[I am not confident about defeating the Abyss Medusa with the strength I have left. Furthermore, there is still that Lizard.] Ji Min noted.

[Yes, Young Lord; and even if you manage to kill the remaining two, you might not have enough strength left to escape from the ones lurking in the shadows and waiting for an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.]

Sensei added as Ji Min frowned; he could also sense the presence of these lurking shadows, and while most of them were in the early levels, two of these beasts seemed to be at the Peak of Qi Gathering stage instead.

[I think I need to get rid of the Lizard first and try to squeeze out some juice from that serpent.]

[That's a good idea, Young Lord. But what will happen if you can't get some juice out of that serpent?]

It wasn't that Sensei didn't believe in Ji Min or that his plans were flawed; he just wanted to be sure that Ji Min had thought his plan through and was prepared for the worst-case scenario.

[Well, I will cross that bridge once we get there. Moreover, as long as that Lizard is out of the picture, I don't think the serpent can stop me if I want to flee.] Ji Min added as he set his sights on the two beasts that had converged in front of him.

[I think you should learn some of the Legacy martial arts once you're done with this training; if you had comprehended one or two of them, then these beasts would be no match for you.]

Sensei added as Ji Min nodded in agreement; despite knowing some martial arts from his previous life, they were particularly useless in this cultivation world where experts could shoot flames and use weapons with godlike powers.

Furthermore, he was fighting beasts with cultivation and abilities barehanded; it was already a miracle that he could last up to this point.

'Only if I had a weapon.'

Ji Min lamented to himself, but he also knew this was not the time for regrets because should he get slightly distracted here, there exists a strong possibility that he might lose his life.

The other two beasts were no match for him; he had shown that with how he had brutally slaughtered the rodent and the gecko earlier, but despite that, they were also a good source of nuisance and were capable of creating an opening for the serpent that was of the same level as he was, with considerable battle experience as a beast of the demon continent.

Hiss! Roar!

Ji Min was instantly alerted by the roar and hiss of the two beasts opposing him as he prepared for what was coming.

The serpent's body gradually turned black from its previous grey color as it bolted into the bush, melding with the shadows and escaping Ji Min's senses.

[Be careful; this serpent is an abyss medusa, and they're especially adept at sneak attacks.]

Sensei warned as Ji Min bolted toward the Lizard, approaching it with a balled fist in one hand and rolling out the chain in the other.

Having experienced the potential dangers of Ji Min's attacks and how sneaky he used the rolled-out chains on his left hand, the Lizard suddenly changed its strategy as it spat a stream of thick searing hot flames on the ground.

It then entered the sea of flames and shrouded itself from Ji Min's view.

[Sensei?]

[I do not know Young Lord; it is either preparing to use its unique ability or simply making it harder for you to pinpoint its exact location.]

Sensei deduced as Ji Min threw all caution into the air and dashed into the sea of flames, ready to pound the living daylight out of the Lizard.

Ji Min knew he could not stay within the pool of flames for too long, and because he could barely see through the fire and lock onto the Lizard's position, he preemptively predicted where the Lizard might be based on its size and the area the flames covered.

Intending to punch the Lizard out of the pool of flames and then give it the beating of its life, Ji Min pushed his body as fast as it could endure, but upon barging into the fire, his fist hit nothing but thin air, instantly, he knew something was wrong.

Using the momentum of his barge, Ji Min quickly exited the sea of flames before turning around to check what had gone wrong.

Then the flames began to gradually recede as if it was being devoured rapidly by something within it, and by the time they went out, all that was left in Ji Min's sight was nothing but the scorched ground and a lizard the size of his arm.

[Sensei, what's happening?]

Since he had no idea about the abilities of the beasts residing within the demon continent and had little to no experience fighting them, Ji Min hurriedly asked Sensei for an explanation.

[It seems this Lizard has decided to use its unique ability and go all out against you.

Be careful Young Lord, do not be deceived by its appearance; some beasts experience a sharp rise in strength once they shrink in size.]

Sensei advised as Ji Min quickly scrutinized the Lizard in front of him.

Not only had the Lizard shrunk in size, but its scales were also gleaming like a newly forged armor, and its muscles looked very concentrated and seemed like they packed more strength than when it was bigger.

The flames blazing in its eyes revealed that it was enraged, and its posture and growl also signified that it was on the prowl and ready to tear apart its opponent.

Then without any warning whatsoever, the Lizard suddenly blurred from Ji Min's sight;

'Shit! It's fast!'

Ji Min cursed as the Lizard displayed a level of speed that he could barely catch on.

All of a sudden, the hair on the back of Ji Min's neck stood on end as he quickly turned around and crossed his arms in front of his face and chest;

Clang!

Ji Min felt a level of force slightly more significant than the one behind his punch slam into him.

He skidded across the ground like a surfer riding a powerful wave as the chain he wrapped around his arms clattered like they had been tied to a rampaging beast; with each rattle, he felt his bones vibrate to the extent that it felt like they might shatter if they faced another impact of such level.

Upon looking at the figure that just attacked him, Ji Min realized that it was the Abyss Medusa, and oddly, there was familiar about its appearance as well.
