Chapter 33: Bootlicking

He was asked to do this so he had no other choice. Besides, if he was the referee, then he thought that he could save his cousin in a critical moment.

"Are you both ready?" Wang Jhiayi said.

The two looked at each other and then they nodded. Wang Tian didn't attack first but he initiated a fighting stance. Peak Master Zhou Weiqing is a Swordsman so he's much more proficient in fighting with swords or with a weapon. Unfortunately, Wang Tian didn't bring out a weapon. It would be a disgrace for him to bring out a weapon when his opponent was infinitely weaker than him and was bare handed. However, he was still a Zifu Realm expert by the end of the day.

The two looked at each other as they moved in circles. Wang Tian took him a bit seriously since he didn't want to look too arrogant. He also didn't want to embarrass the Peak Master too much as it would prove to be not beneficial for him.

However, Wang Tian's prowess was something that people could only see in the legends. If Wang Tian beat the Peak Master easily, then people might want to investigate him causing unnecessary trouble. If he got defeated too easily then he would be doomed to die. He needed to beat the Peak Master using his wits since he obviously shouldn't use his cultivation to do so. It was not wise to reveal one's true power at the start of the game. Wang Tian decided on what he had to do and so he attacked. Wang Tian hardened his skin into that of bronze and then started to issue punches towards the Peak Master. Zhou Weiqing would easily dodge all of them. He backflipped to a retreat and then when he landed, he infused his feet with his Qi so that he could attack Wang Tian in an instant. A seed of fear was planted in Zhou Weiqing's eyes before, when he saw Song Zhigao get killed. He knew better than to underestimate an enemy that could make a number of people kneel with just a glare.

Wang Tian saw what Song Zhigao did and he copied it. He faced Zhou Weiqing head on in a clash. The two were approaching each other in a very fast pace. Just when they were about to clash, Zhou Weiqing disappeared and then he reappeared behind Wang Tian. Wang Tian's pupils constricted and he felt a bit shocked. He only felt a sharp pain in his back. Zhou Weiqing punched Wang Tian thirty times successively in the back. Cracking the bronze skin. The power that Zhou Weiqing exerted wasn't nearly enough to make him cry in pain. But he needed to act like it did since it was very strange for a Houtian Lifeform to be unscathed when they're attacked by a Zifu Realm Expert.

Wang Tian's body arched like a bow and then he yelled in pain. He spun a couple of meters and then finally he stabilized.

Wang Tian tried to do a couple of stretches momentarily later. Zhou Weiqing used this time and saw it as an opportunity. He rushed towards Wang Tian again and then prepared to throw a punch. Wang Tian finally took out a weapon.

Seeing that Wang Tian took out a weapon, the Peak Master smiled.

' A battle using weapons? Do you want to be defeated that much?' the Peak Master couldn't help but smile.

"Why is the Peak Master smiling?" one of the disciples in the crowd said.

A disciple that was knowledgeable replied, "Don't you know? Peak Master is a swordsman. Rumors say that he's at the peak of half completion realm. Only a step away from forming a Sword Intent."

Peak Master Zhou flicked his hand and then a sword appeared. This sword was a high grade earth weapon made out of platinum. But the sword was color black. The sword might not be on par with any sword that Wang Tian has but it was a priceless treasure in the eyes of the crowd. What a joke! If it were that easy to get a sage weapon then everybody would have it!

This sword has accompanied Zhou Weiqing since he was a Houtian Lifeform. A sword given to him by his father as a gift. It was called, "Swift Disaster Sword" and the Master, Zhou Weiqing is titled as the

"Swift Disaster Master"

Long ago, Zhou Weiqing used this sword to protect the sect from invaders. Every movement that he made, was swift but powerful. It spelled disaster for the opposing party. Being proficient in a weapon isn't decided by the cultivation base. For example, a Houtian Lifeform who's level two or level three, has the possibility of reaching the full completion realm or even the legendary perfect completion realm as long as they were determined. But of course, luck is also a discerning factor. If luck isn't by your side, then no matter how much you try, you won't be able to gain enlightenment or gain an epiphany on something that you're training in.

Zhou Weiqing charged towards Wang Tian while Wang Tian grasped the dagger and prepared himself to defend.

"Clang!" The sound of metals crashing reverberated through the air. The crowd cheered. Screams and yells occupied the sky like a roar of a lion.

The scene that they saw next stupefied them.

"Impossible!" One of the elders in the crowd that was watching blurted out.

"How can this be? A Houtian Lifeform being able to defend against a Zifu realm expert??!" That elder said.

Yes! Wang Tian has successfully defended against the Peak Master's attack with much effort. Well, to the spectators that is. In reality, this was no big deal to Wang Tian. Not including his invincibility, with just his status as a Xiantian lifeform coupled with his bloodline, he can easily defend against a Wanxiang Adept expert. Much less a Zifu Realm. However, Wang Tian did not show that he wasn't having a hard time and instead, he was gritting his teeth and holding the dagger very tightly.

Zhou Weiqing was also surprised by this.

'Has the world gone mad?' he thought to himself.

'Is it really this easy to jump realms and battle those with higher cultivation than you?'

Wang Tian shouted and then he broke away from that situation. From the start until now, Wang Tian's acting was brilliant! Even the Peak Master, his opponent, didn't see through it.

