Chapter 92 New Home.

The first look on the system that they were about to colonize revealed that a great battle took place in this place as the remains of the ships still drifted all over the system and they would have to be cleared out.

-Do you really think that we will be safe here?

Mikael asked when he saw the remains.

-Yes.Our scouts revealed that in the three thousand light years radius there is no inhabited planet.

We would have scouted more but we had to return to earth.

I wanted to propose to the council that we should build a colony here but after what happened to The Terran space this is the best place i could think of.

We are tens of thousands of lightyears away from the federation and the technology here is at least hundreds years ahead of our own.

Simon explained the reasons that made him decide to bring the remnants of humanity and the lizardmen to this place. 

-You know,this graveyard doesn't look like a great place to restart our civilization.

Monica Sanders said with mixed feelings.

On one hand she was happy that they survived and had a chance to rebuild but on the other hand she wasn't too sure about taking someone's capital world for themselves even if they were a part of the Confederation long ago.

-You worry too much Monica.

Like I said there is no one around here and we were originally a part of the confederation so it's perfectly fine for us to return home.

Simon said with a resigned look on his face.

They had similar discussions all the way from their part of the galaxy to here.

In the end this was their new home and now they had to rebuild the infrastructure on the planet so that they could live there.

The good thing was that Ptah could not only build ships but also drones and droids to help with the reconstruction.

Finding a place to stay was a bit of a challenge as the planet was four times bigger than earth and had many cities and towns that were in relatively good condition.

The decision was made to spread a little but to generally stay in the same area.

Everyone decided that the best place to stay would be near an ocean and a river so that they would have a source of drinking water and food.

On their first visit,Simon learned that the planet had an abundance of flora and fauna and even better, many of the plants and creatures were edible.

They didn't try any of it so they don't know what kind of taste it would have but some food is better than none and in the worst case scenario they could always produce more of the protein bars.

Humans brought many seeds and some embryos from Earth but that would be used on a different planet.

One that was totally devoid of life and there was no chance of them destroying an ecosystem by introducing their own plants and animals.

That world would become their food basket in the future as for now it had too little oxygen in its atmosphere and to much CO2

This was easy to solve as some of the plants that they brought with them were genetically engineered specifically to aid in the terraformation of planets similar to the one they chose for their food production.

It would take some time but they would improve the atmosphere to the point that would allow them to raise crops and farm animals.

For now the ship that was loaded with the seeds jumped to the planet and landed on its surface to unload the seeds and the equipment that would allow them to monitor the progress of terraformation.

They also left hundreds of drones and droids along with a few dozens of solar powered charging stations.

In the meantime the rest of the new settlers were working on rebuilding the infrastructure in a few small towns that they decided to use as their new homes.

They started with the power grid and water distribution which was easy to fix with the help from the A.I.

Then they started to rebuild the houses which took much longer but by the end of the month everyone had a home.

Soldiers went to the nearby space port that had a military base right next to it and brought both facilities back online within a few days.

Not everyone decided to live on the planet as there had to be someone that was in space to have an eye on the surrounding area.

Simon and his friends decided to rebuild a space station that was full of holes.

Ptah informed them that if they manage to get enough power to the self repair system then it would work just like The Abydos and started repairing itself.

In the end they just connected the station to the Thanatos which provided power and they used a cable to connect straight to the command center and the repair systems.

Of Course they had to use the Adapter plates since the Confederation did not use cables. 

When the command center was finally online the damage control showed all the damaged areas and it was a miracle that this station was still in one piece.

The Self repair system got back online shortly after the command center and the nanites started to repair the station using materials from the destroyed ships outside.

The time to fully rebuild the station was estimated at three weeks.

That place wasn't only the station but also a spaceport big enough to accommodate the new Thanatos along with a few dozen of the ships that size.

There were many tasks to complete and everyone was busy all the time.

There were even some ships sent to find more of the shipyards similar to Abydos but mostly the scouts were sent to find them and assess the situation.

Sadly they found only two shipyards that were salvageable,the rest of them were either just blown to bits or damaged so badly that it would be easier to build a new one than to repair all the damage on the ones they found.

At the same time Ptah was busy repairing and refitting the ships around the planet.

There were hundreds of ships that could be repaired and the materials from the rest could be used to build thousands more.

Simon decided that they would not repeat the same mistakes,so he wanted as many ships ready for combat as they could have in case someone showed up looking for trouble.

The planet also was getting armed with a new array of satellites and surface to space weapons not to mention all the hidden gun and rocket emplacements all over the system.

The Icing on that cake was a new sensor network that spanned all the neighboring systems and the space between them so that there would be no blind spots. 

It took them months of hard work to get this all done but they had the time and this time they wanted to be sure that they were safe and that the children who were saved and the ones on their way wouldn't need to be afraid of anything.

As for the new generation of humanity,it would take some time but there were enough people to ensure the continuation of the human race.

To increase the population even further,it was decided that everyone over the age of thirty would get rejuvenated which meant that over 70% of the surviving humans would become young again.

Some of the women were infertile but the upgraded regeneration tanks and nanites solved that problem really fast,making them able to become mothers which made all of them very happy.

Now after most of the work was done and everything was going smoothly,there was a boom of pregnancies.

The thing that promoted having children even more was the fact that the new regeneration tanks could be used to give birth without any pain and making sure that both mother and child were healthy.

The tanks could also remove all defects that the child could have after it was born so even if the child had some genetic problems or deformities,it took at most a week for the tank to correct them and the result was a perfectly healthy child that was another Human added to their species.

Of course there was also the help of the droids and A.I's in raising children.

The droids were great nannies and could take care of the children when the adults had something to do or just wanted some alone time.

The A.I.took over the education as they could teach more and faster than human teachers.

It may take a long time to rebuild the human race to what it once was but the first steps were already taken and each step brought them closer to their revenge as there was no human that was alive that didn't want to see their enemies destroyed.
