She was all dressed before her alarm even rang. She was going crazy from just lying down and worrying her brains out. She opened her door a crack to steal a peek. She saw Adrian standing by the window and looking out into the street. He was really serious about protecting her she thought. Adrian on the other had given up trying to sleep and stayed awake all night looking out to be sure there was no pack of wolves sneaking up on them. She opened the door fully and stepped in to the living room. He turned to look at her. He noticed she was already dressed.

'morning' he said.

'morning' she mumbled. How could he look so good this early in the morning she thought. She did not have an appetite and so she just grabbed a can of milk from the fridge and poured herself a glass.

' you hungry ?' she asked looking at him from under her eye lashes.

' you can have whatever you like, i..... she stopped as though a thought just popped into her head. ' oh sorry i forgot. you probably don't eat normal food. i don't have any blood bag lying around somewhere and you can't go biting people'

He suddenly burst out laughing. She looked at him confused. Did she say something funny.

' you're cute' he said and he meant it. She looked away and blushed slightly.

' i'll have whatever you give me' he said.

'ok'

He walked over to her, the only thing separating them being the kitchen counter. The air suddenly felt hot for her.

' so did you spot any wolves outside ?'

' no i did not'

'do you think its safe for me to go out'

' its not. But if you really must, ill accompany you. Its my job to make sure that you are safe'

Now it was her turn to laugh and his turn to look confused.

' so i am just going to stop living normally like i have been doing before just because of something that happened before i was born '

' i need to go to work. i have things to do. i have drafts to read, papers to edit, alot of printings and and ...

He just stared at her. She saw she was rambling and frankly this was the first time she was complaining about her job to anyone.

' how's your shoulder ' she asked suddenly.

' it'll heal in a few days'

'i should probably get going'

' i'm coming with you'

' you can't, you have a bad shoulder and no change of clothes. you can't go out with those blood stained cloths.

' we can go get a change of cloths'

' i will be late for work'

' being late just today will not kill you'

They stared at each other for a minute, her mentally debating with herself whether break some rules today and him daring her to act scared and run to work.

She finally pulled out her phone from her pocket and dialled her boss's number.

' hello, Miss Adkins, i had a bit of an emergency this morning and i'm sorry i won't be able to make it to work on time'

' what emergency ? are you trying to take the day off ?'

' no i'm not , i just won't be on time today'

' why ? what is going on?

Jayda moves the phone away from her ear ' hello!! hello!!.... i can't hear you' and she ended the call. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. That was long overdue, she could not believe she did something without waiting her boss's permission.

' let's go' she said to him. He nodded at her with an amused smile on his face. He quickly put on his shirt and coat and followed her out in to the street. They walked to a clothing store few miles away. She waited while he tried on fits and chose the clothes he liked. He ended up choosing black pants, black shirts and another black coat. She paid the bills. He discarded the ones he had been wearing the day before and left the store in new clothes. He even added black briefs to the collection. He insisted on following her to work just to protect her. They kept arguing back and forth about it until they eventually got to her workplace.

' you can't come in here'

' i like to do my job and do it well, what if that guy from yesterday was inside waiting to surprise you'

' the wolf guy ?'

'yeah'

' he can't do that with all those people looking'

' he did not care about that when he attacked me'

' OK fine. i will have to come up with a story for bringing you in here. Don't do anything or say anything, leave it to me alright'

' yes ma'am'

She pulled open the glass door and went in , Adrian followed her. He had to make conscious effort not to get excited by the scent of human blood. Jayda's office was on the second floor so they had to take the elevator up. When the elevator opened, they stepped in to a vast working area filled with desks separated by wooden partitions, it looked like every one had their own mini office. Every one looked up when she came in with Adrian standing behind her. The whole office seemed to quiten down. She followed their gazes to see that they were not looking at her. They were looking over head at the tall handsome guy standing beside her. She quickly walked to her desk pulling Adrian to her. She did not know why she suddenly felt possessive and wanted to let every one know that he was with her. She went to her desk and put down the files she had come to work with. She had not been able to work on them because of the incident yesterday. She took Adrian's hand as she walked to Miss Adkin's office to ask permission to let Adrian stay with her. She knocked on the door and let herself in. Miss Adkins glanced up from her computer screen to look at her. She had let go of Adrian's hand now. Miss Adkins glanced from her to Adrian.

' Stone, you took your time didn't you?' she finally said.

Jayda noticed the way she was stealing glances at Adrian. He looked good of course.

' who is this ?'

' um, this is my friend from high school. He just started his own tech company in New york. He recently just came in to town because he wants to host a tech summit and garner attention for his company. So he contacted me for help on how to do promotions and print his fliers,banners and handbook '

Adrian was looking at her admirably, how did she even make this up he wondered. He turned to Miss Adkins and gave her his most charming smile. She smiled back at him.

' Oh that is good to hear' she said. She looked him up and down. Jayda was trying her best to hide her disdain. Miss Adkins was a middle aged blonde that yelled too much. Jayda always tried her best to be on her good side.

' you take these and finish up, i'll look in to your friend's situation' she said as she handed the papers she had been editing to jayda. Jayda could not say no and so she took the papers and left the office.

' please have a seat Mr...'

' just call me Adrian' he said as he took the seat she offered.

Jayda could see them talking and miss Adkins laughing and smiling like a teenager in love. She reminded herself to remain calm. Jealous? No of course not, they were just talking. She kept glancing up from what she was doing to steal glances at them and shoot Miss Adkins with the invisible lasers her eyes were producing. Adrian caught her staring, he could sense the jealousy on her face. As if to make it worse he leaned forward and closer to Miss Adkins and took her hand and placed a kiss on the back of her palm. Jayda widened her eyes when she saw it. She scoffed. She stood up and went to the rest room to process what she had just seen and chide herself.

Adrian saw her get up and leave. He was finally getting to her, he smiled. When she came back she saw Mark her co worker waiting for her. He had brought her coffee. It was something he had been doing since he started asking her out. She had been gently declining but he would not give up. When she saw Adrian looking at her, she suddenly started smiling at Mark. She went to meet and even collected the coffee without arguing with him like she had always done. She started tucking her hair between her ears and acting shy. She sipped the coffee and bit down on her lips as she pretended to listen to what he was saying. She completely ignored Adrian and did not look his way all the time she was talking to Mark. Immediately Mark left, her desk telephone rang. she picked it up

' Stone! i need you here'. It was only her boss who called her by her surname. What was it this time.

She knocked and let herself in

' Mr Adrian has kindly begged me to let you off work today because he needs your help with settling down and meeting important figure heads for his summit. I don't normally do this but i'm just going to let it slide today. So take the rest of the day off and be early tomorrow'.

' yes ma'am'

She looked from her to Adrian. She noticed he was looking at her intently and he was not smiling anymore. Did something happen she thought.

They left the office together. while he waited for her to pack her things,she could not help but notice all the ladies ogling him. She led the way out and they took a cab because the sun was blazing out. She noticed that he was not saying anything. He looked cold and scary but still hot and sexy.

When they got to her house, they both got out and she paid the fare. She opened the door and went in, he followed behind and shut the door. She was heading to her room but suddenly stopped in the middle of the sitting room.

' is something wrong?' she asked.
