Ame looked around as they walked through the house. "Your house sure has a lot of rooms."

"My dad built it." Cy's eyes clouded over. "My parents originally wanted a big family..."

Cole looked at her out of the corner of his eye. "If there's so much space, why did you seem to refuse to return home?"

A pause.

"Did Maggie tell you about that?" Cyan finally asked.

He nodded, gesturing toward Ame. "When we were on our way out. The day we left her house."

She sighed. "Guess the cat's finally out of the bag..."

Alastair pointed to himself.

Cyan laughed nervously. "Not you."

They entered a spacious room with a large bed and two nightstands.

"My sister's surgeries have taken a toll on our parents' finances, so I thought I would help them by striking it out on my own. Sadly, it's turned out more difficult than I expected."
