Julie Lawson sipped her creamy coffee at her desk, and typed some words on her computer. She adjusted her medicated glasses that gives her a nerdy look. She frowned at something that popped up on the monitor. Julie sighed and packed her long, blonde, hair into a ponytail.
Today seemed to be going more slowly than usual, Being a member of Maxdom Designs was a bit boring to her. But it payed better than her previous jobs. It also requires more time on the computer and less human interaction, which is how she likes it, Cause she has been an introvert all her life.
She has been working at photo and print department for the past six months while schooling and trying to complete her college_courses online. She was a bit anti_social and life taught her all she needed to know.
"Hey Julie can you make hundred copies of this for me?"
Richard, her fellow intern said as he walked towards her desk. She remained silent and continued typing on her computer as if no one spoke to her.
"A hundred Files?"
She wondered, Richard ignored her silence and continued speaking.
"Thanks, I'm glad you're reliable and hard-working."
He says and walks away.
"Sure." She mumbled with a sigh .
Though Julie and Richard were at the same level and department in the company, he still feels higher than her and acts like she's below him, because his brother owns the company .
But Julie rarely sees him, she mostly sees Mrs Dina, the manager of Maxdom Designs.
Julie studied computer science in the university and she graduated with a first class. presently, her second goal is to get a degree in Nursing.
She has been studying medical courses for the past six months, So she can become a certified nurse and open a Care centre for children and pregnant Women. Which is the main reason she moved from Texas to New York after getting united with her boyfriend Josiah.
Julie puts down her cup of coffee on the table and reached for the new file Richard dropped on her desk, So she could make more copies as instructed. She had to partly stand up from her seat to reach the end of her table, where it was placed.
As she tried to do so, She miscalculated where she would normally put her mug Without looking, she attempted to keep her cup on the table but ended up dropping the half full mug on the floor, it broke into pieces splashing coffee Everywhere.
The quick sound made a few heads turn to see what broke.
"Shit!" Julie exclaimed in annoyance, She sighed after the mug fell on the white carpet. Coffee splashed on her black heels and purple skirt. Luckily, the coffee was already cold.
As soon as it happened, she quickly opened her desk drawer, searching through various items, She grabbed a handful of paper towels and a small napkin, using them one by one to clean spilled coffee off her legs, skirt and the carpet. But it was too late, There was brown stain on her Skirt. She tried to clean it off, but it didn't work.
Almost everyone in the room stared at her, Some rolled their eyes, Some laughed, Others shook their head.
After few seconds, they ignored her and continued in their various activities. Some were printing, while others were typing.
It was a public Office with many sections. Hers, was in the middle of the Office and exposed to public view and she didn't like it, She preferred to have a private office.
Julie picked the broken pieces of the mug and threw it into a waste bin .
"What a mess I've created."
She whispered to herself, while arranging her scattered desk,
Richard came to collect the files, he gave to her, expecting her to be done with what he asked in just a few minutes.
He walked up to her and said.
"Oh, you spilled your coffee? So sad."
He says without sympathy or concern.
"Why do you have to be this clumsy on a Monday morning?"
He asked as he collected one of the files on her desk. He was so annoying but good looking.
Julie frowned, she looked at him, her eyes, glaring with anger. He ignored her facial expression and asked.
" Are you done with the papers? "
She remained silent.
"Did you duplicate these files?"
He asked her.
"No I haven't." She sharply and rudely replied.
To her, Richard was the most annoying slash charming man on the planet.
"All right, take your time."
He says in a polite and friendly tone, aware of the hard task he gave her.
"I'll be upstairs if you need me."
He says and walks away.
Julie ignored him, She didn't say a word to him. When she was done clearing her desk, she threw the wet paper towels into the trash bin at the corner of her office.
Julie is the sort of person, you would describe as a typical good girl and a very intelligent one at that. She is also a very dedicated staff of Maxdom Designs She is a very hard-working employee, Who gives her best to every assignment placed under her authority.
In other terms, She is a workaholic, A career driven Lady with Zero Social Life.
