Chapter 29: Extermination

The air in the underground mines was cold and damp, and Valeron awoke with a throbbing headache. His surroundings were shrouded in darkness, and the events leading up to this moment came back to him in fragments. He had been captured by the Razortooth Mercenary Squad, and now he was their prisoner.

As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, Valeron could make out the silhouette of a man approaching him. It was their leader, Raymond, a grizzled and scarred figure who reveled in his triumph. Raymond's malicious grin was unmistakable even in the low light.

"Well, well, well," Raymond taunted, his voice dripping with smugness. "It seems we've caught ourselves a little fish from Clan Abyss. You nobles are always so full of surprises."

Valeron struggled against his restraints, but they held fast. He had to buy time until Tristan arrived. He couldn't let Raymond know that he was expecting help.
