Did you? or Did you not?

The crowd was fascinated by this shocking revelation. The neighborhood knew Luca as someone that threw his weight around suppressing others.

They never knew he had such an interesting wife. hehehe!

"Did you? or did you not?" The woman asked yet again her face looking graver at each passing second.

She knew her husband was flamboyant, ostentatious and overbearing but she chose to ignore it as long as he didn't go too far. This...this was unacceptable.

"I told you to leave Kahlan's room rent free did I not? I asked you, and you said she doesn't pay rent anymore. Yet, you dared to ask for rent and even throw her out. Are you forgetting the owner of this building?!"

The woman was exuding a violent aura, making Luca weak in the knees. "Wife... calm down alright?! I will explain"

"Shut your mouth! What do you want to explain, the evidence is right here, you beast" Luca jumped in fright, he really wanted to run now.

Mia and Marcello were stunned while Kahlan was stupefied at Luca's wife former words. The word 'rent free' rang in Kahlan's ears over and over again.

"Ma, did you say rent free? Kahlan has been paying the rent for months now. Days before the rent expires, your husband comes running to Kahlan's door to ask for the rent. If you would ask me, I don't think Luca wanted just the money, since you had obviously told him not to take rent from her"

Mia was hinting at something, she let the imagination of the crowd surrounding them and the woman's run wild with her tactful words.

As expected the woman blew up. Kahlan was a little displeased at Mia. No matter what, they are still a couple. You shouldn't try to break them apart. Her Grandma taught her this.

Marcello praised the crafty Mia in his heart. Luca deserved exactly what he got coming, this man was indeed a terrible person. He will never forgive anyone that has wanton desires about his Kahlan. He wasn't a prude, he understood what the b*stard wanted.

Mia was pleased with herself clearly ignoring the pleading looks from Luca. She was determined to make him suffer for all the injustice Kahlan has suffered because of him.

Thankfully, the heavens were helping her. Hah!

The woman took a deep breath trying hard to control herself from punching her husband. She would be foolish if she didn't understand the hidden meaning in Mia's words.

Other might not know but she clearly knew how much she supported her husband and the fact that he had everything at his disposal. A miserly amount of rent from Kahlan was nothing compared to all she owned managed by him.

She wouldn't be exaggerating if she said that amount was nothing to them. Why?!

"Oh, I even heard so many girls in this building don't pay their rent" Mia said aloud clicking her tongue as if she was afraid people wouldn't hear her. "What a shame!"

"Mia! Stop now please" screamed Kahlan who has been quiet all along.

Mia ignored her and crossed her arms, waiting to watch a good show. The crowd was mumbling among themselves, looking at Luca in disdain pleasing Mia the more. They really despised Luca from the bottom of their hearts.

Without notice a red shoe flew from the woman's side and hit Luca in the face knocking him down.

Luca shouted in pain and almost ran mad when he saw the blood on his hands.

"You ungrateful b*stard! How dare you! I should have listened to dad when he told me not to marry you. You are nothing but a thorn in my flesh. I picked you up from the slums! Clothed you! Fed you! Made you the proud Luca you are today yet this is how you repay me?!" Shrieked the woman in anger.

She knew Luca was cheating, she caught his mistresses sometimes but she just yells and lets the matter die.

But this was too much, there were roughly thirty girls in that building! Imagine sleeping with almost half them.