Wang Tian infused his feet with qi and then jumped to gain distance. He landed ten feet away. Zhou Weiqing looked at him very warily but he was thinking that this was already in the bag. His confidence was boosted by the fact that Wang Tian retreated.

What Wang Tian did next surprised the crowd including Zhou Weiqing. Wang Tian licked the dagger.

"What the hell is he up to?" the crowd all mused to themselves.

Wang Tian charged towards Zhou Weiqing. Zhou Weiqing thought that Wang Tian was just provoking him thus, he also charged straight towards Wang Tian. In the blink of an eye, they were already in front of each other. Wang Tian slashed down with his dagger towards Zhou Weiqing. The Peak Master was really skilled in using the sword and his footwork was off the charts as he casually danced around and blocked Wang Tian's dagger in the arena while Wang Tian just kept on swinging at him. This went on for about a few more minutes.

The crowd were full of admiration towards Zhou Weiqing's exceptional skill and footwork.

"The Peak Master is awesome!"

"He is so powerful!"

"Go! Peak Master!"

While others were admiring Zhou Weiqing's abilities, some were jeering and laughing at Wang Tian's misfortune.

"Wang Tian just give up you're already defeated!"

"Yeah! You should have thought more of your actions back then!"

"You shouldn't have killed Brother Song!"

"Wang Tian stop embarrassing yourself come on!"

"Ha! Challenging the Peak Master is equivalent to digging up your own grave."

"Fool!"

Wang Tian didn't bother on replying to them nor even bothering to look at them. Wang Tian was very serious right now as there was no room for error in his movements. If he acted more skilled than what he had previously shown, the Peak Master might get suspicious. The crowd might get suspicious. Hence, they will surely cause him unnecessary trouble when he exits the Battle Arena.

Wang Jhiayi was currently off the stage. He was the only one cheering for Wang Tian.

"Go Cousin Tian! You can do it!" Wang Jhiayi screamed his lungs out.

Wang Tian heard this and he smiled. He felt warmth arose inside his chest.

'Okay time to end this' he thought to himself.

Wang Tian slashed down towards the Peak Master.

'This move again? You have repeated this move for more than a dozen times already. I have already got you figured out.' Zhou Weiqing thought to himself.

It was only logical that he thought this way since from the very beginning, a Houtian Lifeform challenging a Zifu realm expert was nothing more than a one sided match. Although Wang Tian has shocked him for more than once, he was still a Peak Master, a Zifu realm expert. He refused to believe that he will be defeated by a Houtian Lifeform. His head got bigger and bigger as well as his confidence. Little did he know that he was falling right under Wang Tian's trap.

When Wang Tian slashed down, the Peak Master evaded it using his footwork. However at the same time, Wang Tian smashed down with his foot that was infused with his qi. The ground fifteen meters away from him all crumbled and. This set off Zhou Weiqing's balance as he did not expect Wang Tian to do this.

Wang Tian's eyes flashed. He infused his feet with more of his qi and then his speed insantly multiplied a few more times. In the blink of an eye, he and the Peak Master were only 2 inches apart. Things happened too fast. Zhou Weiqing didn't have time to react. But he didn't panic. He raised his sword to defend against Wang Tian's dagger.

'What skill!' Wang Tian praised.

Unfortunately for Zhou Weiqing, he was tad bit too slow as the dagger managed to graze his shoulder by just a tiny bit.

Wang Tian and Zhou Weiqing immediately separated and made some space between the two of them.

"You're more skilled than I thought Wang Tian! Unfortunately for you, I've had enou-" just when he was about to finish what he was saying, he lost control over his body. He couldn't move!

'What is this?! Why can't I move?!' Zhou Weiqing thought to himself. He looked at Wang Tian and saw Wang Tian smiling back at him.

The crowd was in an uproar.

"What just happened???"

"Why isn't the Peak Master moving?"

"Hey Peak Master! Quit playing around and show this fool who's the boss!" Obviously, the people who were jeering at Wang Tian found what Zhou Weiqing was doing to be completely unpleasing to the eye.

Move will you! You're gonna be defeated if you don't!

Five hundred meters from the Battle Arena, the Council Judges were watching the battle unfold. During the duration of the fight, their expression's changed many times, with the exception of the seventh figure.

"Old fifth! What did that kid do?" Old first asked Old Fifth.

"I don't know. He may have employed a restriction spell." Old Fifth replied. Looking at the battlefield with wide eyes.

"Did this brat cheat?! Quickly we must apprehend him!" Old Sixth cried out.

"Impossible! How can he even defend against a Zifu Realm expert!?" Old Third also said.

"Calm yourselves. Just watch." The seventh figure's sweet voice echoed through their ears.

Naturally, Wang Tian did not know that he was very close to being apprehended on the spot. He walked closer towards Zhou Weiqing and said,

"I'm sorry Peak Master but you let your guard down." Wang Tian said with a smile.

He raised the dagger towards Zhou Weiqing's throat and said coolly,

"Do you admit defeat?"

Zhou Weiqing struggled to move but he found that it was useless. Left with no other choice, he looked at Wang Tian. He couldn't speak but Wang Tian already knew the answer. Wang Tian released Zhou Weiqing from the restriction. In an instant, Zhou Weiqing could move again.
