I may change that as we have shown a battle art in the story where the character used magic and it may be better to separate her into a specific battle master that uses magic arts. We can have two kinds of battle art then but actually, as I write this I don't think it will work due to Kane kinda having a magic battle art now. Also, I should probably go over the magic system currently. Kane got a lost magic from the system shop which is not too expensive. His magic is kinda like weak fire bending and he has no spells and can really just control the fire so it moves and burns. Most normal people on the continent learn magic kinda like battle arts where they need a teacher or tome and that magic has specific spells. Some people are better than others because they have an affinity for magic. Also, some groups have other magic as we see with Asice. Her magic hasn't been shown yet but is different since the dessert tribes have an ancient form of magic. Other groups may have this in the future. Sorry for this info dump and me just trying to figure things out but I hope it helps and please let me know if you have any suggestions. All help is welcome and appreciated.)
(Ok sorry for more of these but this was written a few days after the rest. I want to say I am sorry again haha. This chapter should have come out much sooner but sadly someone close to me has passed on and I was dealing with that. It hit me hard and I needed time to process but now I am back and promise to start writing more regularly. Also just thought I would add that I will be making sure to start using the system more as I have not been using it much since my return a while back. Also when I first started this story I had the MC level up and kinda forgot to keep up that. I am going to bring it back and let's just say he levels up to 30. I know that's lazy but I was not sure where I should have left off. Perhaps he has been this entire time but the rewards were not much so it was not mentioned. Does that work? Hopefully. Also going to make sure he completes more quests. He needs some more rewards! Sorry for everything again and I'll make sure things get better I promise. I am still practicing writing so bear with me. Much love guys.)
Sorry for all of that guys but I thought it was important. Thanks for all the support and please feel free to comment and review the book if you like it or have any suggestions. Feedback is also useful. Much love.