Julie is the sort of person who would rather work all night and sleep off reading a Romance Novel or watch an Action comedy movie, than partying or hanging out with friends. She barely had any friend. Her only friend is Zara who is a lawyer, And they have been friends since high school. Their hobbies includes Cooking, Eating, and Painting. Which is evident in Julie's appearance, She is a tall and chubby lady who loves to cook, read novels, and watch movies.
And she is grateful to her parents for enrolling her in culinary school, she is more thankful to her boyfriend Josiah, for being the best man any woman could ask for.
Julie held her small, black, bag and went to the restroom to change into new clothes, There, she met Miss Balvin, A fourty year old beautiful yet unmarried woman, who works as a janitor. She had been working at Maxdom Designs for five years.
Julie has been told by her colleges that Miss Balvin is four weeks pregnant and engaged. Which could be true or just a rumour.
Either ways, She didn't believe it, Untill she saw a bump on Balvin's stomach and a gold ring on her finger.
Miss Balvin is a short, Chubby and grumpy African American woman, who seems to have a permanent frown on her face. And she doesn't care about anyone or anything.
Julie parked her curly, blonde, hair into a tight, big, bun. She pulled and kept her purple skirt in her bag.
After removing her heels she took out a black, skirt from her bag and wore it. Miss Balvin's had just finished cleaning the toilet, she walked out of restroom, while holding a bucket of soapy water and Mop. She didn't turn to look at Julie, or what she was doing. She just silently left. Cause she was the quiet, cleaning, lady that knows everyone's secret .
Julie looked at her reflection in the mirror, her face, ever free from any form of makeup except red shade of lipstick. Her hair, was a bit rough, her white shirt, a bit squeezed, her sky blue eyes, a bit smaller, which must be as a result of stress. She smiled a bit, while starting at the image in front of her, at least now, she no longer smelled like stale coffee.
With a sigh, She says to herself.
"Just another boring work day."
After washing her hands, Julie held her black, bag and hurried back to the office, The hall seemed Fuller, no one stared at her When she came back, Cause they were too busy with customers. She sat down and reluctantly grabbed the file Richard cursed her with.
As she was about to turn on the printing machine that was on top of her wide, desk, she heard someone from behind say.
"Hey Julie."
Paul called out from from his cubicle next to hers. He peeped through an open space, more like a circular window, because employees were not allowed to talk to each other during work hours.
Julie turned to see the owner of the voice, She saw Paul, He appeared taller than the long, thin, wall that separated their offices.
Paul spoke to her with a broad smile on his face. He took off his glasses. His facial hair, A mustache and a full jaw beard, which made him look like a professor, his hair, brown and curly, His eyes, dark green. And he sometimes acts like a Nerdy, Play boy.
"Do you wanna print?"
Paul asked Julie.
"Yes." She replied casually and strictly as if she wasn't admiring his pretty face a while ago.
Paul looked like every Disney's Prince charming put together, except that he wore suits and glasses .
"The Copy machine on your desk is broken and every other printing device in this room is being used."
He informs Julie.
"Really? But it was working fine yesterday." She argues.
"Untill now, it's faulty, I tried using it but it refused to work, I'm gonna tell Miss Dina, so she'll call a Technician."
Paul was a slow, calm, talker with a relaxing voice, his eye contact and smile makes him attractive. He is known as the nice and charming photographer of Maxdom Designs.
"You're gonna have to go downstairs and use the printing machine there."
He advised her.
"Thanks"
Julie responds with a faint smile on her face.
He smirked and asked.
"How many copies do you wanna make?"
"Hundred" She responded.
"Okay, I would like to assist you but I'm kinda busy, editing some pictures"
He says in a tone of concern.
"All right, I'll go downstairs"
She says as she grabs the file and goes to the elevator.
Paul sat down to continue his work, while Julie was on her way to the third floor. When she arrived, She entered a store room, typed and clicked an instruction into the computer and with the help of a printer she finally printed hundred copies of the file . She packed the papers into a big, brown, box. The papers were much and the box was heavy.
